Anyone else excited about this starting up soon?

I'm guessing that The Oceanic 6 are going to go back to the island.

OP posts:

Hi everyone just popping on to say I loved last nights episode will be back later to read all the posts

PlumBumMum · 13/04/2009 15:00

Yes Ben shot Desmond but he was just wounded!

Think their son is just named after Charlie because in the first episode of all the time travel when Desmond went back to the pub Charlie was outside busking/singing in the street, plus Charlie has an older brother remember!
I just loved last nights episode though still not convinced on the true evil one Ben has killed lots of people, Charles is just as bad,
But WTF Charles aged and LOVELY Richard still has not aged, still think hes the silent boss and nobody knows!

Loved Alex scaring the shit out of Ben, and crafty frigger planning on killing Locke AGAIN!! When will he get the hint the island obviously dosen't ant Locke to die

Dozymare · 13/04/2009 16:28

There is obviously a link with the ancient egyptians....that statue, Richard LOOKS Egyptian (all that eyeliner) yet he never ages. Has anyone else ever noticed that? I think he is pivotal to the story. What does that statue represent in mythology????

Merrylegs · 13/04/2009 18:26

Can't believe Desmond was just wounded! Ben practically shot him at point blank range. Must have been some heavy duty cans in that grocery bag to take the force of the bullet!

I am so confused by Ben now - I think the writers have overdone the bad in him, and the lying - even when he was saying sorry to 'Alex', I just didn't believe him. He must have some redemptive quality, surely?

Loved this episode, but was a bit annoyed with the other plane crash survivors and the whole taking of the pilot hostage. I thought, actually, I can't be bothered to invest any time in you lot. Let me concentrate on the characters I do know about. It seems a bit late in the day to be adding a whole new strand of the story on, but am sure it will all tie up...somehow?

Am loving Richard as Egyptian idea - we must get some explanation for the eyeliner soon!

MintChocAddict · 13/04/2009 18:30

Another theory that I've read elsewhere - (not that I'm a complete saddo or anything)
Could Locke still be dead on the Island? The smoke monster could be manifesting itself as Locke so that he leads everyone the right way. Christian (dead) frequently appears and Eko's brother the African priest (also dead) appeared in an earlier series and then Alex (also dead) appeared to Ben. Is the Smoke monster able to show itself as dead people and force people to think about their past choices. Does Richard never age but simply appears when required because he is also dead?

Maybe.

PlumBumMum · 13/04/2009 20:15

But Richard was off the island too? He went to check on Baby Locke and went to get Juilette???????

iMum · 13/04/2009 20:34

Ok, having watched this episode one thing is playing on my mind and It really quite daft and irrelvant but Ive got stuck on it..... When Ben took Rousseau's baby (alex) how did they feed her? I know its daft but obviously she must have been breast fed so how did they get round that?

Now i know there are no answers to this, but did this occur to anyone else?

littlelamb · 13/04/2009 20:38

iMum, don't get started on that one. How the hell did they feed Aaron when they were running around the jungle/floating around in a lifeboat/having a jolly on Penny's boat??? I think Locke is still dead, and that the smoke monster can somehow take on their form. Like Christian. As to why they have to go back to the island dead, I don't know. And what is in that box that the woman is about to crack open???? I don't htink we've seen the last of that scene with Desmond and Penny though. Surely Desmond wouldn't just let Ben walk away after he'd shot him and was about to shoot his wife?

PlumBumMum · 13/04/2009 20:41

I'm with Merrylegs don't want too much time invested in the new people

PfftTheMagicDragon · 13/04/2009 20:53

Well we know the smoke monster can take forms. It appeared to Kate as a black horse, to Hugo as Dave the institute patient. It could be that John is dead and that this is the island's way of making Ben do what it wants to do.

As for the baby feeding stuff, how crazy! Aaron the never eating boy or what?

I think the epyptians come into play somehow. Raa (I think) was in that depiction that Ben was looking at and that greatly resembled the statue (less toes, man-skirt)

I think that they are being purposefully confusing with Ben. We have been told by many people that he always lies, do the opposite of whatever he says, never to trust him. Now we feel as the characters do, not ever knowing if he is telling the truth, or if he is sincere. I do believe he loved Alex but I didn't believe he felt guilt for her death in the episode. I'm not sure if that's down to his ambiguity or just poor storytelling.

iMum · 13/04/2009 21:09

It is annoying tho, as with Aaron too-I like the story to be (and dont laugh here) at least physically possible/plausible the feeding thing really bugs me-and clothes for the babies as they grow, where do they come from.

Dozymare · 13/04/2009 21:55

whoa, check this out, I am now sticking with my Egyptian theory

Although not sure what that was, but I did say I reckoned Richard was Egyptian (only coz of the eyeliner)

Anyone got any more to add to that????

MintChocAddict · 13/04/2009 23:34

Definitely yes to the egypt theory - however to turn it all on its head - how about the idea that the island and it's time travelling/location moving powers is even more ancient that acient egypt. Could the mythology of ancient egypt actually have originated on the island?
Saw this idea on another site. I'm not that imaginative.

Also Richard Alpert (RA)?

Merrylegs · 13/04/2009 23:38

The only thing I'm a bit about with this whole show is that I don't think the writers had a plan from the beginning - for example, Ben was only meant to be in 3 episodes, but apparantly they liked the actor so much they kept him in.

Same with Richard Alpert's character. He was going to guest star in one episode but again they liked him and decided to keep him in.

So what's the big plan? Are they chucking this Egypt thing in now because it's a big theme and can encompass and explain everything?

The only character I can make out who was planned from the start is Locke. SO we need to find his KEY perhaps?

Who could that be?

ooh. Spooky.... and still very confusing!

elfinblast · 14/04/2009 00:05

Just found this thread so I would like to really really really piss all the lost fans off say that I am going to Oahu in September and will be staying in the same hotel as some of the cast.

DH has never watched Lost so I said he should maybe watch an episode or 2 so he could see some of the scenery. He has watched the first series and half of the second since Thursday and is totally addicted, which is a) nice for me as he can share my obsession and b) terrible for me as I am up to season 5 so have to watch my mouth every time he mentions it!

I am more excited than I have ever been about anything ever.

giantkatestacks · 14/04/2009 08:50

I thought Richard Alpert was just named for the real person who was the sidekick of Timothy Leary...dont know that much about the relevance of that though...my dp was telling me all about it but I dozed off.

Dozymare · 14/04/2009 09:33

elfin just in case you just might bump into Sawyer (clean or diiiirrtttyy) please pass all my details onto my future husband (with apologies to current DH )

Dozymare · 14/04/2009 09:34

Ok don't get the meaning of the name Richard Alpert?? Is it an anagram or does it have meaning???

giantkatestacks · 14/04/2009 09:48

Well Richard Alpert was a real person - just as Jeremy Bentham was so I suppose its to point you in the direction of mysticism/hallucinogenics etc with Alpert.

Merrylegs · 14/04/2009 12:06

congratulations Sawyer

elfinblast · 14/04/2009 12:40
