I am so excited I am literally sitting here bouncing after watching the 2nd trailer

It's OK I know I'm sad, especially as I really want the "Gene says relax" T-Shirt

OP posts:

the Wylie pages give only a little away - gives you lists of things to look for and only seems to increase the anitcipation!

diddl · 12/05/2010 13:54

What did the young Martin Summers look like?

diddl · 12/05/2010 13:57

Was it this guy?

RooBear · 12/05/2010 13:59

just marking my place, can't believe I didn't know this thread existed! its my fri existance!!

KayHarker · 12/05/2010 14:43

Ian Wylie is very good at tantalizing without giving too much away.

Clydesdale · 12/05/2010 16:10

have you seen Keats' letters on the BBC site?

Letter 5 is sooooooo creepy

Clydesdale · 12/05/2010 16:28

young martin summers here
pc M6620 here

lottiejenkins · 12/05/2010 17:23

I think the pc m6620 looks like Chris!

diddl · 12/05/2010 17:49

Re letter 5- I thought GH was "cradling" Viv when he died?

KayHarker · 12/05/2010 17:52

Keats did that wierd head-holding thing to Viv. Horribly unshaded baddie that he is.

zen1 · 12/05/2010 20:23

Is is just me, or does pc M6620 in Clydesdale's link look like he might have one of theose "face off" masks on? If you zoom in to his ear, looks like you could peel it off, almost like a bit of his skin is melting...

BelleDameSansMerci · 12/05/2010 21:47

I am going to miss Ashes soooo much

BelleDameSansMerci · 12/05/2010 21:59

One of my friends just asked if she could come over on Friday evening... I've put her off because of Ashes. How bad is that

KayHarker · 12/05/2010 23:34

Not bad at all. It's entirely reasonable.

Big spoiler released on Radio4 this evening, glad I didn't hear it. Concerns Sam and Gene, and it's pretty enormous. I shall leave it to you consciences to go fetch if you're interested.

BelleDameSansMerci · 13/05/2010 07:04

Whaaaaaaaaaaaaat! Fetch from where??

Nymphadora · 13/05/2010 08:13

ARGGGGGHHHHHHHHH!

Don't do that , I want to know but it may spoli the whole thing

ARRRRRRHHHHHHHHH!

bambipie · 13/05/2010 10:14

Only saw the last ep last night - wow, it was good! Keats is so creepy, I had a 'can't leave my feet dangling below the chair' moment when he was with Viv. Kind of reminded me of Turn of the Screw when you never know quite what the governess does to the child - comforting? taking soul? killing?

Kind of go along with the devil taking the soul theory, but could he have just been strangling him?

Definately think the armbadge reflection in Gene's window was important.

Also I remember hearing the writters of LOM do an interview in which they said that thay didn't know (then) why Sam had gone back in time, just that they thought it would be a good 'device'. So early 'clues' might not be important!

Am so hoping it isn't stupid astronaut ending, but there was a bit when Alex was in an office and the windows / computers kind of looked like a spaceship and it was all black outside.

KayHarker · 13/05/2010 10:39

It's in the 'frontrow' programme on the radio 4 website. If you honestly can't wait a day

Clydesdale · 13/05/2010 13:05

A2A form Radio Times for tomorrow here

and for next week here

BelleDameSansMerci · 13/05/2010 14:18

Listened to R4... Oooooh!

LongtimeinBrussels · 13/05/2010 15:30

this page (don't worry, no spoilers)

KayHarker · 13/05/2010 18:35

Each to their own. I happen to love the whole franchise and think it's all been well-executed, and I've never been one of the people who disliked Alex Drake either.

LongtimeinBrussels · 13/05/2010 20:56

I am a bit confused though. For Life on Mars, I presumed Sam was in a coma and the 70s thing was all in his head. Hearing things from the "real world" on the tv etc seemed to confirm this. Then he went back to the present which would also appear to confirm this. Then he committed suicide and reappeared in the 70s. I presumed that the time between reappearing and driving off with Gene and the gang was the time he was dying in real time and that once he was actually dead, the 70s bit would cease to exist.

Then of course came Ashes to Ashes and we were told that Sam lived for some years which doesn't tally with my thoughts for the end of LoM. To start with I also presumed Alex was in a coma and that Ray, Chris and Shaz were just incidental, ie not that they had their own issues to be resolved. Out of the five series, it's only really in this series that this has been developed, isn't it?

Does anyone know, did Matthew Graham have the A2A ending for the series from the very beginning, I mean from the beginning of LoM? He wanted to do a third series of LoM, didn't he, but John Simms said no?

I'm taking this way too seriously

Clayhead · 13/05/2010 21:10

I heard an interview with the writers where they said they had the basic idea from the beginning but have tweaked it along the way.
