Help - a Lovely but heavily pregnant Lurcher turned up at my door today

I know it's late & I know there's a thread for pointy hound lovers, but I seem to have acquired a heavily pregnant Lurcher, she was lurking round my house all day - very rural no near neighbours, every time I looked out the door she was there, very underfed but sweet & extremely sociable, after about three hours I crumbled & fed her, at which point I noticed she was HEAVILY pregnant & rather skinny.

I've taken her to the Vets', no chip, no report, so she's come back here, she had a show of mucus at the vets' and has been intermittently been panting very heavily, I've phoned the vet again (who luckily are personal friends) who told me how to do an internal, couldn't feel anything yet, so I guess it's just a waiting game.

I've had dogs in the past, but DOGS, never bitches & I've never whelped a pup in me life.

Help & hand-holds would be lovely.

I hope her vet check goes okay, bless her.

I've donated to Mabli's justgiving page. If anyone else has loved reading this thread perhaps they'd donate a little too, I'm sure every couple of pounds helps. Good luck today Mabli and her carers.

Marking my place as have been reading and it's been a lovely story. I do hope Mabli and her pups are going to be ok

Madcatgirl · 27/10/2014 10:48

Just found and read tft. What a wonderful thread. I'm hoping everything goes well for mabli and you get to bring one of her pups home to you. I'm following on the facebook page and will send a donation shortly.

We own spanish pointy dogs and my parents have a dumped whippet. Smile

Pandora452 · 27/10/2014 10:59

Placemarking. LOVE Whelpings :D

rachmultiplemum · 27/10/2014 11:38

Mabli has been seen by the vet, all is ok, thank goodness!

The vet says she is ready to drop and if nothing has happened by Wednesday then she has to go in. Vet said that last nights activities were pre labour and both Mum and unborn pups are fine.

Better to be safe rather then sorry- so we are pleased we got her checked x

Brilliant, Soo pleased to hear that Rachel, I can now set off for Yorkshire with the DCs without worrying, will check back in this evening when we're all there.

Coincidentally my vet friend, who I was harrassing through the night on Monday, just popped in to see how she was doing, he said she was a 'little bugger' for keeping everyone in attendance for the last week, I'm inclined to agree Wink

Just read the whole thread and donated, what a wonderful story and definitely mumsnet at its finest! Hope Mabli and pups will be ok and eagerly awaiting pupdates :)

spiderlight · 27/10/2014 13:45

I knew it would be today! I dreamed about her last night. Hope it all goes smoothly, gorgeous girl!

rachmultiplemum · 27/10/2014 15:58

Thank you all for the kind donations.

Mabli is really not very comfy now. I thought it was bad enough at the end of my pregnancy when i was having twins, but this does NOT look comfy.

Oh poor mabli! Loving this thread, can't wait for good news.

BBQsAreSooooOverrated · 27/10/2014 16:29

Aww. Hope she's not waiting much longer. Poor Mabli

LoveVintage · 27/10/2014 16:33

Ooh poor love, that does not look fun. Not long now , Mabli, and you have all of us cheering on and waiting to see our grand-dogs!

Itsfab · 27/10/2014 16:39

Bless her. She looks a little bit scared and resigned.

I hope your pushing is the same length as mine with DD or DS2, Mabli though less dangerous. (20 and 7 minutes).

Christelle2207 · 27/10/2014 16:44

Shamelessly placemarking for news.

TheFutureMrsB · 27/10/2014 17:25

Watching and waiting... watching and waiting....

HoundoftheBaskervilles · 27/10/2014 18:24

Oh look at her, poor girl, she looks so uncomfortable, let's hope things happen soon for her. We're safely at my Mum's in Sheffield and have settled down for a night of waiting for Mabs, and keeping everything crossed.

This is almost as fun as waiting for a litter I'm getting a puppy from!

How many MNers are interested in one of her pups then? Grin

Bassetfeet · 27/10/2014 19:11

Gentle stroke on Mablis head and ear ruffle . It will be alright lovely ....you got a fab foster carer and us mumsnet folk with you .
Think they are going to be chunky puppies !
