I'm Shock at the 'grabbing'. Had no idea this was going on in the UK today. Something needs to be done.

Tommy · 01/02/2011 22:01

it's all changed from just having a bit of a laugh at the chav dresses hasn't it?

MoldyWarp · 01/02/2011 22:01

Norman not shed a tear at Bridget and her Mummy dancing?

CaveMum · 01/02/2011 22:02

There is a MASSIVE difference between an educated woman that wants to stay at home and look after her children and a woman who is forced to stay at home through lack of education and the domination of her husband.

Thank goodness their are young traveller women like Noreen, and older women like Bridget, who show what can be done.

OhForBoonessSake · 01/02/2011 22:02

women really are nothing in that world. nothing but cook, cleaner and arsewiper for men. so Angry and Sad for those girls. so unbelievably wrong and i dont give a shit if you think i am wrong for saying that. the way those girls are treated throughout their lives is wrong.

LifeIsButtercream · 01/02/2011 22:02

Where is all that money coming from? (remembers having to make own wedding cake and cut corners despite both me and ex working full-time) Confused

Katiekitty · 01/02/2011 22:02

"Old-fashioned values"?

Oh, like beheading? And slavery? And Scurvy?

Just cos it's old, doens't mean it's ok.

Christ, I'm cross witht his effing programme

How do the women and girls keep slipping through the net?

roundtable · 01/02/2011 22:03

I wonder if Channel Four will have any complaints about violence from this show?

Very upsetting, I dodn't know it was like that. I just hope that Channel Four is not misrepresenting them by choosing the most outlandish minorities that they can and making it seem like their normal behaviour. Sad

roundtable · 01/02/2011 22:03

didn't

OhForBoonessSake · 01/02/2011 22:04

i really dont get their logic. they just do it without question. martin tom was asked if the girls enjoyed the grab and he said no not unless she really liked the fella!! well doesn't that tell you something martin tom???

Katiekitty · 01/02/2011 22:05

Buttercream I couldn't help but wonder about where the money is coming from too

Bridget's mum - how did she pay for that wedding? How did she have such a massive house?

Don't care if I get flamed

Normantebbit · 01/02/2011 22:05

No too pissed off with the violence and misogyny. Although yes it's sad Bridget won't be allowed by her husband to see her mum whenever she wants, too busy cleaning his fucking caravan

bulby · 01/02/2011 22:06

I am sick of hearing the whole 'they are so moral' line. Not having sex before marriage is ONE moral thing. Abuse, driving past a possibly seriously injured person on the pavement, sticking fingers up at basic laws does not a moral life make.

Tommy · 01/02/2011 22:07

they don't have anyone to teach them better values. They leave school early, the only examples muxt be the older men in their families who learned from their fathers.
They couldn't even behave properly at the paint balling place - they hadn't been taught normal social behaviour.
How is it going to change ?

RitaLynn · 01/02/2011 22:08

Christ, that programme was so depressing. What a horrible culture

Normantebbit · 01/02/2011 22:09

Well I've been having sex before marriage for nearly 20 yeRs and consider myself a moral person

CaveMum · 01/02/2011 22:09

Perhaps Channel 4 have actually played this one very well - show the "funny" things in the first few episodes (big dresses, skimpy outfits, dodgy dancing), pull in the viewing figures and then bring it home with a sharp dose of reality.

ChickensHaveNoEyebrows · 01/02/2011 22:10

I thought that CaveMum. They've played a blinder.

I think bridget is the one who was in New magazine and she was months pregnant on wedding daay? So clearly not all virgins.

And you think with all that 'grabbing' going on she is unusual? No wonder the average age of marriage is so young.

One sister married at 16...

Yup its both statutory and actual rape.

Sick rapist culture made acceptable by forced marriage.

OhForBoonessSake · 01/02/2011 22:11

"Not having sex before marriage is ONE moral thing"

i dont even agree that that counts as moral practise. 1) i dont see sex before marriage as immoral and 2) when the choice is taken from you, there is nothing moral about it.

roundtable · 01/02/2011 22:12

Could be onto one there Cavemum

fuzzypicklehead · 01/02/2011 22:14

I would like to find out more about the subject, i.e. is it really always like that or have they edited and chosen the most outlandish bits to stir up controversy. But where would you find an unbiased source of information?

Cain · 01/02/2011 22:14

Crosspost Cavemum. Bang on.

Choufleur · 01/02/2011 22:16

I really very angry for the young girls on it. If someone "grabbed" me like that it would count as sexual assault.

Yes and where the hell do they get their money from. that cake must have cost more than my entire wedding.
