Btw, what should the soldier have done to sort out his salty "jus"? He said he knew afterwards but didn't reveal what it was?

Lonicera · 29/10/2009 21:35

Jj and James are like an older version of john and Edward

Knakard · 29/10/2009 21:37

OOOh been looking forward to this! they came to my restaurant earlier in the year. Be warned they are a fucking mare!!!

flashharriet · 29/10/2009 21:39

Knakard, spill!

RTKangaMummy · 29/10/2009 21:39

I think you put chunks of potato in it to get rid of salt

RTKangaMummy · 29/10/2009 21:41

kankard please dont say who it was who came

cos it will say the result in coming weeks

MrsMuddle · 29/10/2009 21:43

Slubber, I'd go to a Scotch egg restaurant too. How fab would that be?

DeepDarkWood, think the crumble thing was because they cooked the fruit and then put the crumble on top and stuck it under the grill, so only the top was cooked. He told them to spread it out on a tray to toast it all, and then put it on top of the fruit.

flashharriet · 29/10/2009 21:47

Oh I didn't think of that RTKM

NotaStepfordWife · 29/10/2009 21:47

flashharriet - I think you add significant amount of water then pour half away, then reduce.

They are all muppets... looking for gravalax in ASDA fgs! Then serving RB with salmon from a packet. Classic tv.

Slubberdegullion · 29/10/2009 21:51

yowch

BecauseImWorthIt · 29/10/2009 21:57

OMG

How on earth do they choose these people?

I wouldn't have chosen any of them!

Lucycat · 29/10/2009 22:00

Slubber- we're camping in Northumberland at the moment! Gorgeous weather really warm - thank gawd for the iPhone when it goes dark at 5pm!!
wish you were here?

Slubberdegullion · 29/10/2009 22:02

Lucycat - Wow. You are so hard core. Yes I wish I was camping, the weather has been fab this week.

Lucycat · 29/10/2009 22:07

It isjust gorgeous- burnt my nose today on the beach at Bamburgh! As for hard core erm i dunno I do have my hot water bottle
smile)

purpleturtle · 30/10/2009 00:05

Made the mistake of watching on iplayer when we went to bed. Now I'm so wound up I won't get to sleep!

Why oh why do people who've patently never cooked in their lives think it would be fun to run a restaurant? Don't get it!

Is the gaffer tape and cushion device patented Slubber? Might need it for the future.

FrightsMonth · 30/10/2009 08:10

I've just watched on iplayer
at lucycat in Bamburgh. Have you been to the butchers yet? Now, they do a really good scotch egg and other wondrous picnic food.

The 'winkers' are more DuranDuran than Wham, surely?

Knakard · 30/10/2009 08:33

I shall keep my lips sealed.

Slubberdegullion · 30/10/2009 08:44

Quite purple (re people never having cooked before). Surely people who have a semblance of cooking experience know that if you boil mutton it is likely to be a bit chewy. That is what they did right? I may have had the cushion firmly secured by that point.

They are all going to make great telly though.

Lots of potential for strife and twisted knicker syndrome. The pea sloanes, mr & mrs graaaavlax (he so has a stress ulcer already) the winkers, the army boys (there is going to be a giant red faced row there..mark my words).

I can hardly wait 'til next week.

Bettymum · 30/10/2009 10:33

The knife girls! OMG! Why on earth didn't they just take the knives from them when they were trying to cut the coconut open, instead of standing there making horrified faces but leaving them to get on with the business of chopping their hands off???
Thank goodness they went before they were stretchered off out of the kitchens...
The winkers! The sunglasses! I hate them already but they are so entertainingly smug and awful.
The ASDA smoked salmon - ROFL and ROFL some more!
I love it .

Jacaqueen · 30/10/2009 13:37

How on earth did they come up with that lot. I would love to see the ones who were rejected if that is the creme de la creme that got through to the telivised round.

Maybe nobody applied this year.

Bettymum · 30/10/2009 16:25

They said fairly near the beginning that thousands applied.

bluejeans · 30/10/2009 17:39

The producers are looking for the ones that wil make the best tv, not the most capable

lilibet · 31/10/2009 13:35

Just watched this, in fact had to watch a few bits several times just to make sure that my eyes weren't deceiving me.

The humiliation of having to have Raymond Blanc open your tin for you because you are incapapble??

I liked Pork Waterloo !

flashharriet · 03/11/2009 10:34

According to this week's TV guide, if you thought the opening episode was bad, wait til you see Thursday's...

bluejeans · 03/11/2009 18:31

Great - looking forward to it already. My Asda doesn't sell Graaaavaaad (loooong pause)laaaax either
