and it's so fun to watch someone so detached from reality having such a swell time.

And you'd have to down your drink every time she said she was passionate about something...

JackieNo · 14/05/2009 21:42

lol - even DH said 'She's passionate about everything, isn't she' .

Merrylegs · 14/05/2009 22:28

Was this the last one then?

I shall miss All-soppy and her Kirstie-world.

I liked the willow basket making and the mosaics - (snigger at Kirstie when the table arrived: 'Here's the table I made!' Um. No you didn't.)

But what has irked me through the whole series is how she has managed to infantalise every craft she does by blubbing at it, or clapping her hands in glee, or jumping up and down and squealing, while said crafty-person looks on with the kind of politely bemused but tolerant expression you reserve for the slightly cray-zee.

Why did she have to dumb it down so? These are talented and experienced people she was dealing with and they kind of all ended up running her errands.

She's pretty and her clothes are fab and somewhere in there was a decent programme, fighting against the froth, to get out.

PaulaYatesBiggestFan · 14/05/2009 22:31

merrylegs i know what you mean
some people are quite like that

i find my self saying things like 'ohh goody' or 'wow my hero' in the local hardware store....by the time i leave i have told them my life history and how many times i had sex last week as a sideline

i sometimes think people will wipe their brow when i leave ....

changednam · 15/05/2009 19:29

I'm sorry the show has finished because it was such a laugh.

We had a rule that you could only watch it if you spent the entire time taking the p* out of her - which really wasn't that difficult, but immensely entertaining.

I don't agree with all of you who liked her clothes though - I think she looked a mess.

A bit of decent grooming (what's with the hair?) and, dare I say, losing some weight, would do more than the fancy shoes.

Miaow...

Tinker · 15/05/2009 19:34

Her hair often looked like she'd been dyeing it herself over the (out of a skip) sink.

sazzerbear · 17/05/2009 19:49

The whole series was hilarious! The mosaic table looked tiny when she put it on display by the back door. It must be lovely being so far removed from reality not to have to think about the recession/house and food prices etc etc, I want to live in "Kirsty World"! Off to do some weaving

MrsSeanBean · 18/05/2009 08:49

Jules, thanks for the link, 'this is quite pretty, and in the sale

Am to hear the chiffon blouse was Chanel though... don't think I'd better go for that , although I guess it does sort of balance out the homemade angle. The luxury of wearing Chanel, or indeed any, chiffon to do pottery / other mucky craft activities!

TwoIfBySea · 18/05/2009 12:00

Cath Kidston had such a disappointing kitchen though, at the beginning of the series. I thought it would be more...welcoming...at least.

I think maybe Kirstie was trying to be the Nigella of the interiors world and in that she did succeed! I will miss this daft little series though.

sazzerbear · 19/05/2009 15:17

Dear Kirsty
I went past a skip today and saw a plastic hubcap and an empty quality street tin, what do you recommend I can do to make them into "shabby chic"?

knitgirl · 22/05/2009 10:34

Muppetgirl, am I detecting the green eyed monster here? Thought the programme was great.

How can you say the draught excluders was rubbish, it was amazing. That girl, Suzie Johnson I think her name is, is so talented.

I think you need a dose of knitting, you are obviously a little down if you are saying such negative things. That can be sorted out with a pair of 4mm and some cashmere.

I can strongly recommend knitting. It is the best hobby ever. If you ever need some tuition just let me know.

Take care for now.

Katisha · 22/05/2009 10:36
Hmm
izyboy · 22/05/2009 10:54

omg I think knitgirl has just outed herself- she is Kisty! Couldn't resist a visit!?

izyboy · 22/05/2009 10:54

Kirsty, even.

Maninadirndl · 22/05/2009 22:15

Well I am sad the show ended. I liked it. (Can I say that?) I'm the token MN bloke.

I did evening classes in stained glass and pottery and I own books on stencilling and mosaics. However not all was to my taste....

That wallpaper was simply shite in the bog. I kept telling The Wife you have to understand the technique not her taste.

Skip Diving. Ah as an expat in Germany I used to do well. Found fruit bowls and cafetieres in them in the past, even computers. Thank heaven for novelty obsessed Germans. I once found a whole vinyl collection of the Rolling Stones in Munich.

womma · 22/05/2009 23:19

The wallpaper was indeed shite, perfect for the toilet!
I liked the show too, it would be great to have some proper crafting programmes or a series on telly, maybe a bit less 'Kirstified' though.

izyboy · 23/05/2009 00:23

Yes, like what to do with driftwood.

slummybutyummy · 25/05/2009 21:22

Oh god, I loved it! I know, I know - it was ridiculous and on the biggest budget ever but I still loved it. I like the ever-so-slightly-barking Kirstie and want to do all those crafts. But classes are expensive so will just have to try and make a few of the easier things. Can't knit but might try sewing - any tips?

Qally · 11/06/2009 04:09

Why would anyone pay twice as much for her place as this one?

Hormonesnomore · 27/06/2009 21:26

I love Kirstie - she's clearly bonkers.

But, she always wears skirts & dresses, never
trousers. I'm suspicious of women who never wear trousers - 'tisn't normal imo.

Perfectgangofthree · 28/06/2009 10:56

Deidre Barlow never wears trousers.

Katisha · 28/06/2009 18:14

Wonder how Deirdre Barlow's HomeMade Home would look?

Hormonesnomore · 28/06/2009 19:39

Something like this?

Katisha · 28/06/2009 20:34

Can't see any stained glass. Or knitted door-stops. Or american quilts...

Hormonesnomore · 29/06/2009 19:39

No, but I think it would have one of these in it
