Goood very pampered pooch.

Ooooh bad steppedog Wink. I think I would leave his dinner or just a few snacks as presumably he's had his calories and if it was my dog we would be waiting for the poonami.

steppemum · 07/04/2018 18:23

The smelly farts have started already. he has a stomach of steel (good job, he eats ANYTHING) but he is flat out on the floor asleep, and he would normally be nudging my elbow telling me it is past dinner time!

not sure how much actualy nutrition is in white bread compared to his normal dinner....

AvocadosBeforeMortgages · 07/04/2018 18:48

Oh dear SteppeDog! Not what you want but it happens to us all. Maybe take him out for a short walk to see if the bowels start moving?

I have the (dis)pleasure of living in a borough that allows barbecues, and I've now seen them on two consecutive weekends 😬 Last weekend I had to retrieve a dropped chicken bone from the back of his throat (I may have shouted at the idiots who were responsible) but I do wonder how long it's going to be until we have a SteppeDog style incident with BBQ meat. Ah well, I suppose it's one way to cut down the food bills Grin

BiteyShark · 07/04/2018 18:53

There's probably no room for any more food in steppeDogs stomach Grin

OP posts:
blueskyinmarch · 07/04/2018 19:53

Blueskydog would be high fiving Steppedog right now!

Squirrel26 · 07/04/2018 21:38

So would SquirrelDog! He's currently watching me eating pizza like he hasn't been fed for a week (he's spent the evening eating treats in the pub, and then he had dinner Hmm )

GooodMythicalMorning · 08/04/2018 09:24

How's steppedog now?

Yes he loves a groom Smile apparently not a fan of the dryer though as he was still wet when we picked him up.

BiteyShark · 08/04/2018 12:08

We are going for a groom next week and I can't wait as we are overdue and his paws are really fluffy. BiteyDog also comes out a bit damp Grin

Also wondering how bad steppeDogs bottom was this morning Wink

We had a 10 min ball throw this morning out in the forest and a bit of a play in the garden. He is now flat out asleep on me on the sofa. It's amazing how 10 mins of solid ball throwing tires him out. Far more than a long walk and he loves it so much he jumps up and down on all 4 paws and cries if I don't throw the ball fast enough.

BiteyShark · 08/04/2018 16:24

Hmmm so I decide to take BiteyDog on a on lead training walk rather than just a walk. I usually don't have any treats when we just go for a walk but did this time and I think in total I had to turn around only 4 times as he was on his best behaviour. Maybe I should just fill my coat full of treats all the time Hmm

OP posts:
steppemum · 08/04/2018 19:59

Ha ha Bitey, yes i always walk with treats! Ds couldn't work out why steppedog wouldn't do anythign for him, and I handed him the treats pack!

So, I've been out all day since early morning, bowels all normal Shock
He had a veyr small bowl of kibble last night, which he ignored!!
Dh took him out for a ball throw and a run, he wasn't that keen, but did eat the food when he got home (still reeling from the shock of steppedog refusing food)

ds walked him today, and guess what? In the woods smoeone had emptied a whole box of cheerios...... no prizes for guessing what happened next.

Still, he isn't barrel shaped tonight but he still stink sot high heaven with farting

BiteyShark · 08/04/2018 20:14

Oh dear at least steppeDog is keeping the streets clear of rubbish Grin

BiteyDogs appetite is massive at the moment. He's gone from being underweight to now being at the top of normal. Hoping when he goes back to daycare he will drop down a little bit.

I always take treats on walks but now only give them out for a really good recall. We cracked loose lead walking a while ago but I still intermittently treat for automatically sitting at a kerb or when a car passes in a narrow lane or walking calmly past other dogs, joggers etc.
The issue we are having with her is jumping up at people off lead. We live on a corner of a lane that is directly opposite woods to walk ,very popular with local dog walkers and ramblers. Often, we are in the garden and there is Cocodog being patted over the fence and fussed. She is on her back legs to reach them and I think this reinforces her desire to jump up for attention. She doesn’t do it to us and other than the initial excited greeting which I am working on doesn’t jump up at visitors in the house. Anyone got any ideas?

BiteyShark · 09/04/2018 08:24

I stopped carrying treats as he never runs off now I have a ball in my hand but maybe I should go back to having some on me Grin

Ooo that's hard on the jumping as it's so frustrating when others unwittingly sabotage your training efforts :(

Can you put up a sign saying do not pet the dog WinkGrin

noitsnotteatimeyet · 09/04/2018 08:30

We have treats, cage ball (we’ve stopped using tennis balls), whistle, poo bags, emergency squeaky toy on us at all times and in summer add a water bottle and collapsible bowl to that too ... sometimes I look at fellow dog walkers sauntering around with no baggage (and perfectly behaved dogs) and sigh ...

Squirrel26 · 09/04/2018 09:36

I gave up carrying treats, because he wouldn’t take them (sometimes I used to amuse myself by putting bits of liver into his open mouth, which he would just let fall out). He’s much better now though actually, so I really need to get back in the habit

Is ball playing like HIIT training for dogs??

BiteyShark · 09/04/2018 10:03

Is ball playing like HIIT training for dogs?? definitely for BiteyDog as he's knackered after 10 mins but he does run at full speed to get it and gets upset if I don't throw it immediately again Grin

GooodMythicalMorning · 09/04/2018 10:04

We bring treats so I can encourage indy to move when he decides to just flop. Little monkey.

steppemum · 09/04/2018 10:56

yes steppedog runs flat out, does ridiculous twisted leaps into the air to catch ball.
Only probelm is he then runs round in circles going Ha Ha I've got the ball!
Slightly better when I have 2 balls, but even so.
I know he is tired when he catches ball and then lies down with it to have a little rest!

Typical, I am on dog walking this week, made ds do it last week when I was painting his room. Ds got lovely spring sunshine, I get rain. Again

BiteyShark · 09/04/2018 11:08

Haha yes BiteyDog leaps in the air to miss catch the ball. I got fed up of him dropping the first ball on the way back as he was so keen to get back for the second ball I started using just one ball. Didn't take him long to realise if he actually bought it back to my feet I would be able to throw it again more quickly Grin

OP posts:
GooodMythicalMorning · 09/04/2018 12:04

Indy won't bring anything back. He just stares at it.

BiteyShark · 09/04/2018 12:22

Maybe Indy thinks like a cat 'you threw it, you bring it back' Grin

OP posts:
GooodMythicalMorning · 09/04/2018 13:02

I reckon he does!

thegirlsallgrowedupnow · 09/04/2018 14:14

noitsnotteatimeyet, I go out with my pockets bulging like a poacher too with emergency squeaky tuggy toy etc. Last summer I bought a zipped bumbag with pockets but i don’t think it will be big enough this year😬
I also keep a spare collar, lead, whistle and poo bags in the car since the occasion when I arrived at a lovely walking destination in the car and found I had left her lead and collar behind.

thegirlsallgrowedupnow · 09/04/2018 14:18

Bitey, what should my sign say
“ my dog is over friendly, please ignore her and you may get away with clean trousers next time we meet you out on a walk” 😁

BiteyShark · 09/04/2018 14:52

I have a specific jacket that has millions of pockets to keep all dog walking stuff in or attached to. I found bags just too fiddly. My fear is getting to a place and finding I have forgotten his ball or losing one so I have spares both in the car and jacket.

thegirlsall that should work Grin
