The doghouse

What a beautiful dog!

Not a stealth boast, honest, but I have a very beautiful dog and people regularly compliment her. I usually say something like 'Aww, thanks', resulting in an awkward silence and a slightly Hmm face from them. I mean, I know I didn't make her, I'm just acknowledging the compliment! How do you respond?

My old boy, who was so beautiful it took ages to go anywhere. Miss him so much. He was the gentlest soul ever.

New girlies who are very keen to ‘help’ tidy up.

@cherrytree I've heard such dogs being referred to (online only tbh) as Euro Russells and Irish Black and Tan Terriers (an Irish terrier would of course be entirely different). The American Hunt Terrier seems to be a relatively new invention, but in a similar vein www.ahtca.org/Photos.html - start with a JRT, presumably some outcrossing to get the colouring....

Curiously PestDog has been through a lot of owners and his exact origins have been lost in the mists of time. However, by some miracle his original vaccination record card from when he was a puppy came with him, and that just lists him as a JRT so part of me does wonder.

That said, we did run into a dog that looked uncannily similar (see photo - PestDog is the one on the lead) and the owner of that dog reckoned hers to be a JRT x Dachshund too. They hit it off so well that we actually had to check ages to see if they were litter mates, but hers was much older

He does definitely take after the JRT side of the family - ball fiend, squirrel hunter, confident, but a bit reactive (we're working on it). And bags of energy! Two hours of walkies is about the minimum I can get away with, and I've seen him still going after 7 hours Shock

Lovely as all these dogs are, I’m afraid that this is the most beautiful dog ever. We lost him last June and are still heartbroken.

KinkyAfro she's a Shar Pei x Dogue De Bordeaux. She was a rescue so I'm not sure whose idea it was to cross those 2 breeds!

Teatimetoller often gets stopped in the street by people who want to tell him how beautiful he is - he loves being admired and will walk on with a coquettish sparkle
