Can't believe it. Elfpup has kennel cough. No idea how but there are 2 of us hacking away here now Sad

BiteyShark · 23/11/2017 10:12

Elphame I think there are many types and the 'name' covers lots of infections and you can pick some of them up very easily. Poor pup and you, hope you both get better soon.

Wolfiefan · 23/11/2017 10:36

Oh no. I think the vaccination only covers certain strains. Like flu.
Hope pup is better soon.you too.

BiteyShark · 23/11/2017 17:33

How's WolfiePups foot? Any better?

Wolfiefan · 23/11/2017 17:40

She's still sporting a fetching bandage. Redressing Monday. So sick of trying to keep it clean and dry!
Is it nearly summer yet?! Grin

BiteyShark · 23/11/2017 18:04

Keeping them dry in this weather is impossible :(

Soubriquet · 23/11/2017 18:33

Fucking dh

I had a kip today so dh fed the dog

Sausage roll, cocktail sausages and ham HmmAngry

I'm not happy

BiteyShark · 23/11/2017 18:39

Oh my Soubriquet that's some buffet your dogs just had Grin

Soubriquet · 23/11/2017 18:41

Mmmm

He thought we didn't have any dog food left. So instead of checking the cupboard...he goes straight to the fridge. Ffs...men. Do they ever think?!

Wolfiefan · 23/11/2017 18:53

Well he can clean up the vomit or diarrhoea!
Managing ok today. She is sporting a boot with a freezer bag underneath for waterproofness!
I have three freezers full. Minced food and also some lung to dehydrate. Wonderful lady added in lamb ribs (madams favourites!) and some chicken feet too!
I could so do with another freezer!!!!!

Soubriquet · 23/11/2017 19:06

He won't...he will be at work.

Greyhorses · 23/11/2017 19:20

Hi everyone. Hope everyone is managing okay Grin

We thought we had cracked the house training with badGSD. We went weeks without a single accident yet today we have had 3 poos and 2 wees.
Nothing at all has changed so I don't know what's wrong with her today.

Ah well here's to starting again Confused

Wolfiefan · 23/11/2017 19:23

Soubriquet didn't anyone tell him? It's national take your dog to work day tomorrow?!

Soubriquet · 23/11/2017 19:25
Grin

Madam would love that!! He works at an abattoir

BiteyShark · 23/11/2017 19:30

Grey mine has been house trained for months and then something unsettles him and he has the odd accident. Hopefully she is just having a bad day and will get back on track.

We are currently tackling clinginess and crying when I leave him. He used to be fine so I can only presume it's from when I had to leave him for those days and nights at the vets.

Wolfiefan · 23/11/2017 19:31

Sometimes things outside can upset them.
Sometimes they eat something.
UTI is always a thought if it's pee.

Soubriquet. I have an image of her dragging a cow carcass home! Grin
At least she could show him what she should be eating!

bluetongue · 23/11/2017 20:25

Hey Wolfie it’s nearly summer where I am. Want to swap Grin

mousebacon · 23/11/2017 20:43

Evening all, Nala is all set to have her first jabs tomorrow- I can’t wait till I don’t have to hide her in my coat any more! Bring on Christmas!

She’s eating well and growing fast but still waking once through the night. It’s not too bad I suppose!

Absolutely loving having her in our lives 😊

Fillybuster · 25/11/2017 19:10

Gosh this thread moves fast!

Had a tough 2 weeks with Fillypup, hence no posting.

We went for a long muddy walk 2 weeks ago, which also involved a lot of puddles and a lake. And lots of dogs to play with too! By the end Fillypup (who is used to everyone falling at his feet in adoration due to his impressive fluffiness) looked appalling. Just as we were about to leave he went over to say hi to another dog, on a lead. As I turned to call him, I heard him let out the most almighty yelp: the owner had kicked him out of the way!!

By the next day he was limping badly. After 3 days we took him to the vet who couldn't find anything obviously wrong and said to keep him home for a few more days (!). After 10 days and still limping (& driving us bloody nuts at home....) we were back at the vet. They gave him an injection and tablets, which have helped, but he's definitely still not back to normal. Hopefully another day or two and it will clear - I really don't want to need an X-ray and gosh, the boy is desperate for a good walk!

Fillybuster · 25/11/2017 19:12

Oops. Hit post too soon. Anyway, wwyd in that situation? Dh said I shouldn't get angry, but now I really regret not saying anything at the time.

Hope all the pups are doing well?

BiteyShark · 25/11/2017 19:27

Oh Filly poor FillyPup. I have no idea what I would have done to be honest in that situation. Hope he gets better soon. 10 days seems a long time to be still limping Sad

mouse sounds like pup is settling in well.

Since BiteyDog had to be left at the vets he's started to whine lots when we leave him. I am not surprised we have some behavioural anxiety issues given all he went through so having to go back to square one on getting him used to being alone again.

Wolfiefan · 25/11/2017 20:10

You must not let your off lead dog run up to another dog. Ever. If you don't have a god recall then use a longline.
The dog may be fearful, reactive, aggressive or old and sore.
That person should not have kicked your dog but they may have been trying to get it away to prevent it being attacked.
Hope poor fillypup feels better soon. Soft tissue issues can take a while to settle.

Greyhorses · 25/11/2017 20:51

It seems the wee day was a one off as no more accidents since then touch wood Blush

Ah filly I'm sorry about your pup. I dont think you have much comeback though as he was technically out of control as not recalled or on a lead. Mine did it to some lady once and it was really embarrassing as she was pretty cross! I also used to have an aggressive dog and probably would have had to shove a puppy away with my foot quickly to stop it being eaten so I suppose I can see how it happened.
Still, here's hoping no X-ray required!

Bitey we have been through lots of the separation anxiety stuff and it is a nightmare so I feel for you. We are improving slowly but I still have to be careful to make sure everything is just right before I head out!

Fillybuster · 25/11/2017 20:51

That's why I didn't say anything to the other owner, wolf. He's got great recall, but I didn't get a chance - it was her instant reaction. I know Fillypup has had issues when larger dogs came over when he was little, and he got a bit mauled, just through friendliness and high spirits, but I'd never had kicked someone else's dog, at least not without asking him to be called off first. I don't think kicking was remotely appropriate: he's a 6 month old cockapoo, not something large and scary (she had something similar on the lead), and I was about 2 metres away!

Wolfiefan · 25/11/2017 21:00

You need to keep him with you or put him on a lead if you can't avoid a dog on lead. If he ran up to a couple of dogs I meet one walks he could be seriously injured.
Kicking is NOT appropriate.
But you need to keep your dog away from a dog on lead.
