Where does your dog sleep at night ?

My almost 3 yo border collie has always slept downstairs, initially crated, but now on her bed or just wherever she likes. We are getting a second dog and I'm considering taking the older upstairs to my room to sleep - pup will be crated initially ... thoughts ?

In the utility room on his bed - he is a stinky dog!
The cat sleeps in our ensuite tho which is weird but she kept going in so eventually we put her a bed in there next to the towel rail!

My DDog is snuggled underneath the duvet right now! He's always slept on/in our bed, occasionally on the bedroom floor if it's super hot. Quite used to him and he doesn't wake me up at all until he nags at me for breakfast at 6:30 on a Sunday

On sofa. Crated as a puppy. Would sleep in our bedroom if it was up to me. If we are staying elsewhere e.g. Holiday cottage, he sleeps in his crate in our bedroom.

He was in a crate as a pup but sleeps on the sofa in whichever room I'm in and on my bed at night

When i got ddog from dogs trust the first night i told him to go to the bed id bought him and made all cosy... nah he opened my bedroom door and jumped up on the bed and curled up and went to sleep.
4yrs later he still sleeps beside me. He moves about the room during the night sometimes he lies in his bed but he always ends up back on my bed and will butt my back to be let under the duvet Grin. I get moaned at about him sleeping beside me but i wouldnt have it any other way

Underneath our bed. She HATED the crate when she was a pup and shat in it every time she was in there for more than 30 seconds for a week until we gave up. She's not allowed on the beds although I came home the other day after a couple of hours away from the house (previous to which she had had a huge long walk and gallivant on the beach) and there was a distinct sandy and dog shaped dent in my duvet..,

Can't be dealing with putting dogs in a cage to sleep, my JRT sleeps in our bed or on the floor if the bed gets too hot.

In the end of dd's bed. Dd is 5. I know its wrong, I know what the experts say but if I don't let them either:

A. Dog whines at dd's door all night or

B. dd gets up for a wee in the night and lets the dog in anyway.

Fwiw dd has a double bed and the dog sleeps at the foot on her blanket. mostly

I hope you all realise, if we were posting on any other part of Mumsnet we'd be absolutely slated for letting our dogs sleep in our bedrooms or on our beds .... In real life I'm careful about who I admit it to. But there are few things in life more pleasurable than lying back to back with a gently snoring Labrador...

Ddog sleeps in a bed (one that you kind of have to borrow in to) just outside our bedroom door.

Sometimes comes in to bed with us under the duvet by our legs on Sunday mornings

Officially in his bed in the living room. He frequently gets confused between his bed and the sofa. An easy mistake to make...Hmm

Unofficially under the duvet with us when he's particularly anxious Blush

Hehe! You are so right stonecircle. We would both be crucified Cat. DS is 11 and just whisked ddog off for a cuddle in his bedroom. On his own Shock.

DTerrier 14.5 has always slept on our bed till recently. Unfortunately he's getting tracheal collapse Sad so gets shut downstairs if he's coughing. Sometimes he's chosing to stay downstairs as the stairs are too much effort

So DDog slept in my room last night, on her own cosy bed in the floor. Woke me up at about 6.45 which is ok .. NOT on the bed as the sheets are white !

When I'm on nights , this is often what I wake up to . Sneaky bugger .

Otherwise sleeps on a duvet at the foot of the bed , or on either of their two beds , or either sofa downstairs . Or anywhere they like really .

All three sleep in the kitchen in beds under the open stairs. Cats sleep in the utility. I couldn't cope with them on beds, plus two of the dogs are big.

Ours sleeps on the sofa overnight and then when either DH or I get up, he's allowed upstairs. He'll go racing into our bedroom, leap on the bed, give kisses to whoever is still sleeping and then go straight under the bed where he's made a den and snooze there until both of us are up and he realises he's been abandoned. Grin

My dog who is huge sleeps on my bed on me and I don't care who judges me. Just before I got him I was raped at knifepoint. I can't sleep without my gorgeous boy on the bed and he's the same. I didn't encourage him at all. He has beds all over the house and one morning I woke up and he was on the bed. I removed him and it kept happening and here we are.

Downstairs in her bed.... unless we forget to put the cushions down on the sofa, then she'll sneak up on there. She's a border collie too

Our collie suffered with anxiety, so she has the radio and a little light on, she's much better now

In the utility room. Ddog 2 did sleep upstairs for a while but was banished for fidgeting constantly. Ddog1 doesn't do stairs so has always slept downstairs.
