Did anyone see this - I only saw the last few places and I want to know what the others were! Can't even see anything listing them on the C4 website.

hmc - you should try Whitby where my M&D live!
It makes Scarborough seem grand

Lizzylou · 10/08/2005 12:56

Don't shatter my illusions of you HMC!!!
I have visions of you looking all glam!

Janh · 10/08/2005 12:56

But Clitheroe is near Burnley, raspberry! [puzzled]

oliveoil · 10/08/2005 12:59

I think Phil and Kirsty are good presenters actually, she is gorgeous. And always has nice shoes .

And Phil seems very capable swoon.

handlemecarefully · 10/08/2005 13:01

Splutter - choke (half gagging on a ham sandwich) at Lizzylou's misconception of me
lol, lol, lol

northerner · 10/08/2005 13:02

Yes I swoon over Phil too. Have to disagree about Kitsty though, I don't like her style. Too many pearls and twin sets for my liking.

handlemecarefully · 10/08/2005 13:02

Oliveoil - you think she is gorgeous???

She isn't back end of the bus or anything I agree, but gorgeous?

Raspberry · 10/08/2005 13:03

Yes I know, but I'm sure its not on the tip of your tongue when describing your locale JanH.

For instance, one may say Haworth is in 'Bronte Country' rather than just outside Keighley

I know its 'spin' but we all tend to do it, that's all I'm saying

Gobbledigook · 10/08/2005 13:03

I was really surprised nowhere in Cheshire came up actually - Alderely Edge or somewhere similar. Or even somewhere in the Lake District which is just idyllic.

However, since one of the criteria was sunshine hours and rainfall, it's little surprise that the Southern counties came out highly.

Like Moondog - the whole of the South East just merges into one big blur for me.

As someone has already said though - it's very subjective and the list was compiled based on discrete criteria and they aren't going to be everyone's criteria for the no. 1 place to live.

I thought Kirsty was funny when she looked around that flat in Westminster 'And after a week I'd be fat as a pig'!!!

Yes! Her skin looks all peachy and fresh. And I like her voice.

handlemecarefully · 10/08/2005 13:06

maybe she has chemical peels [bitchy emoticon]

Janh · 10/08/2005 13:06

Oh, I do, raspberry!

Depends who I'm talking to and what I think their knowledge of NW geography is like but generally I say it's between Burnley and Blackburn (I'm dead common, me!)

Lizzylou · 10/08/2005 13:06

I think Kirsty is really attractive too, OO, but she does tend to wear the wrong clothes for her shape, esp as TV adds on the pounds....agree about her fab shoes tho!

northerner · 10/08/2005 13:06

Does she have a nice chap I wonder?

handlemecarefully · 10/08/2005 13:07

No, I've got nothing against her really - she seems pleasant enough, but just didn't really see her as attractive

Raspberry · 10/08/2005 13:08

In the heart of the Lancashire Dales, skirting the Forest of Bowland, perhaps?

Lizzylou · 10/08/2005 13:09

I have just moved closer to Burnley and have been exploring the area and was literally gobsmacked at how may really lovely places there are round here....Barrowford, Clitheroe, Simonstone, Read...that lovely village just by Read with the stream running through the middle of it...beautiful! Thats why stating that whole cities/towns like Nottingham and Hull are no-go areas is v unhelpful!

handlemecarefully · 10/08/2005 13:09

Chester is a nice place...

Janh · 10/08/2005 13:09

I love Kirsty and Phil - esp love her enthusiasm for knocking things down (bet she never gets her hands dirty though)

They were asking for people to do LLL round here recently - and R-L - so "between Burnley and Blackburn" will be on the next series I hope.

Janh · 10/08/2005 13:10

The village by Read, lizzylou??? Wondering where you mean. (Not Wycoller?)

Janh · 10/08/2005 13:10

Lancashire Dales? LOL.

Ribble Valley, dear.

Lizzylou · 10/08/2005 13:11

I don't know, you go through Read and Simonstone and there is a lovely manor house hotel there (I went there for a wedding)....DH and I stopped and hd a walk around dreaming that we could live there!!! But it is too far away from Manchester for his commute....selfish man!!!

Janh · 10/08/2005 13:12

The Higher Trapp? Up behind the main road?

Lizzylou · 10/08/2005 13:14

I can't remember the name, it is just through the village and up a private road...I don't think it was called the Higher Trapp...sorry!!

Raspberry · 10/08/2005 13:14

Lizzylou!!!! [SHOCK]

DONT TELL 'EM!

(southerners believe the spin they see on telly about the north all being like Oldham riots and Corrie, we know better of course, they still think there's mill stacks and smog up here!)

Keep it for ourselves, for god sake!
