Should I reopen the happy place cafe?

I'm often awake in the night, today was a lie in for me, only properly awake since 4am.

In lockdown I opened, 'the happy place café where I would make virtual breakfasts and people would come to chat.

When it was last opened my French pastry chef Florence had married Fernando the cocktail waiter.

The kitten bees are inside because it is too old but the bumble cats are in the garden as usual.

SO should I reopen or was just something for lockdown?

I went back to sleep and have literally just opened my eyes now, it's an hour ahead here!

ScottBakula · 16/02/2023 23:53

I know I am too early for the cafe to open but I was passing and I thought I would drop off some goodies so in that box over there --> there is
The healthy ( ish ) stuff
Grapefruit, orange , pineapple guava, mango and tropical mix fruit juice.
Fresh fruit , apples, orange ,strawberry, blackberry , blackcurrant, mango, melon and Grapefruit.
Porridge made with skimmed milk .

In that much bigger box over there ---> is the non healthy stuff
Brownies, rice crispy cakes, millionaire shortbread, butter shortbread, clotted cream fudge, cheese cake, and a big flask of hot chocolate made with Jersey gold top milk .
And porridge made with gold top and soft brown sugar .

Help yourself and I will see you all later .

AromaSun · 17/02/2023 00:54

I'll be here probably in a while @ScottBakula and what a treat. I'd love some strawberries and grapefruit (even though it was only my Gran who ate it)

Some clotted cream fudge or anything sounds amazing.

I'm sure the cafe will open soon with your wonderful ideas!

Are we allowed to create any other things other than the kitten bees? Only if allowed

sashh · 17/02/2023 02:00

<Looks at the boxes, decides breakfast is mad so just puts on the coffee machine>

Morning all.

Breakfast is courtesy of @ScottBakula

Mmmmm got a craving for grapefruit please but need a small bowl of sugar on the side. Oh and a large mug of Yorkshire tea!

It's blowing a hoolie right now so can I sit inside please!

ScottBakula · 17/02/2023 03:44

Morning all ,

@AromaSun Grapefruit and strawberry sounds like a great combo.
I can't recall hiw the kitten bees were created ( @sashh ???? ) .
What we're you considering ?

Thanks @sashh I can never figure out how to set the coffee machines timer to get it to come on when the cafe opens.
I hope Florance doesn't mind me bringing all the food in .

I love grapefruit and eat them like oranges.
Here is a little bowl of sugar but mind the kitten bees don't steal it .

>> wanders to a quite spot with my grapefruit and hot chocolate <<

sashh · 17/02/2023 04:09

@ScottBakula The kitten bees.

Well I'm disabled and I have a carer and occasionally we have a drink or three together.

We were having a drunk conversation about which was the cutest animal, kittens, quokkas etc and came up with kittens the size of bees with bee stripes and wings would be the cutest animal ever.

So the kitten bees pre date the café by probably a couple of years.

Any chance of potato cakes and bottomless mug of Barry's Gold tea, please?

PaperwhiteTheGhost · 17/02/2023 04:26

Morning, I'm awake and stressing about my return to work tomorrow. Its a night shift though so it's OK, hopefully I'll sleep in and it might actually help.

Anyway, I'm going to cosy up on a beanbag by the fire, preferably with a fluffy blanket.

I'd really like some of yesterday's pancakes with some chopped strawberries and squirty cream. Maybe leave me the can to spray into my mouth. I'll also have a Baileys coffee please. Thanks!!

alienslove · 17/02/2023 04:28

@ScottBakula it all sounds delicious... now to decide...

sashh · 17/02/2023 04:59

Potato cakes on the way, I assume you want butter?

Morning all.

Shall we go Japanese?

Miso soup, rice and fish with a little seaweed to sprinkle over.

If you don't fancy Japanese Florence has some cheesy twist pastries.

OP posts:
MrsTerryPratchett · 18/02/2023 02:28

We could go Japanese. But are any of @ScottBakula millionaires shortbreads around still?

Asking for a friend.

That friend is me.

Scottishskifun · 18/02/2023 02:57

Ooo Japanese one of my favourites!

Could I please get a miso soup and a tuna sushi bowl with some jasmine tea?

Loving the menu range of the cafe!

BouleBaker · 18/02/2023 03:30

Oooh I'll give the Japanese breakfast a go. Can I have some green tea with it. and maybe a cheese twist on the side thank you Florence, I'm feeling hungry this morning.

sashh · 18/02/2023 03:33

I think the shortbread is all gone but Florence can start on that.

How remis of me not to list the teas.

Of course the café has green tea, mango infusion, white tea (leaves not milk) as well as the usual earl G.

fivetriangulartrees · 18/02/2023 03:45

What a bit of luck. I was just thinking I'd better ask for French toast as I'm sure the cafe won't have one of those Japanese giant soufflé pancakes. Well, if you're offering, I'll have a soufflé pancake please. With strawberries and icing sugar and lots of syrup. And please could I have a green tea too.

I'm going to snuggle down into the big squashy settee by the fire, if it's free. I've brought a pile of books I've been wanting to read for years and my knitting, which hasn't been touched in months.

PaperwhiteTheGhost · 18/02/2023 03:50

I made it to work so I'm just stopping by for my break.

Can I possibly have a big bowl of chicken ramen with a jasmine tea? The kind you pour over a flower and it opens.

I've only got 45 mins so I might need a takeaway box if you've got one. I'll sit in the garden so my boots don't ruin the lovely carpet.

sashh · 18/02/2023 04:10

Soufflé pancake and chicken ramen on the way.

How about a ploughman's for a pack up?

OP posts:
StopGo · 18/02/2023 04:19

Can I just sit quietly for a while? Wide awake as Ddog is feeling a bit poorly so I'm watching her sleep.

SunshineAndFizz · 18/02/2023 04:25

I'm awake with a poorly 6 month old (outfit change for both of us due due to a projectile vom).

I'd love a flat white and hot crumpets with butter please.

sashh · 18/02/2023 04:36

@SunshineAndFizz hand over the baby in exchange for the coffee. @StopGo of course, does the dog need water or anything else?
