Anyone else excited about this starting up soon?

I'm guessing that The Oceanic 6 are going to go back to the island.

Okay, so I've been talking about this mostly with my American friend who gets the episodes aired a few days before we did.

And I was wondering (she got excited when I mentioned this so I thought I'd post) but does anyone else think Jacob might be Aaron? All grown up and time jumping about? Just a thought but there was all that fuss about him - and Walt for that matter. And was Clare not told something about Aaron's future?

PlumBumMum · 18/05/2009 12:14

Claire was told to not let him be brought up by the others or something like that?

Forgot to say the reason I think it will end with the plane crashing again is because remember Locke had the dream about the drugs plane crashing, but really he was dreaming it because he seen it happening during the flashes (don't know just something else to get a nose bleed about)

Megglevache · 18/05/2009 14:10

I cried and cried when Juliette went down the mine shaft. Oh poor Sawyer.

I think Jacob is her (and Sawyers)baby and I don't think she ends up dying down there. I think there's more freaky time travelling stuff to come in season 6

I also think that the chap we see with jacob inthe fist scene is the smoke monster.

I am loving Lost again!

springlamb · 18/05/2009 14:27

I had a strong feeling at the beginning scene where Jacob and the other guy were talking that the whole of the last five years had been based on the age-old struggle of good vs evil (as in human nature, not religion or owt). Sort of 'let's assemble a gang of random people and see what happens...'

But two hours on I'm not sure who's good or who's evil - Jacob or Bloke in Black.

And I am worried about Rose and Bernard (et dog of course), why doesn't anyone want them in their gang? Poor loves.

nevergoogledragonbutter · 18/05/2009 14:31

they don't want to be in anyone's gang though.

they don't care as long as they have each other.

if they leave the island she might be ill again.

i thought they looked really content.

springlamb · 18/05/2009 14:40

Well, Bernard had obviously taught himself a few carpentry skills!

I agree, they are content, they don't want to be in anyone's gang. There must be other pockets of people living like this on the island, why aren't Jacob and Bloke in Black interested in them, I wonder. Does this support my theory a bit - Sawyer and Kate were baddies pre-Island, whereas Jack was a goodie, were they selected to see if they could be tempted to change.
Oh, I'm confusing myself now. All I'm certain of is that Sawyer didn't get nekkid, and there wasn't enough of Des in this series. He's my secret crush.

nevergoogledragonbutter · 18/05/2009 14:47

sawyer couldn't get nekkid this series as we'd all see how much weight he's put on since reaching the peak of his career.

unless it's those boiler suits they're all wearing. not flattering are they.

still love sawyer and sayid though. yum.

annaje · 18/05/2009 16:05

oooo - I like Desmond too springlamb - not as much as Jack of course.

kickassangel · 18/05/2009 16:45

hmm, my current theory, it's the island v the rest of the world. jacob & other man were the custodians. possible other man is the black smoke, but not sure.
throughout time, people have been coming to the island, but jacob's job is to protect the island. presumably, therefore, everyone he chose has a purpose there to continue the life of the island?
so jacob = good, other man = bad, trying to help people invade the island.

people who know what's in the shadow of the temple = jacob's followers (weren't they the people who warned miles not to go to the island after he was offered millions to go)

which makes all the others & dharma people unwitting accomplices to the other guy (don't think we saw jacob visit any of them, so not 'invited')

so, detonating the bomb may have negated the last 3 years, except that jacob's murder could add a little twist.

wondering if jacob allowed himself to be murdered, in a christ-like sacrifice (very biblical name), but also puzzling how all the egyptian stuff comes in. could the island represent the garden of eden, and the two men at the beginning be like cain & abel OR is it meant to be some 'lost' part of egypt (keep thinking about the statue), which needs to be proteected?

springlamb · 18/05/2009 17:52

What lies in the shadow of the statue.

Well the shadow is looking out to sea, could Atlantis be in its shadow.

[Springlamb hears a strange buzzing noise in her brain and thinks I can't keep this up till next January]

PlumBumMum · 18/05/2009 19:13

But I got the impression the man in the black didn't want the people from the ship (which must be the one that ends up at blackrock or what ever they called it the one with the dynamite?)

He said to Jacob you've brought them here, do you know how much I want to kill you right now?

springlamb · 18/05/2009 20:53

No, no, Plummy, according to Digital Spy and jezebel.com (very good recap on there), The Black Rock is the name of the ship which brought Richard to the island. So Richard really has been there a very long time.
If anyone thinks this thread is a bit mind-boggling, FGS don't try to follow the DS thread!

PlumBumMum · 18/05/2009 20:58

Yeap was that not the ship they were looking at, it was an old sailing ship, thought richard looked like the ship matey type

gallusbesom · 18/05/2009 22:02

I thought it was the Black Rock that they saw - was that not an old sailing ship?

Springlamb I know what you mean about DS thread my nose starts to bleed just thinking about following it!

PlumBumMum · 18/05/2009 22:05

Sorry gallusbesom thats what I mean't I thought the old ship they saw was the Black Rock

StripeyKnickersSpottySocks · 19/05/2009 10:32

Maybe Richard has always been the leader and just let Ben and now Locke think they are the leaders. As the leader he could have some sort of special power given to him so he doesn't age.

Also, when did that statue appear? It was there when Jacob and the other man were watching the old ship (Black Rock?), and was still there when Locke and Sun were there in present time. So how come nobody noticed it at the time of the Dhama iniative or when Flight 815 first crashed?

OP posts:
PlumBumMum · 19/05/2009 10:36

It did appear a few seasons ago, remember when Sayid Jin and Sun sailed the boat round to rescueJack etc, when Jack etc were originally taken, that was the first time we saw the foot

Stripey I've always thought that about Richard, I liked the way they called him the advisor though

StripeyKnickersSpottySocks · 19/05/2009 10:49

I've seen every episode and have no memory of that (I do have a bad memory though). I think there are probably a lot of things I've forgotten from previous series that are very relevent. Its probably why I have hardly any idea what to make of whats going on. I fully expect that after the last ever episode someone on here is going to have to explain to me what it was all about.

OP posts:
Ceebee74 · 19/05/2009 14:02

I am glad of this thread to explain things to me as I get very confused when I am watching it!

Loved the episode and thought the scene between Sawyer and Jack was quite touching in a way (before they started throwing punches )

Can't wait to see what has happened after the flash - I am doubting everything will be as if the crash never happened - can't really make a series out of that can they?

When the bloke who is Locke but not Locke (iyswim) said 'do you know how much I have been through to get here?' to Jacob, do you think he meant he arranged absolutely everything that has happened so far, including the plane crash, just so he could become Locke?

StripeyKnickersSpottySocks · 19/05/2009 14:39

Maybe the bomb hasn't gone off. Maybe the flash was another time travel jump, or even just a "end of the series, screen goes white" moment.

OP posts:
springlamb · 19/05/2009 19:54

Yes Richard does have a 'piratey' look about him. But did they have kohl back in those days. I have read that the producers say that Richard's eye look is natural but really, can it be.
The statue appeared during one of the rapid time jumps - was it the same one that took them back to before the well was there? Clearly it's been there a very long time, pre Jacob and BiB if their attire is anything to go by.
Must try to forget Lost for the rest of the year.

StripeyKnickersSpottySocks · 19/05/2009 22:39

Yes, I will have forgotten everything by the time Season 6 starts.

OP posts:
kickassangel · 20/05/2009 03:58

the foot of the statue is there in modern times, but the whole statue only in very old times. i'm guessing it's another egyptian reference - not only is the statue egyptian looking, but it remind me of the poem ozymandias, about the remains of a statue found in the dessert, with an inscriptian. the statue in the poem is meant to be rameses II (he of moses fame), who was meant to be immortal. (i think, 'twas a long time ago i studied it)

springlamb · 20/05/2009 11:33

My sources tell me the statue is of Sobek (dunno much about him) or Tawaret (summat to do with pregnancy or childbirth). Either way, it has a weird crocodilian face don't it.

Tawaret might be a goer, bearing in mind the baby problems on the island?

[We HAVE to stop this and reconvene, say, on New Year's Day 2010 to look forward to the new series 'Lets all meet up in year twenty ten, won't it be great when Lost is coming back...']

kickassangel · 21/05/2009 02:31

ok, but in the US lost starts much earlier as it has loads of breaks mid season. do you want me to let you know what's happening?

it was going in nov 2008 (i think) for season 5.
