and it's so fun to watch someone so detached from reality having such a swell time.

oh dear kirstie's twittering does show she's quite mortified at some of the er feedback she's getting.

Tn0g · 24/04/2009 18:43

Klaze

his eyebrows make me laugh,

the way they rise and fall at the budget for the kitchen.

Oh dear, poor Kirstie...

expatinscotland · 24/04/2009 18:45

Oh, aye: klaze, flehr (floor), heid (head).

Ever heard a West Highlander say 'ea' as in 'learn'? LOL.

Even Tesco becomes, tes-COH.

Poor Kirstie, though.

I've met several like her and they're sound enough folks.

I don't find her mean-spirited or smug. She just is what she is.

Gunnerbean · 24/04/2009 18:46

Have you seen how filthy that Willy's finger nails are - absolutely minging. I wouldn;t fancy eating anything he's prepared with his filthy minging hands and cooked in his filthy minging Aga.

expatinscotland · 24/04/2009 18:47

I find Kevin poncey, though.

Sometimes he can be a right twat as wel.

Kirstie's just like watching a wean in a sweet shop.

OP posts:
expatinscotland · 24/04/2009 18:48

He looks minging, Gunner. And that cat's bum face. Ugggh. He's tiresome.

You watch him and think, 'Who cares, you wanker?'

OP posts:
ruddynorah · 24/04/2009 18:48

he sweats in all his food too..a lot. especially the food he just rustles up in venezuala for his farm hands...who must be seriously sick of his blardy cacow being added to all their food.

Tn0g · 24/04/2009 18:49

HE IS NOT PONCEY

He's...actually, yes, he is incredibly poncey and smug but I feel drawn to him for some inexplicable reason

maybe it's the crazy klaze.

Minging is such a great word isn't it?

ruty · 24/04/2009 18:51

It is always about how incredibly hard he works, how he never sees his family. Er, yes, so does the nation.

expatinscotland · 24/04/2009 18:52

oooo, rudy! now he's sounding dead klarty. i hadn't noticed. that's bowfin'.

kevin is too girly, TnOg, i don't know what you see in him with those girly shirts no real man would be caught dead in.

aside from his being a ponce.

OP posts:
Tn0g · 24/04/2009 18:54

Well, you see coming from the land of real men I'm obviously feeling the need for a bit of ponce and smug.

expatinscotland · 24/04/2009 18:57

Then he's your man, TnOg!

Oh, cool, the shinty's going to be on BBCAlba.

Sorry, end hijack .

Just watched this week's programme on More4. Every single craft she does she gets her teacher to finsh off her work! Hardly all her own work is it?

frecklyspeckly · 27/04/2009 22:36

She is doing the playroom Thursday. Should be entertaining!!

I would love to rent that house to see inside and mess about with the wow letters...

Flibbertyjibbet · 28/04/2009 09:32

We have a toilet like the one she put in that house from an architectural salvage yard years ago. £20. How much did she pay for hers I bet the decimal place was a couple of places along from mine

I miss phil. He should be on that show saying things like 'leaving it for the teacher to finish while you skip off to the next taaaahhhhhhsk then?'

I thought that loo wallpaper was, er, interesting. Dp said the black and yellow is unfortunate and looks like some drunks had a highest-weeing contest against the walls.

JackBauerkillspigs · 30/04/2009 20:07

Anyone watching this week? That room she was raving about would give me a headache in about 45 seconds.

littlelamb · 30/04/2009 20:08

Ah bollocks it I couldn't find this thread so I sarted a new one. Am looking forward to the fabrics guy. The fabric is the crack, I am it's whore

EffieGadsby · 01/05/2009 09:50

I watched a couple of minutes of this last night, as I was flicking through the channels and stopped because I saw she was knitting (I'm a knitter, and it's so rarely seen on telly). How much did she actually contribute to her draft excluder thing; about one row!? How is that making it herself?

This program just seems like one long infomercial for her holiday let. I imagine as the series ends there will be several well-placed interviews in papers and mags, letting the world know that we can rent her ridiculously expensive house. Doesn't Channel 4 have some kind of public service broadcasting remit? I don't see how paying Kirsty to provide several hours of prime time advertising for her house-letting business serves anyone.

Ooof! Am very peeved today.

ruty · 01/05/2009 10:04

It is all so bloody twee.

Merrylegs · 01/05/2009 10:25

Ah, I was searching for all the Kirstie girls in their Kirstie world. Thought I'd lost you.

SO - thought last night's was a bit dull TBH. (although I am a fan of Kaffe Fasset - not sure I could live in his house though. Far out man.)

I still think Kirsite is utterly bonkers and hugely watchable but her ineptitude for any craft task and her shrieks of delight when she manages to fashion said 'homemade' thing are getting a bit tiring tbh.

And what is that disclaimer 'If you want to have a go at any of these crafts, there are classess up and down the country."

Yeah, no shit sherlock. State the bleedin' obvious. It's called Adult Education.

Also I see from the Twitter link further down the thread that Kirstie is getting a tad upset with us being so 'horrid' to her.

Well lovely, if you're reading, I'd just like to say we are your target audience - (for we are the ones who will be distressing our curtains and renting your house and buying the bookoftheseries (for surely there will be a BOTS) and actually watching you make your pretty things, therefore indirectly ensuring your salary), and you would do well to heed us. mwah ha ha.

(I do still think she is awfully pretty though).

TheMadHouse · 01/05/2009 10:32

I loved the draft excluder, but couldnt knit to save my life.

I actually really like the progamme itreminds me so much of how my aunts house you to look like, although they really had no money and it was such a welcome place

EffieGadsby · 01/05/2009 11:04

The trouble with the draft excluder thing, was that it wouldn't actually exclude drafts... The bit in the middle with the sandcastle and two houses looked snugly together, but the fish at either end were attached to the houses by their lips, so a whacking great draft would get through the gaps under their fishy chins. It did look very sweet however, if not terribly practical.

I missed the Kaffe Fasset bit; I must go look it up on 4OD.

If Kirstie's upset that people are mean about her show, she can at least learn from it that you don't become popular by patronising your target audience.

Bettymum · 01/05/2009 15:34

I want to see the rest of Kaffe's house, those two rooms were wonderful. His house could have its own series. CHANNEL 4, ARE YOU LISTENING???
My sofa can proudly boast three of his wonderful tapestry cushions, made when I was unmarried and childless and had a lot more time on my hands than I do now .

muppetgirl · 01/05/2009 15:45

I watched it again, dh has to leave the house as he says it's so crap (he 'runs' during Kirstie time)

fed up with the re-cap each week

the lampshade was horrible (was it just me or did it really not suit the base?

Would have been more interetsed in seeing which fireplace she chose and why, how she placed furniture. We have a hideous sitting room and would have really loved to see how to pull a room together from a blank canvas rather than 'choose pictures that have similer colours...'

Laughed at the wreckers yard -has she never been to a charity shop before? People have been using them for years (I made 3 pairs of curtains out of 1 pair of Laura ashley curtains for my narrowboat when I lived on it so I'm better than KA as I actually did it all MYSELF!!! Also made the cushions for the sofa and the kingsized patchwork quilt for the bed. Am currently making all of ds 3's blankets and are finishing off an alphabet sampler for my Goddaughter)

Hated her draft excluder as it looked like a 5 year old had been let loose in a knitting shop and produce that.

The poker was okay but she just got far too excited for my liking, she nearly cried fgs!!! (She needs to get out more!)

I loved the idea of this programme, I really like Kirstie, I love making things and wanted to learn more about putting a room together but have been left feeling really patronised.
