My pup was castrated yesterday due to a lost testicle - we were advised this was sensible as it could cause cancer in later life if not removed. I collected him from the vets at 2pm and he has been vomiting ever since - all through the night, all day today. He can't even keep water down. He is clearly disorientated and occasionally gets up and tries to run somewhere before falling over.
I am so worried and upset. I've called the vets and am taking him at 3:30 but sat here and just wanted some support really before i go.

Littlenamechange keep weeing all you can! Fingers crossed here and loads of positive thoughts to add to the ones he has already.

namechange74 · 20/02/2014 18:07

I will upload one later for you all to admire his beauty - i will not be telling you where we live as i've no doubt he would be stolen very quickly Grin

I have just opened the fridge door & promptly closed it again - i can't be bothered to cook so i'm off to the pub for dinner.

Thanks again you lovely lovely people, you have got me through some dark hours recently x

I shall look forward to seeing the picture :)

Enjoy your pub dinner.!

moosemama · 20/02/2014 18:34

Come on little namechange, we're all rooting for you.

catsdogsandbabies · 20/02/2014 22:51

Sorry just coming back to thread. Sounds like other vets giving you good advice. I would need to see the numbers to give you a prognosis but it sounds like vet 2 is doing a good job. Glad you are going to report. The rcvs do investigate these things. So sorry you have been through this. It is possible that he can recover, but the delay in treatment caused by the crap vet hasn't helped. Let me know if I can help. Lots of vets on here!

Gileswithachainsaw · 21/02/2014 09:01

Just coming back to say I hope the tests today bring good news.

Puppy, keep fighting you have a home to get back too!!

musicposy · 21/02/2014 09:24

LEMmingaround · 21/02/2014 10:13

Sending positive vibes for good news about littlenamechange tody xx

namechange74 · 21/02/2014 10:25

Hiya all, many thanks for your kind messages and positive thoughts/prayers.

I just had a call from the senior vet at the practise. 'Little' was sick last night but that's only once since wednesday - still not great news although she did say it could be a result of a change in the diet to a high protein diet. They ran the bloods this morning and they are coming down slowly but levels are still high and not in the normal range. They are doing an ultrasound this morning to see if he has polycystic kidneys (?) and to see the extent of the damage. It sounds like if this is not the case, they think he may be ok... needless to say every minute feels like an hour at the moment.

We also had a good chat too about shit vet. She said that if no-one reports him, this will continue to happen, that countless people turn up at their surgery with pets that have suffered at the hands of him. She was so appalled by his stitches/wounds that she actually took photographs of them. She was also upset to hear that he wasn't allowed to recover there before being sent home with me, that the vet should have seen that he was able to walk/stand/drink/urinate before releasing him - as we know. I said i felt he had been negligent in his treatment of little and she said 'that's right Mrs NC' and added that she is happy to write supporting evidence for my complaint against him to the RCVS. I am also going to sue him for malpractise i've decided, whatever the outcome.

Anyway, i'm still holding on to a little hope for my boy... I don't know if i should be positive or what, i feel so guarded at the moment.

DD gone to a friends to play as i don't want her sitting here watching me being super snappy uptight mother for another day.

DH here too today, he's been crying this morning. AGGGHHH!

Hi Coconutty.
Do you think? i really hope so. I just actually feel sick. I was awake from 1:30 googling... i really must stop - i put my laptop down at 4am - i think i'm so tired i just feel drained and have lost my positivity today - probably in case it's bad news. The vet said she couldn't say either way, she was really non-committal which i guess she has to be?
Anyway, thanks for the message, he is called Snoopy Grin and looks like spit the dog - do you remember him?

OP posts:
namechange74 · 21/02/2014 10:33

In fact doesn't look like STD - someone said that to me once and i thought 'oh yes he does a bit' but didn't look at a pic. Now i've googled STD i can safely say it's not the case - my Snoopy is a very handsome chap. Going to get a pic on my profile now to prove to you all how utterly charming he is!

Your poor dog.

Your house insurance might have legal cover to sue him within?

Any vets around? LEM/Catsanddogs?
Just trying to find out a bit more about polycystic kidneys and the prognosis should Snoopy have them/it...

Owllady · 21/02/2014 12:14

I do hope it all turns out okay name change . Your new vet sounds lovely.
I will keep my fingers crossed for you all x

Christmascandles · 21/02/2014 13:51

Sorry no advice on poly whatsit but just saying hello Thanks I keep checking on snoopy's progress. I looked at my little dog earlier and thought, 'oh I do hope name changes puppy is on the mend today'.

And I am absolutely on the same page as your new vet, the next poor unsuspecting animal that goes to first vet for treatment might not be so lucky. And I know you wouldn't say that Snoopy is exactly 'lucky' but at least he's in the best place now receiving the care and attention that he deserves.

Thinking of u NC. And to MR NC Sad, chin up Brew

namechange74 · 21/02/2014 14:02

Hello all. i have NEWS. Snoopy is COMING HOME!!!! He has to go to a specialist for a further ultrasound on Monday as the vet said she's not 100% sure what she is looking at so wants a 2nd opinion, needless to say i'm happy with this as i want to know exactly what we are dealing with. Undoubtedly he will have some long term issues that we will find out about on Monday i guess, but for now, he is stable and coming home. Vets said this ultrasound should show if there's been damage during the surgery (which she suspects there may have been) or a defect from birth. Either way we all need to know.

Mr NC was crying again this morning and is now crying with relief. DD just arrived home to the good news, we are collecting him at 2:30 Grin

I will continue to update, but just wanted to let you all know and thank you again for your support you fabulous people.

BlessThisMess · 21/02/2014 14:26

Aww, just read this whole thread - so glad you are getting him home! Poor little fella, and I hope you get that other vet struck off!

Floralnomad · 21/02/2014 14:37

Congratulations ! That is good news x

Blithereens · 21/02/2014 15:06

Oh, namechange what wonderful news!! I was reading this thread with horror, not believing it just kept getting worse for your poor little man - but finally some good news!!

I am so glad you found this great vet, and that she will support you in reporting the awful one. You are doing other animal owners a favour!

I really, really hope Snoopy continues to improve. I've had animals with long-term health problems before and even if he does have something for you to deal with, the right vet makes it so much better.
