I am so excited I am literally sitting here bouncing after watching the 2nd trailer

It's OK I know I'm sad, especially as I really want the "Gene says relax" T-Shirt

Ooh have just finished watching it and my stomach is still in my mouth. Keats is so horrible, definitely bad angel of death - that's two people who have died and he didn't help them - and I can't understand why Alex even appears to trust him. I'm hoping in the final two episodes that she pretends to do what he says but really trusts Gene all along.

And I think her ghost with the burnt face, mr 6620, may very well be a young Gene Hunt.

Was very clever having a different actor saying he was Sam Tyler. After all if he had been John Simm we would have all believed him, this way there's still lots of doubt. But he definitely had something to do with the old team - which is why Ray and Chris were debating whether to tell Alex or not. Not sure why Gene was beating him up, though, or why, if he knows all the answers, he's still stuck in the 'geneverse'.

About to read the DigitalSpy thread and see what theories are being bandied about now.

CalmCalmCalm · 07/05/2010 22:35

I think pseudoSam was a pseud - he seemed a little bit too anxious to get out of the station after he gave Alex the tin, like he wan't to make sure he escaped. Unless Sam is somehow "bleeding through" from wherever he is, so he is both Thordy (or whatever his name was) and Sam.

I really want to know what happened to Annie. I find it very odd that she has had so few mentions - why didn't she come to London with the rest of them (especially if Sam was dead). If I was Alex she'd be the first person I would seek out.

But my goodness they've got a lot of loose ends to tie up in the next two eps.

Tillyboo · 07/05/2010 22:35

I think Gene & Jim reveal themselves at the point at which the character dies.

Viv looked terrified when he looked into Keats face tonight as if he knew who he was - we only saw Viv's reaction. Same when Gene spoke to the chap the other week, he freaked at whatever Gene showed him ...

I am officially confused. When Viv was in Life On Mars he was Sam Tyler's mentor in the future - so how come he is dead now? Is this an alternate reality? Or not reality at all.
Arrrgggh my head hurts....

I don't think thats the same cop superoz but I could be wrong.

I think the burnt copper might be Gene too.
Fairly certain Gene and Jim know each others role in it all.
I'm going with Reality's Bad and good angel, tonight seem to confirm that Jim is bad and gene is good.
Maybe if a person discovers who they are they cross over. He doesn't want Alex to know because he wants her to stay in his world.

How long was sam in the 70's for? Just wondering if it was significant that Alex mentioned she's been there for 3 years.

I think Sam was in the 70s for 7 years (73- 80).

Keats definitely got creepier tonight. The whistling was very disturbing. Did anyone else get the sense that Keats knew what was going to happen/what Viv had done - like he was just biding his time before he'd be able to get his soul.

Sorry if someone's already said this, but why did Alex say she'd know Gene for three years? It's still only 1983, and she went back to 1982 - or am I missing something really obvious?

snoozulooz · 07/05/2010 22:53

It's not the same copper, superoz. That was DC Glen Fletcher, who went on to head up the division, I think.

Valpollicella · 07/05/2010 23:12

Interesting CJ...

I didn't pick up on that

Is the photo of the copper in the tin Gene...? That roll of film she pulled out looked way too modern for it to be 80's film....

I actually shouted out when I realised it was Keats getting to Viv before Gene...'Nooo he's the angel of death!!'

Even though I knew due to the spoiler I got given earlier....Still had a tear!

superoz · 07/05/2010 23:14

Diaryofanobody and snoozulooz, you're right - looked it up on Wiki and it is a different copper. Your memories are better than mine!

Is it me or does Keats seem to help them along to death? Almost like the grim reaper, sooo creepy.

CJCregg · 07/05/2010 23:17

Valpolicella, what was the spoiler - about Viv dying, or something about Keats?

I thought he was truly creepy in tonight's episode. It's a really good part, and all credit to Daniel Mays, he plays him really well - he can be incredibly sympathetic, and then it's genuinely shocking when he turns ...

chimchar · 07/05/2010 23:20

Still no theories from me, but me and my dh were on the edge of our seats watching tonight.

Keats is well scary....

democraticqueen · 07/05/2010 23:25

ok, have been lurking on this thread for a bit and youve probably already found this but just found this quote: "Ashes to ashes and dust to dust
If God won't have him the Devil must"
on here there is also a series of graphic novels about the devil called ashes to ashes. as you were (wine has been taken)

Valpollicella · 07/05/2010 23:25

CJ - It was all about Viv - both the fact that he died and that he had taken the gun in. I was

He does play Keats very well, and definately has that creepy, clam, 'gonna pull you close so I can send you on your way' influence

CJCregg · 07/05/2010 23:27

Thanks Valpol (is that Calpol for grown-ups?) - really sad about Viv.
