it gets complicated if the surro mother is married, then her hubby has to go as father even though he's quite clearly not!
As long as the baby is genetically related to one or both of the intended parents, then you apply for a parental order under the human embryology act and do no need to adopt.

expatinscotland · 09/03/2009 21:31

i'm glad there're people out there who want to do this.

but have a baby and hand it over? have a baby who's not DH's?

nope. not for me.

glucose · 09/03/2009 21:32

so which mum is on the birth certificate in the case of the lady who has the embyro of the russian/british architects?

SlartyBartFast · 09/03/2009 21:33

nope, the woman carrying the surragate for the russian woman, i wouldnt like her attitude to my children's drawing!
however different cultures, different attitudes, and she is, thus far, childless ...

QOD · 09/03/2009 21:33

me either expat, i know 100% i couldnt do it , but i have a wonderful daughter from another mother, we are pretty unique lol

The American set up is very different, lots of money, bit of a cold set up, in the UK, surrogates chose the parents, its the reverse in USA

CHOCOLATEPEANUT · 09/03/2009 21:33

i could not do it but i am glad that people can

the desire for a child is very strong and i remember how i felt when i was childless.its so sad

OMG

Meglet · 09/03/2009 21:40

I haven't been paying attention. Did carol's husband father one of the babies?

OP posts:
giraffescantdancethetango · 09/03/2009 21:41

Yes, by mistake.

glucose · 09/03/2009 21:42

yes!
they had a DNA test and poor Carole had not been avoiding sex with Paul oops

Amanda is so nice

expatinscotland · 09/03/2009 21:42

To have a csection and then nothing to show for it isn't for me.

QOD · 09/03/2009 21:42

she isnt part of COTS anymore, nor is Jill. they have made a lot of families happy

OMG feeling so bad for this Amanda

SlartyBartFast · 09/03/2009 21:42

that's a difficult one isnt it that her actual husband fathered the baby!
but why did they even do the paternity test?

and i was wondering if they breasfed..

giraffescantdancethetango · 09/03/2009 21:46

glucose · 09/03/2009 21:46

CHOCOLATEPEANUT · 09/03/2009 21:47

poor amanda

i would not hand edward over to that barmy woman

Meglet · 09/03/2009 21:47

she didn't clunk the baby on the head when she put it in the car seat. that's a lot better than me .

OP posts:
QOD · 09/03/2009 21:47

not liking the russian, surely they should be looking after baby and her kids and Amanda should be laying on the sofa being fed grapes!

CHOCOLATEPEANUT · 09/03/2009 21:48

nooooooo dont let her take him!!

expatinscotland · 09/03/2009 21:49

I'm overweight now and my body is a bit of a wreck - had to give lots of blood to figure out if I'm diabetic, low thyroid, both, etc. - after this one. Two instrumental deliveries. One traumatic, too quick for drugs.

NO WAY I could part with them.

As they grow older, I can see me and DH in them.

How can she detach herself?

I don't know.

Amanda is going to BF him, too?

NO WAY. I feed them, they are MINE.

CHOCOLATEPEANUT · 09/03/2009 21:49

giraffescantdancethetango · 09/03/2009 21:49
