Strictly 2022 Sequins at the Ready!

Covetingthepreciousthings · 31/07/2022 11:47

Starting a new thread as can't seem to find one yet, and suddenly feeling very aware that we are likely only days away from line up announcements!

Who do we all think will be on the line up this year? I thought last year was one of the best line ups, a good mix.

Rumours so far include Gino D'Campo, Scarlett Moffat, Steph McGovern, Dawn French..

The first announcements last year were on Wednesday 4th August, so hopefully the same again this year..

Oje! Strictly curse starting early, is it?!
No, no it's not
Adam Peaty has split with gf is all.
In other sleb twaddle, Neil is having romance with some Love island alumnus (PR/planned papping in Paris?) , Matt di Angelo is a new dad (twins) and Seann Walsh is nominated for the Edinburgh fringe comedy award.

SequinsandStilettos · 26/08/2022 16:45

Kevin and Stacey are having a baby <3

A Strictly baby! What lovely news.

like

Plus define iconic. Are they really going to choreo to Antiques Roadshow or Grandstand themes?! Surely too soon to recycle Downton or Only fools and horses?
Prokofiev (Apprentice theme) might get recycled (Sophie used it iirc) as could Graeme's Soul Limbo.
But that Blackpool Week is going to be a hard slog for me! Services, I guess they could do a generic news one and weather one, as well as cbeebies.
If I were Jayde, I would be asking to disco dance to Donna Summer's On the radio! That's a certified banger! Grin Plus you could do a sequin jumpsuit reveal after the initial sad bit...

Downton Abby is ITV so doubt that would make an appearance

I want some to do a paso to the BBC news theme. I also love The Question Time music

EvilRingahBitch · 26/08/2022 17:04

How many babies is that now?

Ben and Kristyna
Flavia and Jimi
Gemma and Gorka

anyone else?

EvilRingahBitch · 26/08/2022 17:07

Actually Google suggests that Flavi and Jimi are married but don't have a baby. I'm sure I'm missing another one.

Mrsjayy · 26/08/2022 17:14

Rachel Riley and the lovely Pasha have 2 babies

My Dd stopped following Neil on Instagram she couldn't be bothered with him parading his young girlfriend like a "show dog" she said its creepy 😳

Gooseysgirl · 26/08/2022 17:39

About to be very cynical...

Strictly Class of 22's Richie Anderson is on Radio 2 covering for Sara Cox this evening (he is absolutely WOEFUL had to turn it off) totally not timed to give him exposure ahead of launch show 🤨

Yep. Like this. After confiscating Neil's rugby ball prop. Bless, Neil does not look like a womaniser though, Gio or Vito maybe.

DWS looks much slicker and more professional than Strictly

SequinsandStilettos · 27/08/2022 04:12

The production values are high but not necessarily better: above is series 8. They are now on series 31. They don't have a live band now, they have obscure tracks at times, and so many theme weeks you lose track. They seem to use less props of late but they did start the overtheming in the first place and we followed suit, along with contemporary. The only thing we have never adopted is switch-up, trio dances and team challenges, instead having our danceathons.
The team challenge above, however, is good because Derek Hough had a huge hand in it. His team challenges always hit the right notes (he is now a judge).

Any of you wanting to see full series of DWTS it starts Sept 19 and will be shown on disney +.
I do not have that but know you can cancel and you can use tesco club card vouchers, so that's my Autumn sorted!!

covetingthepreciousthings · 27/08/2022 08:09

That's great that DWTS will be shown on Disney + might dip in and out of it depending if I even recognise any of the line up.

SequinsandStilettos · 27/08/2022 08:17

I am cutting out such a lot of stuff right now, including subscriptions, that Strictly as usual is my go-to to get me through Winter. I haven't looked on tesco yet but if it is still £8 for three months Disney membership, that will be an extra pick-me-up.

GrouchyKiwi · 27/08/2022 10:11

I'd probably have Disney + over Netflix, tbh. There are SO MANY good shows on there. (As it is we have both, and Prime, because Netflix has an excellent set of educational shows and we home ed.)

Thanks for info re DWTS on Disney. Might put it on for the children when they get through their current programmes.

Mrsjayy · 27/08/2022 10:37

I like Disney + the dc bought it between them and dd2 has just moved out so free Disney + for me 😃

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 27/08/2022 14:40

I'll watch this on Monday — it's Stacey's production company. It should give an idea of how normal competitive ballroom works and you'll see some brilliant dancing.

I could start a new thread or we could chat on here about it if anybody else watches.

SequinsandStilettos · 27/08/2022 16:34

Oh, cheers polka. Looks interesting. How are you, lovely? Shall take a look and join you on here or your new thread Xx 💃

Thanks! I don't know if we have Disney or not as it wouldn't be a channel we would normally watch in this house, but 'll check.

I don't want to derail the thread but we have Disney+ would you mind giving me some recommendations of shows that are good to watch on there please?

Depends what you like. Of course, it’s got all the Marvel shows on there - Wandavision is fab if you are into that sort of thing - but there’s some things you wouldn’t expect - we’ve just watched Under the Banner of Heaven on there which was really good, plus box sets like Bones and Castle, etc.

I watch a lot of national geographic on Disney + although I'm currently watching Under The Banner of Heaven Andrew Garfield is in it , it's about a murder in salt lake city I'm enjoying it.

You have every Disney film to choose from.

TreacleMoon2 · 27/08/2022 18:46

Only Murders in the Building is excellent on Disney+
