Starting a new thread as can't seem to find one yet, and suddenly feeling very aware that we are likely only days away from line up announcements!

Who do we all think will be on the line up this year? I thought last year was one of the best line ups, a good mix.

Rumours so far include Gino D'Campo, Scarlett Moffat, Steph McGovern, Dawn French..

The first announcements last year were on Wednesday 4th August, so hopefully the same again this year..

Alex Scott had time off apparently.
But yeh apart from the celebs with no other jobs currently most do other stuff.

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 11/08/2022 13:39

Fleur is a beautiful and talented woman

with a big whiff of ringah about her so I’ll be put right off.

MrsMcisaCt · 11/08/2022 13:43

I find Fleur a bit full of herself but I'm sure she'll be a good dancer and really throw herself in to it.

Aquarius1234 · 11/08/2022 13:53

Fleur was so predictable, I wished she had already done it. Same with Helen.

To be fair, there's nothing about her Wikipedia entry that suggests ringer. She went to a normal school and studied journalism and history at university. She may have done hobby (I.e.non-vocational) dance classes as a child, but to my mind that doesn't make her a ringer.

On the other hand, Molly Rainford studied full-time at Sylvia Young, so she's had full triple threat training. Not that I'm complaining. I love a ringer personally; I think the series would be boring if we didn't have a couple in the mix.

MrsMcisaCt · 11/08/2022 13:53

Hamas Yazin from CBeebies.

MrsMcisaCt · 11/08/2022 13:55

Oops, Hamza Yassin.

Aquarius1234 · 11/08/2022 13:56

Deffo haven't heard of him. Cameraman bit different at least.

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 11/08/2022 14:19

Molly is ringery also. Kym too. Maybe not so much.

I don’t enjoy ringers. Is it lovely watching them dance? Undoubtedly. But when someone is accustomed to performing and dancing, putting them up against others who are not gives them such an advantage.

There will always be someone like me who couldn’t find rhythm in a sealed bottle. There will always be someone who has danced, has got rhythm and performance skills and will excel because they are accustomed to it all. And no matter how much dufferfeet folk have improved, the judges will always go with those who can shift themselves from the get go.

I just prefer a more even playing field. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I’ve seen Hamza on the box. His view of the world is beautiful.

FartOutLoudDay · 11/08/2022 15:08

Tooooooo many presenters!

JanisMoplin · 11/08/2022 15:14

Yes, aren't there any other jobs?

Gooseysgirl · 11/08/2022 15:14

DD will be excited about Hamza - she loves him on the Longleat programme

JanisMoplin · 11/08/2022 15:15

I love ringers. Every year I love the ringer instead of the one with the journey:)

While I don't disagree, it's worth remembering that most years there's at least one 'shockboot' (as the much-missed Monkseal would have it) where two ringers end up in the DO because the public has voted like mad to keep in the duffers they like and the judges, with much huffing, have to kick one of them out.
And the final, of course, is all down to the voting public.

GrouchyKiwi · 11/08/2022 15:34

I love the ringers too.

Oh good, every year I am alone in my love of Alexandra Burke, Ashley Roberts, Maisie Smith et al:) I like a nice confident young woman ( they are usually women).

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 11/08/2022 15:44

It is more than being confident young women for me. Confidence is a beautiful thing in anyone.

Sometimes there is a fine line between that and blaw for me. And it isn’t just the women.

Being a blaw isn’t quite so beautiful.

And as helena says, the public will often get the same feeling and initiate a shockboot.

Gooseysgirl · 11/08/2022 15:51

Hamza has described his dance skills as 'at the level of 1970s disco vibe' and will be 'shaking it every time he gets the chance'... I am HERE for it 😄

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 11/08/2022 15:58

I’m there for that. Letting go and having a fun time is hugely watchable for me goosey.

And I’m fairly fond of a disco vibe.

Getting Ed Balls vibes. Whom I did enjoy very much though he was not a ringer!

Aquarius1234 · 11/08/2022 16:43

2 more men to go and Helen..

Maireas · 11/08/2022 17:15

Is Jayde a ringer? I think she danced competitively, but maybe it was a long time ago

Yes, it seems she had a lot of dance lessons as a child - I think her aunt was a dance teacher? For me, there will always be levels of imbalance and we should just celebrate them where they are. It's never going to be completely fair - even if we have a whole group of never-set-foot-on-a-dance-floor people, the actors will still be at advantage over sports people etc.

Mrsjayy · 11/08/2022 17:24

Jayde danced in free style disco with her late sister as a kid.

BeaLola · 11/08/2022 18:59

Strangely enough today whilst looking through the online stuff I thought Amanda Lamb could be a good choice ? Although she would be another Presenter !

I guess in a few years find a proportion of this years contestants will be on Celebrity Masterchef

There must be some further sports people taking part surely ???
