What did you move onto once you had finished it?

We are loving it but are now on series 7 and wondering what will fill the void when we reach the end of this series?

OP posts:
Hassled · 17/04/2009 23:10

Oh yes I did hate Amy. She was just plain irritating. Santos should never have employed her at the end.

Bumperlicioso · 17/04/2009 23:17

Urgh, I couldn't stand Amy! She was so odd looking! And always seemed high. I liked Joey but she was way too smart for Josh!

Best shipper line of the series has to be when Donna tries to get a job on the Santos campaign and Josh has a go at her but then says 'If you think I don't think about you every day...'

I agree to with the post who says they cried when Josh went to get Sam back, awww, when he's up against the glass wall, bless.

Oh I love love love it I want to start again but DH is having none of it!

Northernlurker · 17/04/2009 23:23

102 messages and nobody has mentioned the total waste of space that was Mandy....

Personally

Josh, Sam, Danny - oh yes

Santos - - ok then if I'm pushed

Toby and Leo - not, don't think so.

Just remember - 'don't go for the genuises, they never want to sleep'

procrastinatingparent · 17/04/2009 23:34

CJCregg - we watched that very episode this evening!

I kept thinking Mandy was a transvestite. There was something very odd-looking about her - and no chemistry with Josh at all.

Bumperlicioso · 18/04/2009 08:37

Blimey, I had to google just to remind me who Mandy was. Yup, she was a weird character.

Oh, I'll tell you who I found pretty cute, republican guy, became the speaker perhaps? He was involved in the whole diary incident with Donna. I think CJ later gave him a job.

I loved Ainsley too, that speech about not needing a sexual discrimination act as as far as she knew she was considered equal under the consitution - fab!

jkklpu · 18/04/2009 08:54

Ainsley Hayes - truly superb. My dh and I only ever watched CSI Miami because she was in it doing the ballistics. Can never remember her character name in that as she will always be Ainsley.

What about Mallory McGarry and Sam? They were good for a while, too.

Saltire · 18/04/2009 09:03

What was the name of the character who did sign language. She was fab.

Hassled · 18/04/2009 09:07

That was Joey. She was great.

Saltire · 18/04/2009 09:10

That's it. Joey. She was a fantastic character.

Saltire · 18/04/2009 09:20

and her that played Sara misery guts in CSI was in teh West Wing as well wasn't she?

MrsY · 18/04/2009 17:57

Sara Siddle? Yup she was Zoe's secret servie agent. In the scene after the shooting at Rosslyn, the car ran over her foot, andso she went to her CSI audition with a broken foot!

I quite liked Amy "How do you like them apples?"! especially when she put Josh's phone in the stew!

Did I imagine it, or does Joey turn up pregnant?

Bumperlicioso - That was Cliff Calley - he was Republican Lead Council during the investigation of the MS thing, and then CJ employed him as her 'Josh'.

I also like Kate and Will, as a couple, they are cute without being sweet...

lilibet · 18/04/2009 18:23

I have read all this thread and I now have to watch it again. There has never been and never will be anything like it.

Toby shares a birthday with my dh and every year on Dec 23rd, I think of Toby giving his coat to the goodwill and Mrs Landingham saying "I miss my boys" and I weep.

And I can't watch Two Cathedrals without a box of tissues.

Wonderful, wonderful writing and acting.

Favourite man - Leo, I liked him and Jordan as a couple.

I put the entire series on my lovefilm rental list after reading this thread

jkklpu · 18/04/2009 22:49

My dh still doesn't know that I secretly watched the first episode of series 2 (post-Rosslyn shooting) to find out what happened. He was away for a couple of weeks and I just couldn't NOT crack open the Amazon parcel. In fact, I think I watched the first 2 and had to pretend to be watching first time around when he came back.

Bumperlicioso · 18/04/2009 22:51

Yup, Joey does turn up pg.

I wasn't so sure about the Will/Kate thing, it seemed a bit contrived, but then I couldn't decide if I really liked or really hated will.

Oh, so many good moments, I'm trying to think of my favourites...

I think I just loved the camaraderie between them all. It seemed that in the later series they all started to get on each other's nerves, and when they were all off on the separate campaigns it wasn't as fun.

jkklpu · 18/04/2009 23:05

I liked Will's sister a lot and that whole sequence with the intern speech-writers was v well-observed, I thought.

So many favourites. One of my faves of the Pres is when he's ill in bed early on and the staff are going in and out of his room all day, although he's not meant to be working. In the evening, he says he's been watching TV and is stunned by some Jerry-Springer like talk show with people throwing things and hurling insults. He says: "Do these people vote?" is such a sweet, ingenuous way and you just want to give him a hug after laughing out loud.

CJCregg · 21/04/2009 09:33

finished the whole thing (again) last night. I can't think what else to do except start again at the beginning.

Lovely moment when Josh, Donna and Sam walk back into the White House to kick off the Santos administration - they stop, look around and Sam says 'home, sweet home.' And Donna gets the biggest office she's ever seen ...

santapaws · 28/04/2009 13:06

We love watching it again and again!

The funniest bit i think is when Pres Bartlett has taken too much back pain medication and is confused when he comes into the oval office and hugs Toby.

That and when Josh (oh the lovely Josh) slept in his office after a night out and drinks the cold coffee and spits it out with out making any attempt to move - thats so funny.

xx

gio71 · 29/04/2009 08:48

ooh a west wing thread! How did I miss this! I am rewatching for the 3rd time at the moment, on season 2 and just watched Shadow of 2 Gunmen.
Josh-love of my life
Santos-mmmmmm, and love his relationship with his wife
Mandy-couldn't bear her-all the feisty shouting seemed forced-that scene at the beginning when she gets stopped for going through red light seemed really awkward -only character I thought didnt work. Felt bit sorry for her when CJ finds out about the memo she'd written-would have cried if CJ had looked at me like that
Had serious doubts about dp after 12 years when made him watch 2 episodes and he said "it's ok but nothing special" . How??? Makes me feel very when read about your WW mammoth sessions with DH's.

CJCregg · 29/04/2009 09:28

gio, make him watch some more - he probably wasn't feeling well that day.

My marriage broke up once we'd finished the West Wing. Maybe it's coincidence but I think watching it was one of the only things keeping us together

PolkSaladLucie · 29/04/2009 18:33

Gio - I think it's interesting that Santos and Helen's relationship seems to echo Jed and Abby's...

Plus it's lovely to see the kids in the White House (so many parralels with the new administration).

I love the bit when Helen Santos asks Donna to be her Chief of Staff, and then she sees the office - blimey, it is nice, but it wasn't the same one as Amy's when she was Abby's CoS, was it?

BTW - I'm MrsY ! I was torn between this name, and ElsieSnuffin!

pagwatch · 29/04/2009 18:39

I loved Mrs Laningham and Charlie Toby and Josh.
I liked the episode where Sam is trying to use celestial naviagtion.
And "hes strong on crime , he's tough on justice - he sings a song he wears a moustache"
And the shot of CJ when Big Bird sits next to her.
DH bought me the boxed set for christmas and I have just started the whole thing again.
I love it.

giveusabreak · 29/04/2009 18:46

Damn! should have tagged this thread so I could indulge my obsession interest.

I think Michelle O is a way more interesting (and yes, I do realise RL person) than H Santos who I found a bit ice queen (OK, just jealous because she got to snog Matt S, a lot.

I loathed Mandy and Amy too. Neither of them were plausible characters and Amy was far too interested in flirting with men to make a credible feminist.

I think that WW and a bottle of wine on a Friday night sounds fab. I have tried to get DH interested but am a bit torn as I won't be able to fully lust after Matt Santos pay attention to the political nuances if he is watching too

The2ndMrsSantosneeGissabreak · 29/04/2009 19:48

Hmm seems my threadkilling talents are coming to the fore once more.

At least I have finally come up with a new nickname to replace the awful Giveusabreak (what was I thinking) but it had to get a bit Boys from the Blackstuff to fit the character limit.
