Here we go...

OP posts:

ooh yes - it's utterly down to Kristina. She's clever with her choreography and seems quite gracious and makes Joh n look as good as he possibly can.

Yes - Kristina and Brian can stay. Ola should divorce James and "marry" Matthew.

Countingthegreyhairs · 19/11/2008 01:23

harpo - I misread your post as 'jaws' around Austin

I do like Brian but I find the way his lower body moves completely independently from his upper half quite disturbing

Countingthegreyhairs · 19/11/2008 01:35

oops I think that should have read independently 'of'

I must go to bed instead of Mumsnetting working

carrotsandpeasifyouplease · 19/11/2008 08:06

oh lunamoon i am in complete agreement about Erin for no rational reason, lol the claws so true. She looks like a frump in training then wow in the show she does have a fantastic body though.
Brian and John Barrowman my two official american crushes.

mm22bys · 19/11/2008 11:53

OMG - he's pulled out! They are going to do a fare-well dance on Saturday...

mm22bys · 19/11/2008 11:54

here

fionaann · 19/11/2008 12:00

Has he jumped or was he pushed? Leaves a nasty feeling. I did not want him to win but didn't want things to end like this.

ceebee74 · 19/11/2008 12:00

OMg I can't believe it - I really hope he hasn't given in to the pressure of the media etc. Hopefully he has just had enough and feels like it is his 'time'??

Re Erin - DH is convinced she has had a boob job since the last series and has decided he quite fancies her with her newly lightened hair and new boobs

I also heart Kristina and Brian - fab additions to this year's competition

Must not miss ITT tonight then! I hope it is an evening DS decides he doesn't want to watch ITNG - you can never tell which mood he is going to be in

mm22bys · 19/11/2008 12:02

Me neither, TBH. The show should have been allowed to run its course. But when you have radio shows publicising his phone number so people who have no interest in the show vote for him to p*ss off the judges, what else could he do?

tortoiseshellWasMusicaYearsAgo · 19/11/2008 12:03

That will stuff up their scheduling - either they can't do an elimination on 'Sunday' (and will therefore have no phone in, which will cost them loads in revenue or 2 couples will go, which will mean they are an episode short. Or perhaps they will only have 2 couples in the final.

mm22bys · 19/11/2008 12:05

We'll be away for the final, so I hope they do finish a week early!

(Of course they wouldn't do that though...wishful thinking on my part!)

fionaann · 19/11/2008 12:05

I think this smacks of a Soviet style management of the audience and makes me feel less inclined to watch the programme - certainly not with the same fervour as before. I think he was pushed - he was definitely not in the mood for leaving of his own accord on Monday's ITT. Just makes a mockery of the whole show. And when you read things like this www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/celebritynews/3478541/Strictly-Come-Dancing-is-a-soap-ope ra-thanks-to-John-Sergeant-says-Cherie-Lunghi.html just makes you wish that James and Cherie had left even earlier.

mm22bys · 19/11/2008 12:10

Sore loser, I never did really go for her.

They all, including JS, train incredibly hard (despite the footage of him repeatedly reading the paper). It annoys when they go on about how hard they're training, as if it's unusual. Surely they all are?

Tigerschick · 19/11/2008 12:11

Wow! I'm really disappointed that he's decided to pull out. I thought he was great on ITT on Monday and I think that the competition should have been allowed to run its course - but I guess he has a point, that it would not be right for him to win ... sad that it came to this and it does leave a sour taste ...

I guess there will only be 2 people in the final ... again! They've only managed to get 3 people to the final twice I think - in serise 2 and 3.

RTKangaMummy · 19/11/2008 12:13

I think it is horrible that he has been forced to leave

It is bullying imho

I think they shouldn't get older less athletic preople in the prog if they don't want them to be liked by the public

They just wanted him to be there for a couple of weeks for everyone to laugh at and it backfired on them imho

fionaann · 19/11/2008 12:13

I didn't James complaining when Kenny stayed longer than he should have done last year when dancing with Ola. Rank hypocrisy and they are trying to ruin the show.

Tigerschick · 19/11/2008 12:16

It's things like this:

"Meanwhile, a survey of 3,000 viewers found that 53 per cent of those who backed Sergeant on Sunday did so to rile the judges."

at the end of that Telegraph article that has made the show a bit odd this year IMHO.

fionaann · 19/11/2008 12:18

But isn't that the fault of the judges and professional dancers? If they weren't so nasty to him he would have been voted off weeks ago. Surely the judges should have learnt this by now??

tortoiseshellWasMusicaYearsAgo · 19/11/2008 12:21

If it is purely a dance contest then they should audition the celebrities prior to coming on the show. The reason they invite people like JS is NOT for their dancing. If the GP then start voting for them, that is a risk they have to take.

fionaann · 19/11/2008 12:25

Why don't they just get rid of anyone over the age of 35 or get rid of the celebs altogether and go back to Come Dancing to be shown at 8pm on BBC2?

Boyswillbeboys · 19/11/2008 12:27

I think its awful that John feels forced to pull out. Cherie and James are being really bad losers, I really don't think they would have made it to the final, so they should have bowed out gracefully.

Tigerschick · 19/11/2008 12:36

To be fair to C+J, when they were on ITT on Monday, they did say that they had no gripe with them being voted out - they accepted that they were 3rd from bottom and messed up in the dance-off. The reason they said what they did was to 'protect' the good dancers still in the competition...

I am not a particularly cynical person so I'd like to believe them.
I'd also like to think that JS chose to pull out rather than being pushed... tho I kow it could be argued that he was pushed even if no -one actually said to him "look, John, we'd like you to pull out" (TBH, I think if that did happen, he'd have said so.)

It will be interesting to see if this affects next year's serise - or if there will even be one next year ...

fionaann · 19/11/2008 12:41

It would be nice to think that James was just protecting the other dancers but his general demeanour and other comments would I think suggest that this was just a more political thing for him to say. And when he and Cherie were saved after her dreadful Latin dances he wouldn't have wished that a better couple had stayed.

John's reaction on Monday's ITT didn't show any sign of an intention to pull out so I think he was pushed. It will be interesting to see the atmosphere on Saturday and all the fake smiles he'll get from the others. I wonder how Kristina feels?

frazzledoldbag34 · 19/11/2008 12:51

Am gutted John has gone. Such a shame. I wasn't voting for him (I'm a 'Jodie Girl') but I think he should have been allowed to stay if that's what the public wanted.
I do think he'd probably be voted off this Saturday night anyway.
I'll miss him .

thenewme · 19/11/2008 13:00

I am very cross that he has been made to feel so unwelcome. He has learnt a bit and entertained a lot and I will miss him.

Boo hiss to the judges.
