Damp and green, sounds like heaven at the moment...cocodog is outside on the patio showing no signs of wanting to come inside even though we have front door, patio door and side door open with fans blowing through too.

thegirlsallgrowedupnow · 09/07/2018 21:24

Clicker training children, absolutely!!

BiteyShark · 10/07/2018 16:29

BiteyDog has been to the groomers so he's nice and short again. Just wish his fur would grow more quickly on his stomach where they shaved him for his scans and operation as it's so large and misshapen, it looks like someone wrestled him with some clippers Sad

Bitey, snap...cocodog has been to groomers today too. After months of not rolling in anything disgusting, she did this morning...full Fox poo aroma. I was really busy with work and so spritzed her with tea tree oil in some half arsed attempt to mask it a bit. Groomers were cheerful about it, thank goodness, and smothered her in tomato ketchup so she smells interesting rather than hair salon fresh😁
Her tummy hair has never grown back as quickly as the rest of her since neutering.

BiteyShark · 10/07/2018 19:49

I bet groomers have had to deal with far worse than fox poo Grin

Outs self if groomer is on MN waves but BiteyDog was much better apparently as she didn't use the scary hair dryer this time.

I know a couple of groomers socially, and from what I can gather their least favourite form of poo is the cockerpoo - very, very prone to matting and complete pain to groom.

Squirrel26 · 11/07/2018 08:23

SquirrelDog has permanent bald patches in a harness-shaped pattern under his front legs and chest - he’s got quite a fine coat and it just never gets a chance to grow back (a bit like that patch of grass under the trampoline! Grin )

thegirlsallgrowedupnow · 11/07/2018 14:34

My girl isn’t a cockerpoo but very similar coat which is prone to matting if not brushed and combed daily and checked for burrs and grass seeds. I am keeping her very short at the moment which means less brushing for a couple of weeks until it starts to grow out more😁
When I picked cocodog up yesterday, there was a small fluffy dog on the grooming table being clipped, 2 waiting in crates and cocodog sitting on a table above the crates having her ears and beard titivated. The radio was playing softly, it was a very peaceful scene...they must spend a fortune on pheromone plug ins😬

BiteyShark · 11/07/2018 19:09

I have walked past groomers in shops where the dogs look so calm. They must have magical powers.

I certainly couldn't clip BiteyDog myself as he would be all over the place and would end up with stripes Grin

Laughing at the idea of biteydogs stripes😃
My DH wanted a fluffy mongrel after our last two pedigree dogs... he wasn’t banking on the grooming costs though, haircut every six weeks at £40 a pop. But at least she doesn’t shed and is a gorgeous dog in every way! He loves her so much.

GooodMythicalMorning · 12/07/2018 07:59

Oh poop, dog sitter has let me down for dsis's wedding Saturday Hmm not going to be able to get anyone else at this short notice. Dh is going to have to go and check on him. I'm a tiiiiny bit annoyed!

BiteyShark · 12/07/2018 08:12

Any kennels around that you could just put him in for a day?

OP posts:
AvocadosBeforeMortgages · 12/07/2018 08:51

Perhaps you could try Borrow My Doggy for a day? As it's a Saturday I would imagine there would be takers, assuming moderately cute dog, particularly if you are in a city.

steppemum · 12/07/2018 12:31

Oh I;d take him, but we are out at school fair, and probably a long way from you anyway!

GooodMythicalMorning · 12/07/2018 14:31

Looking at kennels now. Dh step dad might pop in but he worries me as he's unreliable. Super cute Wink

Sorted dog care but it was stressful

BiteyShark · 13/07/2018 19:07

Goood pleased you got it sorted in the end.

How's everyone doing? We were away for a few days with BiteyDog but came home early as the accommodation wasn't what we wanted. So nice to be home.

Wish the heat would die down a bit as I look a little red faced so must have caught the sun when I was out picking up BiteyDogs poo or waiting for him to pee Grin

Hi Bitey.

Steppedog won a rosette on Saturday!

he wore it all afternoon too Grin

(not telling where he won it, as that would lessen the obviously magnificent achievement that this is)
(not telling it was third place either, it was a ROSETTE for goodness sake, just don't look too closely Grin Grin)

Ridiculously busy here, very little time to mn, I keep sliding on to check fave threads between work.
So busy that dh has done half the dog walking last week Shock

BiteyShark · 16/07/2018 05:51

Well done steppedog. All rosettes are good and to be hung on the wall Grin

Sorry to hear you are busy so you won't want to know I plan to laze about all week in the garden garden snoozing on my week off

thegirlsallgrowedupnow · 16/07/2018 07:13

Morning , we are due some rain here later today apparently. Promises, promises !
Cocodog is lying on my bed looking innocent but on alert for Duke, an elderly affable German Shepherd, who is being walked early at the moment and will be passing our drive shortly. Cocodog has decided she is scared of Duke and will bark fiercely from the safety of the window. I have my iPad, a cup of tea and a pot with some of her breakfast in, ha. Reactive dog training and a lie in😁

bluetongue · 16/07/2018 07:33

Well done on the Rosette Steppedog Grin

Bluepuppy had a checkup with his behaviour vet today. She was very happy with him and thinks I can start to taper down one of his medications. I ssked her about his weight and she said he looked healthy but wouldn’t want to him be any leaner. He already eats more than the recommended amount so it’s been suggested I put him back on puppy food for a while and add extra calories such as grated cheese where I can. There’s always something to worry about [Sad]

BiteyShark · 16/07/2018 07:59

Haha CocoDog being all fierce but only from the safety of her window Grin

Some good news though blue with the medication. You may find bluepuppy naturally puts a bit of weight on as he ages.

There’s always something to worry about. Tell me about it, I honestly thought BiteyDog was limping down the corridor this morning holding one of his back legs at a funny angle. He hasn't done it since but I am on constant 'leg watch' Sad

Squirrel26 · 16/07/2018 08:25

Well done Steppedog!
SquirrelDog has a rosette he got for scentwork. I tried to photograph him with it for the Facebook group; he grabbed it and ran away and refused to give it back Grin. Now it lives in the living room with my rosettes for coming first in a children’s showjumping competition.

I am trying to get him to settle in a crate. Apparently he does this beautifully with his walker and when he’s away boarding. I’ve been putting his food in there all week: He gingerly goes in, grabs a mouthful then backs out at speed as though he’s Indiana Jones and the door might come down at any point. I remember now, this is why he didn’t have a crate before...

fleshmarketclose · 16/07/2018 10:27

So homecheck today to see if we will be approved. I feel more anxious than I would if I'd got a SW coming to approve the house for the dc tbh.
Been out and tidied the garden but really it's a patch of dying grass that I have a gardener cut every fortnight and a patio. It is fully secure though so hopefully good enough.
The house is clean and obsessively tidy which again worries me because I don't want them to think that the dog would be restricted. Have plenty of photos of Eric though on the sofas/dining table Hmm etc.
Looked up cost of pet insurance and it's affordable, would register Bella with the vet we use for Eric purely because we like them and they are nearby and would use same groomers because Eric went from hating going to kissing them like long lost friends now when he sees them so figure they are doing something right.
What else do I need to think about? Obviously want to know about food, exercise, sleeping arrangements and any health conditions but is there anything I'm missing?
