Oh dear yes there is the 2 week exclusion window. BiteyDog illnesses and accidents started after then.

GooodMythicalMorning · 11/01/2018 12:01

Took indy in for his op today. Hopefully they'll phone in an hr to update us. Didnt like not feeding him.

Awww Goood it's awful sat waiting Sad

Sofabitch · 11/01/2018 12:20

I haven't attempted to claim back costs either as I was worried about premiums going up amd i have a £100 excess. Mind that is now £150!

BiteyShark · 11/01/2018 12:31

I guess I am in the fortunate/unfortunate position that it wlll be a few years before I am in a negative amount with insurance costs. Would have preferred a healthy dog instead but given all the costs I am glad the insurance paid out and paid out quickly.

Lostbeyondwords · 11/01/2018 13:32

Hi, jumping in to join with Lostpup. He's 13wks, had his vaccinations and has been out for walks for the last two weeks but it feels like WAY more than that.

He's happy and friendly, very excitable and probably loves our cats a bit too much. They are not as keen on him. He sleeps really well at night and we've managed to get him to sit without treats, and stop at roads before crossing on command. Toilet outside is a work in progress but we've only had him a month so far.

Welcome aboard lost

Any news Goood on pup?

GooodMythicalMorning · 11/01/2018 16:11

Ok went well, just off to get him now. We called to check on him at half one to check on him and he'd be out of surgery for half an hour and resting fine. Will prob be nearly 300 pounds due to having to find other testicle but apparently we can claim some back on insurance.

BiteyShark · 11/01/2018 16:23

Glad it went well and be home soon. At least they did find the other one Grin

Elphame · 11/01/2018 17:08

Glad that done now Gooode Still undecided whether or not to here. He's still much too young at the moment so no rush to make a decision.

I'm feeling very mean. I used a long line on Elfpup this afternoon. He didn't like it much and it seems very heavy. I guess he'll get used to it. I hope recall returns soon as it was a PITA for both of us.

Tomorrow I will be pupless. He's going to a friend for a sleepover prior to staying with them whilst we go on holiday. I'm really going to miss the little monster.

GooodMythicalMorning · 11/01/2018 17:13

He's not impressed and a bit wobbly. Smaller cone wouldnt fit his head

Goood bless him! Hoping he has a speedy recovery.

Lost he's lovely. Our cats won't come anywhere near the bitey maniac I've allowed into our home.

It's pretty crappy at ours atm and I've had another day of wondering what the heck I've done. In fairness, I'm still shifting illness from before Christmas, I've had DS ill again this week and we've had a floor laid today. Upset stomach has meant toilet training has gone out of the window and I'm really restricted on what he can eat atm for giving him training treats. I can't leave the room without him barking the house down. I'm shattered.

KinkyDoritowithsparkleson · 12/01/2018 07:50

Warning to those eating breakfast - woke to the sound of retching, no vomit, and now blood in mucus poo. Back to vet for us. He’s fine in himself.

BiteyShark · 12/01/2018 07:55

KinkyDoritos sympathies, we had lots of that at the beginning and was back and forth to the vets. No vomiting but sloppy poos with blood and mucus. Wasn't anything serious but just a bug as injection of antibiotics and tablets used to clear it up. And the same, he was happily bouncing about as if nothing was wrong.

KinkyDoritowithsparkleson · 12/01/2018 08:04

That’s good to hear. He was reluctant to give antibiotics yesterday, but suspect he might now. Hopefully first stool tests will be back. Thanks 😊

GooodMythicalMorning · 12/01/2018 08:13

Indys feeling a bit sorry for himself. Woke up to squitty poop in the middle of the floor and wee wees. I'm sure it's just the anaesthetic. Poor boy doesnt know what to do with himself.

OP posts:
BiteyShark · 12/01/2018 08:39

Goood the anaesthetic really knocked BiteyDog sideways for a few days. It's heartbreaking to see them like that but they do recover quickly. I think we had the poos afterwards if I remember correctly.

We have just been for our first ball play for over a month. BiteyDog is now running about barking trying to calm himself down as he was super excited and very worked up. Only did 15 mins as want to take it easy until I know his paw can take it.

bluetongue · 12/01/2018 09:30

Oh look at Indy in his cone of shame. Feel better soon Indy.

Bluepuppy did very well at his test boarding. He loved having other dogs to play with and ate well. It’s good to know he has a place to stay where he’s happy. The woman who looked after him agreed that he’ll probably be much happier with another dog for company. So I guess I’m officially on the hunt for another dog.

The plan is it will be another whippet. Probably an older puppy or young dog up to 2 years old. Maybe I’m nuts but I can’t give Bluepuppy up now. What’s another mouth to feed Grin

BiteyShark · 12/01/2018 10:06

Happy DDog2 hunting blue Grin

PerfectlyChaotic · 12/01/2018 10:08

Elphame I use a long line with PerfectPuppy too 😬 It is a real PITA. especially with the mud at the moment! I can't quite work out how/when to make the leap into taking it off again though... anyone any thoughts? She fab MOST of the time with it on, and recalls brilliantly. She's a clever little madam though and I strongly suspect that the sense of total freedom without it will make it impossible to clip a lead back on - she's danced around me in the past 😫

GooodMythicalMorning · 12/01/2018 10:12

Thanks bitey and blue.

bitey yes I think that's all it is. He's had his painkillers now so that might work him up.

blue Cant go wrong with another whippet Grin

GooodMythicalMorning · 12/01/2018 10:13

Perk not work

OP posts:
BiteyShark · 12/01/2018 10:13

PerfectlyChaotic I didn't use a long lead as he would just get it wrapped around everything so can't really advise as to when to take it off.

Elphame · 12/01/2018 14:00

PerfectlyChaotic Having to rugby tackle Elfpup to catch him was the last straw for me! Are you still holding the end? If not maybe drop it and see what she does. You can put a foot on it to stop her if you need to!

I'm wondering whether my mistake has been in avoiding dogs. I much prefer to walk alone in woods and fields and we only see one or two. I deliberately took him to the popular dog walking route this morning - dogs passing every few minutes. Maybe a few sessions here and the incessent need to interact with every dog will reduce.

As for recall - he just doesn't listen to me at the moment
