Did anyone see this - I only saw the last few places and I want to know what the others were! Can't even see anything listing them on the C4 website.

OP posts:

Just wondered why the town we are currently stuck in wasn't on the worst list, thats all!

PeachyClair · 09/08/2005 23:34

Mosschops, where do you live? I love it here in Caerleon! HATED Bridgwater, where I lived for 31 years before... sure that is really the worst place to live!

moondog · 09/08/2005 23:38

But how can Brdigwater be foul?? Thought it was in a lovely part of Somerset. It is the home of Association for Breastfeeding Mothers so to me is holy ground.

Janh · 09/08/2005 23:39

beetroot is just up the road from Bridgwater.

(Totally unhelpful but thought I'd mention it anyway )

Blossomhill · 09/08/2005 23:40

Oh I live about 3 miles from Epsom and Ewell

Blossomhill · 09/08/2005 23:40

I love Bridgwater as that's where Bibic is.

Janh · 09/08/2005 23:40

I thought Ashford came top?

PeachyClair · 09/08/2005 23:41

Cerys from the ABM, right? yes she's lovely but let's say Bridgwater isn't like the rest of SOmerset! When they have an industrial dump they want but not anywhere nice, to Bridgwater it goes. When they want to close a factory, it's there. My kids last school even had nuclear waste cannisters stored on site!!! Seriously (because it was near the staion). The palce has a huge problem with antisocial behaviour, a really glum and grey outlook and if you try and achieve you're an outcast.

The carnival is good though!

Most people in 'nice' Somerset avoid Bridgwater like the plague IME.

moondog · 09/08/2005 23:41

My aunt lives there! Some of it is built up and foul, but she has a nice place in a pretty part.

PeachyClair · 09/08/2005 23:42

Blossomhill, BIBIC is Bawdrip, much nicer (we're going soon- we've been told our grant is 99 % cetain! Is it good then? I know it as a professional, but as a parent?)

moondog · 09/08/2005 23:43

Come to where I am! Land of the breeze block, half finished buildings and litter and crap everywhere. In town at least. I psml when people assume that everyone in Turkey lives in a whitewashed villa by the Med,sipping wine and sunbathing.

Blossomhill · 09/08/2005 23:44

Loved it peachyclair. Was such a life changing experience (corny but true). Dd loved it so much that she often puts on the dvd and cannot wait until we go back in October.

Blossomhill · 09/08/2005 23:45

Oh that has really shattered all of my illusions of your lifestyle moondog

PeachyClair · 09/08/2005 23:45

Ah Monndog, lucky your Aunt, we lived in the foul bit , but not the fouklest bit, I just worrked there (some lovely big estates)

jampots · 09/08/2005 23:49

i thought stratford upon avon was up there somewhere. but neighbouring warwick was one of the worst places certainly in the midlands.

moondog · 09/08/2005 23:53

Lol bh!!
Well it is lovely a mile or so out-snow capped mountains, aquamarine lake, blue sky and sunshine evry day of the year, cherry trees, tiny 12century churches and so on but Van itself is a little.......basic!

Turks have a lot to learn about town planning and waste control.

Janh · 09/08/2005 23:53

Ashford, Stratford and Harrogate were top 3 possibly? (Thing on R2 in the afternoon was talking about it, I think that was what he said)

moondog · 09/08/2005 23:54

PC,my aunt flogs new houses for a living. Visited some of her places. Amazed at the relentless spread of new build boxes. And the price tags-!!!

moondog · 09/08/2005 23:55

Wot???
Are Stratford and Harrogate shite too???????

Eh???

Janh · 09/08/2005 23:55

No, TOP 3, not bottom!

moondog · 09/08/2005 23:57

Eh???
I'm confused.... So Ashford is supposed to be good then??

Janh · 09/08/2005 23:58

Yes! Good quality of life and cheap housing - £180,000 buys you a 3-bed detached atm apparently but when the high-speed rail link gets going prices will shoot up. (Or so it said on the Mail's website only I can't find the page now).

dinny · 09/08/2005 23:59

Ashford is awful, isn't it?

moondog · 10/08/2005 00:00

Madness isn't it that we now think a house that is just short of 200K is a bargain???

Janh · 10/08/2005 00:00

Found it, phew
