Did anyone see this - I only saw the last few places and I want to know what the others were! Can't even see anything listing them on the C4 website.

Epsom and Ewell was the top - and it's where we are trying to rent. Good old dh gets a gold star for homework

South Cambridgeshire, East Hertfordshire, Westminister, Epson, various other surrey places were in the top 10...hang on..just trying to remember the rest

All the 'good' places were dull as you like (except possible Westminster). I used to live in the 4th worst place (Hackney) and loved it

futurity · 09/08/2005 21:13

Bad...Nottingham. Hackney..crumbs my brain has gone..I was ironing whilst watching it!

Gobbledigook · 09/08/2005 21:13

Oh, don't tell me - nearly all best places to live were south of Birmingham. What a shock!

This was the crieria:

Crime: Criteria include violence against the person, sexual crimes, robbery, burglary, theft of a car and theft from a car.

Education: Statistics based on the percentage of 15 year olds in each local authority achieving five or more GCSEs or equivalent at grades A to C. Only LEA-maintained state schools have been included.

Environment: Four criteria for each local authority, including sunshine hours, rainfall level, access to parks and open spaces, and life expectancy.

Lifestyle: Culture and leisure facilities and the number of retail outlets, bars, cafes, restaurants and hotels nearby.

Employment: The percentage of economically active people in employment from the period 2003-2004. This segment of the population is the number of people who are fit to work, i.e. not retired, disabled etc, and who have a full or part time job. Again, the numbers were separated into local authority areas.

Damn, forgot it was on.

Intrigued to know how many of the places they have actually tried living in, rather than just spouting ill informed opinions.

I live in Hull, born and bred here. Fair enough it doesn't deserve to be in the top ten best places but it certainly doesn't deserve to be classed as the worst either.

turquoise · 09/08/2005 21:27

Ashford was one of the best - bggr me I'd hate to live in the worst then!

moondog · 09/08/2005 21:28

I'm sure Warrington was considered the worst place of all GDG.....

Gobbledigook · 09/08/2005 21:32

Warrington? Eh?

Oh, did you think I lived there? I don't!

hoxtonchick · 09/08/2005 21:35

moondog · 09/08/2005 21:36

The best places are top secret!

TwoIfBySea · 09/08/2005 22:50

Was there some reason stated as why nowhere in Scotland was mentioned? A bit bias that all the best areas seemed to be in the same part of the country.
