He's gone to the vets for X-rays

He ran out on to the lane by our house and a pick up with a trailer hit him

I am devestated. The dc are quiet and asking when he is coming home

Vet just rang to say it's his back end and they will know more once he he had tests done.

Hand hold please while we wait....

A wee update for anyone who followed this...

Teddy has been home for a week now, he can walk by himself but we use a sling to support him. One of his back paws drags as there was nerve damage but the vet thinks this should repair itself in a few weeks

He had both hips pinned, his front leg in a cast and his pelvis repaired. What an amazing job the vet did.

Over the moon to have him home, he is so happy too. Long way to go for recovery but our boy is back!

Aww, well done Ted. I was wondering how he was doing.

noitsnotteatimeyet · 07/11/2017 22:31

Ah that’s such a lovely update 😊 Our cat dragged his back paw at first as the nerve had been so badly stretched but thankfully wasn’t damaged permanently and he’s completely fine now - fingers crossed Ted’s the same

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 08/11/2017 06:21

Lovely update, Ted looks gorgeous.

WeAllHaveWings · 08/11/2017 20:59

Good to see Ted is doing well after so much surgery 😀, ours seems very minor in comparison.

Ddog is doing really well, 2.2 weeks since surgery. He got his staples out yesterday at our local vet and they are really happy with how the surgical wound has healed. We’ve managed to juggle work so someone has always been home with him. Still on house rest confined to one room, but we can start building up to a max of 5 min on lead walks over the next 2-3 weeks until we go back to Broadleys for more X-rays to see how the bone is healing. He has been really good keeping calm and away from the wound and only needing his cone at nighttime, but is bored stiff not getting out.

Dh has been a big sop and has been sleeping downstairs with him on a mattress on the floor every night since he got home!

onemorecakeplease · 09/11/2017 12:42

Aw wings glad to hear it went well - we too have managed to have someone at home every day so far but tomorrow is his first day by himself for a few hours. I’ll come home at lunchtime to let him out.

I think ted will be getting fed up soon, he is quite a lazy dog anyway but he does likes to go out for a wander round the garden and eat things he shouldn’t be...

Hurrah, well done Ted.
There is a facebook group called canine enrichment - they will have loads of ideas of how to keep him entertained while he recovers

Wolfiefan · 10/11/2017 16:42

Great update. He is a very handsome man! Speedy recovery gorgeous.

onemorecakeplease · 10/11/2017 20:11

Thanks! He took a few steps this evening and didn’t drag his back paw. Progress I think.
He’s back to his side of the sofa, if we lift him on he gets comfy and snuggles/curls in beside me which he couldn’t do before - he had to lie flat on a duvet.

New fence and gates went in this week, we are also refencing the field in case he goes up there and gets out to the road. Long shot but better safe than sorry.
It’s been a very expensive month! Can’t wait to get our money back from the insurance it’s definitely beans on toast for the rest of November!

That sounds like massive progress and in not a long time either.
Thank goodness for insurance. Worth beans on toast to have him home though eh?! Wink

onemorecakeplease · 10/11/2017 20:55

God I know. Lucky we had savings or would have had to take out a loan or a credit card.

Beans on toast is healthy too, right?!

Completely. Grin
I'm so pleased he's making progress. You must be so relieved.
