This is Bernard . Bernard is 6 months old and the size of a small horse . And yes he's a puppy but he's also a total dick. He pulls everything off the work tops , he reacts really manically to other dogs when on the lead, he chews everything he finds, we're not stupid we understand puppies are puppies but holy shit he is hard god damn work , and he's bright white. Who . Buys. A. White. Dog .
Just wanted to moan and see if we are alone in this .

Ha ! These stories are making me feel much better! Yes to them being selectively deaf! And yes to chasing them about in states of undress been there. I can hear him now barking in an awful high pitch because the kids are on the trampoline. the neighbours must have been delighted when we got him

Haha this has made me laugh. I don't have a puppy, my 2 year old is tiring enough quite frankly! But my mum and dad have got 5 month old springer puppies...TWO of them! They are so annoying, they ripped up my mums dry garden, one of them has escaped twice, they seek out cat poo and eat it and they regularly empty entire tissue boxes everywhere. And the get up at 5.30 every day. I don't know how my parents manage them! Anyway, they too passed their puppy training and they definitely know their basic commands they just have selective hearing.

They are really cute too though and we have all grown to rather like them!

I just came on this forum to see if I could get some guidance on my 20 month old dickhead dog and I found your post! This is my dickhead dog, it must be a white alsatian thing!! I admit he does not get walked often which is our fault and we didn't take him to training. He can sit, wait, stay and lie down, but he does fuck all else except scream at anyone coming near the house. He loves the cats though. I'm looking at adolescent dog classes now...

That's the problem with Bernard! If he's not distracted / worked up he's great! So training classes after initially barking continually we thought they were going to tell us to leave the trainer sprayed bitter graniks ( sp?) in his mouth and he stfu .
But other dogs , or one of our cats , or just feeling giddy and were shouting Bernard! Bernard! Sit! Down! Ffs please just stop !
And he literally does not care/notice .

I know almost nothing about dogs but he looks lovely. Remember the moral of this tale applies to you too - too much " not now Bernard" and he'll turn into a monster! Good luck parenting your doggy terrible twos!

I have 2 large dogs that are dickheads, and they are not puppies...realistically they should be lovely calm old gentlemen dogs, but sadly they are mental...

6.5st each, and they are 8yrs and 10yrs....still haven't realised they aren't the size of jack russells, still chase and catch rabbits/pigeons etc, and still steal stuff from work tops if given half a chance....

I have a 10 month old springer who's a complete PITA. He's as mad as a box of frogs but also happens to be the most cuddly & loving pup who adores me so much he's practically surgically attached to me. He's currently snuggled up next to me on the couch with all four legs up in the air, farting noxiously every now & then. Yes - so much so he is now known as knobhead rather than his actual name.

He is lab x springer. Completely fucking bonkers, he is currently in the garden eating the shed because he doesn't want to come in. He will eat anything and everything. He spends his whole life on two legs. I don't think I have ever seen him walk - just dash about everywhere.

He is 2. He should know better. He got kicked out of puppy classes because he was showing the trainer up - none of her methods had any effect on him. He has just started with a proper gundog trainer and this is going much better. I have hope!

We love the bones of him though. Not sure if this actually makes us the knobheads!!

I have a six month old small puppy who has recently turned into a complete dick though he's not eaten any sheds/stair cases yet! He humps, chews, ignores me, bounds from sofa to sofa and if so much as a mouse farts on a night he feels the need to defend the house and goes ballistic.

His one saving grace is that he's grey so the mud doesn't show up but my god he smells! Every time he goes outside he comes back in reeking and I've got no idea why.

Anyway it's goodbye love spuds tomorrow.

Mine is only 4 months old and a dickhead.

Out on a walk with our older dog, older dog does a wee (she's a girl, but cocks her leg) puppy sticks his head under, gets a soaking, and then looks up grinning, like it's the best thing to have ever happened to him.
He's bound to give that another go. He's just generally filthy!

Also spends a lot of time digging in the garden for cat shit treasure.

Meet Milo, St Bernard x rottweiler and 50kg of arsehole! He has just turned 3 years and fingers crossed seems to have finally calmed down. When he was 6 months I had just given birth to our son and I remember hating him so much!

He's another one who was brilliantly behaved at obedience classes and followed all commands but it never transferred to the real world. He would want to sit in your lap, jump up visitors, bark at the neighbours, steal food, chew everything in sight and when off the lead would leg it off and not come back for hours.

Luckily he has always been a big gentle giant around the baby. The only issue now is that his recall still isn't perfect. Nine times out of ten he comes back but if he sees a squirrel or gets it in his head he's going swimming it can take a while to get him back.

Is he a swiss white? my friend has one who is about 14months now and is less dickhead-like than it was at puppy age. It also has a squeeky bark and used to completely ignore anyone but now it comes when its called.

My sister's dog poops on the sofa, under the kitchen table, all around the house when she travels for work- she's an emotional, highly-strung one-person terrier. I think my golden retriever has merely confused my bed with the grass.

My Doberman X was a right twat when she was that age, she's much better now though. The JRT otoh, what an absolute git. The most stubborn dog I've ever known.
