and it's so fun to watch someone so detached from reality having such a swell time.

I still like this programme though

I'm sorry, I can't help it.

expatinscotland · 24/04/2009 17:51

Oh, I love it, TnOg, hence the thread .

I tell you what was a good idea, though it wasn't Kirsties, was the coffee table made from packing boxes with a throw ontop.

Ingenious.

Our first coffee table was made from old palletts and glass which was actually found in a skip.

It was awful.

ruty · 24/04/2009 18:01

without the flirtations with Phil Spencer I find her incredibly awkward on camera. And the whole programme verges dangerously on parody, like something out of Star Stories...

Tn0g · 24/04/2009 18:06

Yeah, she definitely needs Phil.

I need Phil.

expatinscotland · 24/04/2009 18:06

'Our first coffee table was made from old palletts and glass which was actually found in a skip.

Oh, did you ever have the bookshelves made from planks of wood and bricks?

That's the mark of a true prole, there .

He is the one Englishman I fancy. A lot.

Tn0g · 24/04/2009 18:09

Never did the bookshelf thing, but it's a great idea, Expat.

Ruty, me too.

BitOfFun · 24/04/2009 18:12

Right, I am back refreshed from a walk by the sea with my kids and the dog...it felt so wholesome and I just knew Kirsty would approve! I almost felt like picking up some interesting driftwood, until I remembered that the available surfaces in my house are already occupied by piles of laundry, but the thought was there! Perhaps my addled brain will feel better for it

Macdog · 24/04/2009 18:15

If you do a twitter search for Mumsnet, Kirstie pops up. here

Have you lot been horrible about her stained glass then??

BitOfFun · 24/04/2009 18:18

Noooo, we love it!

pointydog · 24/04/2009 18:20

I couldn't bear watching it last night. Then dh saw it and almost cried out in pain. He insisted on watching coast instead

pointydog · 24/04/2009 18:20

She has a head full of loose screws, that Kirstie

izyboy · 24/04/2009 18:25

I dunno I'm a bit torn by this prog. On one hand I do think it is a load of over privileged, patronising tosh. However, I do find myself watching it! Why? Am I sad or summat?

ruty · 24/04/2009 18:27

what is going on with channel 4 at the moment? They have all these totally pointless programmes made by bored rich people, like that chocolate programme, and then try to bring some drama into it 'Will rich bloke find the right cacao for his chocolate so he can carry on sending his children to Eton?' kind of thing. Off putting.

Tn0g · 24/04/2009 18:27

Noo not sad, Izzy, beguiled.

Beguiled by Kirsties ability to preform alchemy.

Or summit.

Tn0g · 24/04/2009 18:28

Sorry. Izy.

Tn0g · 24/04/2009 18:30

That chocolate fella had me foaming at the mouth.

I really, nearly punched the screen.

expatinscotland · 24/04/2009 18:30

That chocolate fella is dire.

He's so boring and earnest and fug and weirdy.

Kirstie's harmless enough, just never had to deal with much many of us consider reality.

OP posts:
expatinscotland · 24/04/2009 18:31

Snap, TnOg! I thought, 'If he runs his hand through that oily hair of his one more time, I'm going to go this screen and shave his head myself.'

Gawd, he's wanky.

OP posts:
BitOfFun · 24/04/2009 18:31

< snort > @ ruty's uncanny assessment!

The thing is, we know it's tosh, but it's so enjoyable, and how can anyone not like Kirsty, even of she can be a bit of a twit sometimes? She is like an über-MNer

izyboy · 24/04/2009 18:32

Oh that's ok then, 'beguiled' ! There must be some ironing or baking or knitting I should be getting on with instead tho' (Izy surprises DH with sudden, previously unknown domestic skills)

expatinscotland · 24/04/2009 18:34

I think the problem with Willy-chocolate-wanker is that he takes himself seriously and it's unbecoming.

OP posts:
Tn0g · 24/04/2009 18:36

Yes! that's exactly it, Expat.

One needs to be just a little tongue in cheek when doing this kind of programme.

Like yer man off Grand Designs...what's his name?...I like him.

expatinscotland · 24/04/2009 18:38

Ach, that would be that Kevin McSummat fella.

Those shirts he wears! Fucking hell! Where does he even find 'klaze' (as DH says) like that?

Much less wear them in public.
