Here we go...

OP posts:
squeaver · 19/11/2008 13:03

Honestly, I find it hard to believe that he was pushed. I suspect it's more to do with him not believing he ever got this far.

thenewme · 19/11/2008 13:05

Of course he was pushed. All he ever hears is complaints from the judges about how better dancers are being kicked off to keep him in.

ceebee74 · 19/11/2008 13:07

I really really hope they give Kristina someone good next year - imagine what she could do with an Austin or a Tom??

ObamasPinkPussyCat · 19/11/2008 13:33

Really shocked and sad to hear this! Makes me not want to bother watching anymore.

He was definitely pushed. Two fingers to the judges.

compo · 19/11/2008 13:42

they should give everyone who voted for him their money back

TALLULAHBELLE · 19/11/2008 13:51

Thought was time for JS to go but not like this. Is he feels he had to pull out, surely it's supposed to be a bit of fun.

TheOtherMaryPoppinsFleckles · 19/11/2008 13:53

JS's ego knows no bounds does it??? How self inflated an opinion of himself must he have! To resign becuase he thought he might win!! In your dreams!!

Very glad he has gone, I can stop cringing into my chushion now! And no fear of puking a little in my mouth at the prospect of watching him Rhumba ew!

It would have been the more gentlemanly thing to have done it saturday though to save Cherie from going a week too soon.

TheOtherMaryPoppinsFleckles · 19/11/2008 13:54

No he wasn't pushed what a load of rot!

The judges had awful things to say about Chris Parker, Kate Garraway and Fiona Phillips amongst others and they didn't walk did they??

ruty · 19/11/2008 13:57

I am furious that John has been pushed, and wished he had held his ground. I lloved the chemistry he had with Christina, they were always watchable. How dare James sick his oar in, and Cherie, it was totally out of line. What about Julian Clary? He got to the final. And John and Christina are far more interesting.

ObamasPinkPussyCat · 19/11/2008 14:02

MaryPoppins I think JS's comment about being in danger of winning was said with his tongue firmly in his cheek.

I do hope SCD isn't going to become the preserve of sleb luvvies who take themselves way too seriously.

thenewme · 19/11/2008 14:02

He was pushed. How would you feel if people were complaining about you still being there? Just because others didn't leave when criticised doesn't mean JS wasn't made to feel he had to go. He has lasted longer than them too, and he knows full well if he did win it would be for entertainment and not because he is a fantastic dancer. It isn't about having an inflated opinion of himself!

TheOtherMaryPoppinsFleckles · 19/11/2008 14:03

Have you seen his various interviews? This is a man who knows exactly how to play the media - and is doing so very well!

Nagapie · 19/11/2008 14:04

The cynic in me thinks that the reasons given just don't add up - do you seriously believe that JS has bowed to the pressure of a few unemployable judges of a dance competition???

Nothing like a little controversy to boost the ego and career ...

ObamasPinkPussyCat · 19/11/2008 14:07

Surely at 64 years of age having had a very successful career he doesn't need to be manipulating the media/boosting his ego? Seems unlikely.

CrushaGrape · 19/11/2008 14:09

I'm disappointed about John leaving, purely on principle, as I didn't personally support him (go Jodie!) and have never voted for any of them. People have spent money voting to keep him in; for him to 'retire' from the competition is unfair on those who paid to support him last week.

Ideally, the producers should have had a word with the judges about voicing their opinion after each dance is performed, but then just bloody shutting up about it until the following week. Phillips et al are on any damn program that'll have them, saying the same old thing about the likes of John S again and again. They need to get a hold of themselves and realize that SCD isn't really that important.

It's all a bit of a shambles.

squeaver · 19/11/2008 14:09

Yes, we're not talking about some 19 year old girl from a soap opera being bullied by the big bad judges.

He's more than capable of standing up for himself and he's a journalist ffs, if there was any untoward pressure being exerted, he'd being blowing the story.

He's giving himself plenty time to write up the story for one of the Sundays and make plenty of better-paying-than-SCD TV appearances between now and Christmas.

thenewme · 19/11/2008 14:10

JS will be on the BBC news channel around 2.30pm.

compo · 19/11/2008 14:11

poor Kristina, she must be gutted after all her hard work
hope they give her someone fabulous next year

Countingthegreyhairs · 19/11/2008 14:12

I think it's more about the producers capitalising on the controvery and getting lots of press coverage rather than John massaging his ego! What crime has he committed? He's just stuck to the rules ...

ObamasPinkPussyCat · 19/11/2008 14:13

Bah! I am so in a huff!

RTKangaMummy · 19/11/2008 14:15

.

WAT CH ITT HOUR LONG SPECIAL ON BBC2 @ 6 pm TONIGHT

* *

.

Countingthegreyhairs · 19/11/2008 14:16

lol Obama

As outraged as I am, can't quite believe this story is making national headlines

Nagapie · 19/11/2008 14:17

By all accounts he stuck to the rules - so did the producers, the judges, the other contestants, the voting public...

John jumped ... but I don't think for a minute it was because of the judges comments or other's voiced opinions ...

ObamasPinkPussyCat · 19/11/2008 14:17

Hehe

squeaver · 19/11/2008 14:18

Oh an hour long special! I hope Claudia's got an extra nice frock on.
