Where does your dog sleep at night ?

My almost 3 yo border collie has always slept downstairs, initially crated, but now on her bed or just wherever she likes. We are getting a second dog and I'm considering taking the older upstairs to my room to sleep - pup will be crated initially ... thoughts ?

She normally sleeps on her armchair in living room, with a blanket over her. Recently shes been on dads bed - stretches out, with a bit of the quilt over her. As its getting colder and she dislikes quilt as its heavy im debating taking her blanket up at night.

Our 11 year-old Collie Cross sleeps mainly in his dog bed, which is next to DH's side of the bed.We tuck him up with his blanket and his rabbit toy.
But we often wake up in the morning to find him stretched out in our bed, in between us (and always with his bottom end on our pillows).

One on the bed, one under. If left downstairs, they will bark at anyone walking past send the foxes, so easier to have them with us.

In my bed mainly. Often under the covers with his head on the spare pillow like a human! Daft dog!

When we got dogs we were very clear that they were downstairs only, and certainly not allowed in bedrooms.

So that lasted.

Our dog is in bed with us every night and if we're honest neither of us would have it any other way.

Both our spaniels sleep on our bed. During the night they might move to the floor for a bit but they're always snuggling up to us by morning time.

Theoretically in dog baskets at the end of our bed - but half the time GirlDog sleeps on my feet or spoons me and BoyDog sleeps in DH's arms Blush

Trying to type sorry. Ours were crated as puppies but now sleep together on dog beds in utility room. Very happy and often put themselves to bed if we're late.

Well, this isn't doing my yearning for a greyhound or whippet much good. Sleight Your dog on the left of the sofa is curled up like a shrimp, same as my JRT does. But bigger Grin.

In our beds Grin

DH and I sleep separately at the moment as I've got sinus problems which mean I snore like a bloody train plus he makes the bedroom too hot

He has DDog2 and DWhippet1, I have DWhippets2 & 3. Occasionally I'll end up with all three whippets but I love the bedroom to be absolutely freezing and DWhippet1 is rarely keen enough to be with me to brave it!!

On the dog sofa in the kitchen, keeping a weather eye out for scraps!

In her bed downstairs in the back room. She doesn't come upstairs as a rule but does for a bath. She hates the stairs and I end up having to carry her (she's a small staffy) she's quite happy to have a bath so its not that, think she just doesn't like using the stairs. We don't hear a peep from her once we've gone to bed. She normally gets let out between 9 and 10 for her bedtime pee and then dh let's her out in the morning when he goes down at between 5.30-6.30

Mortil this is exactly what we go through every night too. She sleeps under the covers but gets too hot and starts to pant so DH we have to pull covers back to give her some air....then when she's cooled down enough she gets under again Halloween Grin

Combine that with a toddler octopus in with is too you can imagine we don't get undisturbed sleep!

Wouldn't have it any other way though, she's the most gentle and loving dog I've ever met. I love having her against my legs at night.

In his bed next to our bed in our room. Takes himself up to bed at the stroke of half 10 no matter what.

Our dogs sleep downstairs - their beds are under the stairs.

None of our dogs ever sneak upstairs at 2am, and jump up on the bed between us, leaving the other dog downstairs - and if they did, we would of course send that dog straight back downstairs. That never happens.

Our springer sleeps in the kitchen either in her dog bed or on the door mat depending upon what she feels like
Not sure what we will do going forward as I am thinking of getting another dog early next year and have always had german shepherds before we got her and I don't think either the dog bed or door mat are big enough for them to share if I get one of those as well
