I watched this today and missed the start so I was v confused by Brian and Amy’s relationship till Phil said ‘wife’

i did think Brian’s needs were ignored.

The revamped kitchen was weird- you'd need to be a stick insect to fit behind the table and she said it seated 10. Why did he want a place with land when he had poor mobility? Very strange. And the green colour of the snug 🤢

I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed her bosom! Bit hard not to tbh, when she had it out on show so much 😁

Used to enjoy this but DH tends to moan and chunter all the way through about house prices and how we could do a better job etc etc. Same with location location, changing rooms etc. It's exhausting after a while.

Amy really reminded me of Angel in Escape to the Chateau.

I like to think that his first wife died and his kids were happy he found someone new. They were pictured playing with the grandkids on the beach at the start. Looks like Amy fell on her feet with getting the business and the house though.

She did well building the cabinets. I kind of felt that even if they had a full bungalow they would still keep separate rooms.

I think that it might have made him a bit of a local laughing stock/figure of sympathy as a formerly capable businessman. Odd that he agreed to it.

It didn’t do anything for the useability of the house, but getting rid of the stone cladding on the front and changing the door really made a huge difference and would probably have enhanced the value.

I watched this episode and just couldn't quite place my finger on why something felt odd 🤔

I'm trying to work out their ages... I'm assuming she's mid thirties and he's around 70 if there's the 34 year age gap?

I hope he'll get a house more suited to his needs and health in a few years 😔

So glad there's a thread on this - I thought it was the weirdest episode ever. She obviously didn't want to move because she liked having her own space that he couldn't access (in his own home!), Phil couldn't show him anything that fitted his criteria and Brian must have known that (unless he thinks Phil is literally a magician), Kirsty hardly did a thing - they pretty much ignored her advice and Amy did it most of it herself (it looked as if she was auditioning for a spin-off in which she gets a job doing carpentry and cushions as a change from the pest control). Kirsty and Phil must get loads of people applying to be on the show - I can't for the life of me think why they would have picked these two, unless there was a requirement to have a Northern Ireland episode and they were the only option

To be fair they did say that there were real problems with supply of materials and labour (which is a general issue after Brexit, Covid and Ukraine) so I suspect that the whole series is going to be beset by people who couldn’t get their work done on time or within budget. But yes, Amy definitely did seem to have an eye on her own DIY show. Maybe that’s why I got such strong “Angel from Escape to the Chateau” vibes from her.

Every now and again I think the series gets infiltrated!
Often a couple where one firmly wears the trousers and there's no intention to move but they go through the motions and say the right things but they're there for Kirsty's re-design and the builders.

Lovely couple this week, massive house, in that the rooms are massive even if not enough and badly laid out.
Think this one might have been a good candidate for my perfect house.

I really like their house too. The colours and decor etc. Always wanted a red kitchen! Not sure about the layout though.
