Here we go...

OP posts:
MrsTweedy · 18/11/2008 10:11

Jodie does seem nice but she has made a huge amount of progress (I'm using that instead of the dreaded 'J' word). I think it's just the way of this type of show that inevitably people will vote for personality as much, if not more, than dancing.

squeaver · 18/11/2008 14:10

Just watched last night's ITT.

James just comes across as chippy and, by the way James, it's "did" not "done" when you say "we done the paso".

Ooh Claudia said "bully".

Brian and Craig are going to start bitch-slapping each other soon. Let's have that on the Sunday show. Would rather watch that than Tom Jones.

And good for John for being intelligent, articulate and persuasive. It just makes the rest of them look a bit shallow.

And, like Brian, I LOVE Claudia's pants!

moosmummy · 18/11/2008 14:13

Did anyone else think that Claudia was magnificent (i know, big word!) on ITT with James last night, she didn't let him get away with anything? She was just what the debate needed and i thought that Cherie looked a bit uncomfortable when James was spouting off.

Everyone is getting a bit too excited, as someone said earlier - Kenny was in beyond this point last year too and in earlier series worse dancers have stayed longer. These celebrities aren't real dancers, the public have been given a vote and it's up to us what we do with it.

Personally i'm a Christine/Jodie fan because they have shown the most improvement and they seem like nice people that can have a laugh at themselves. They probably aren't the best dancers either but i'll still vote for them. Is that wrong, should i have voted for Austin or Rachel last week becasue they got the highest scores??

I love that its creating a bit of drama though - roll on saturday!!

moosmummy · 18/11/2008 14:14

Cross posted you squeaver - the 'done' thing got on my nerves too!

squeaver · 18/11/2008 14:17

Yes moos Claudia was brill.

I also thought Lisa and Brendan saying "there's a place for John Sergeant in this competition" was interesting. Possibly a tactical audience-pleasing move on their part? I wonder if the other pros think like James or like Brian?

One thing's for sure, I'm thinking about this WAAAAAAYYY too much.

frazzledoldbag34 · 18/11/2008 14:52

I love Jodie.
And can't bear Lisa. And, (according to my friends DH?!) she and Brendan are sha**ing. (Although how he knows this is beyond me - he's a bank manager!). Mind you from the way she had her legs wrapped round him after her dance-off I wouldn't be surprised.
I really hope Jodie keeps on improving at her current rate - I'd love to see her in the final. She is just lovely and so is Ian. I do suspect it may come down to Austin and Rachel though.
(I wonder how long Rachel and fiance will last........he didn't look very happy after her rumba did he?) - poor man.
Am disappointed in Cherie - after such a good start she just lost it. And James is gutted not to be the 'WINNER' this time. Boo

Annthecat · 18/11/2008 15:07

I would like to see a Jodie and John final, with Jodie winning.

That would show the judges what the programme is really about for the public.

cyteen · 18/11/2008 16:02

on the subject of rachel's rumba, i must just share my DP's thoughts - i was watching her on saturday when he came into the room, glanced at the tv and was suddenly mesmerised. He stood there for about 10 minutes, absolutely fascinated, saying things like "that's Rachel Stevens! But you can see her nipples! Look, she's practically naked! Rachel S Club! This is brilliant!"

He also likes Lisa After the results show on Sunday he grandly decreed that he would continue watching for another week

chutneymary · 18/11/2008 16:11

Annthecat, you are spot on with your view of the JS debacle. John to win (or at least, to be allowed to stay as long as he gets the votes )

Arlene was bonkers saying all the blah about the competition and then saying he should not retire from it. WTF? I would be pretty pissed off if I had voted for him to stay and then he decided to leave for the good of the competition.

It is Sat night family TV, not BBC3. I think the judges are in danger of disappearing up their communal arses. All that guff from Len about thinking how he feels sending a good dancer home. Think of your HUGE paycheck Len, and I'm sure it won't seem quite so bad.

ladyworsley · 18/11/2008 16:23

I feel sorry for John, but he seems to be bearing up.
Ola must be really fed up with James because he is losing "market appeal" for them with his moaning, never mind his grammar.
People vote for all sorts of non dance reasons such as region loyalty. The most likely person to win is Christine because the whole of Northern Ireland will vote for her.

FuriousGeorge · 18/11/2008 17:38

Thank you Saker.I'll CAT you this evening.

fionaann · 18/11/2008 18:24

Time for a bit of a rant re. John S - what?s all the fuss? If it?s a dance competition why have people like John on the show at all? Why have anyone over 35 who hasn?t had dance experience? As John S said on ITT ? he?s on because if it was purely a dance comp then the viewing figures would be nowhere near what they are. Let the judges judge and the audience vote as they wish. If the judges stopped going on about John and his popularity ? on Saturday and on ITT - he would be voted off next week. It?s not John?s fault that he?s still in the comp and for the judges and professional dancers to go on about it as they do amounts to bullying. How must John feel? As Claudia asked Arlene, does she want him to drop out of the comp? She said no but persists in saying that it?s a travesty that he?s there. No, IT?S THE WAY THE COMP WORKS. And for Arlene to suggest that he?s reading the paper all the time ? you don?t lose 2 stone by doing that. Thought Claudia did very well in putting the other side re. John. His timing is good and he is far from being the worst dancer ever on Strictly. Strange that Kristina wasn?t on with him. I also wish Bruce would stop making comments about John?s age and ability ? can Bruce remember being 64 or is it too long ago?

As for Len going on about how he feels bad when having the casting vote as head judge ? if he?s not happy with that position maybe they should make one of the others head judge because THAT?S THE WAY IT WORKS.

And for James to say it?s a dance comp ? he was mighty relieved when he and Cherie stayed in after her dreadful Latin dances. Utter hypocrisy and childishness ? shame as I thought James was changing - and he looks so much better with his new haircut. I won?t miss his poor English. I?m sure the only reason Ola can put up with him is because English isn?t her mother tongue.

There ? thanks, I feel better now.

Countingthegreyhairs · 18/11/2008 18:32

I wish all these young googly-eyed celebrity-flibberjibbets-whoever-they-are would refrain from throwing their arms around their professional partners, breathing up their nostrils, and generally slobbering all over them when NOT on the dance floor. Have they no dignity or self-respect?

Let's have some propriety please!

Disgusted of Tunbridge Wells

Countingthegreyhairs · 18/11/2008 18:32

Go John!

harpomarx · 18/11/2008 18:38

disgusted of Tunbridge Wells Countingthegreyhairs.... true, but what's really off is the way that Erin clamps her claws around Austin. I find that disturbing!

cocolepew · 18/11/2008 19:44

Oh a romance! I thought he was gay

MARGOsBeenPlayingWithMyNooNoo · 18/11/2008 19:49

oo-er! It's always good to find out there's something going on backstage!

SlubberOverTheYardArm · 18/11/2008 19:55

goodness me I can't cope with inter-couple relationships at all. No if Lisa is going to snog anyone it has to be Brendon, or all their luvvy, eyes-locked-with white-hot-passion during the dance is just fake.

I need to believe they are all falling for each other.

Clayhead · 18/11/2008 20:18

Despite what any of the judges say, this type of JS thing is fantastic for SCD as it gets them acres of publicity; it was on the front page of a couple of newspapers today, radio coverage and discussed on TV. It gets people talking about SCD like nothing else.

champagnesupernova · 18/11/2008 22:02

Does anyone else find Brian like a baby John Barrowman?

MARGOsBeenPlayingWithMyNooNoo · 18/11/2008 22:29

yes. lol

SlubberOverTheYardArm · 18/11/2008 22:33

My goodness my feelings for Brian have gone up to a whole other level after watching him on ITT. He is so kind and clever and not afraid of Craig.

His everso slightly undersized head means he still has not knocked Daniel Craig walking out of the sea in those swimming trunks off the top spot of men who I fancy quite a lot.

lunamoon2 · 18/11/2008 22:41

Yes Champs- I agree.

I LOVE BRIAN. I really hope he is in next years comp.
He has taken over as my fave professional dancer from Ian and Matthew.
I think it is about the professional dancers too and perhaps people like Kristina and they vote to keep her in as well as John.
I think John will stay in for at least another week.
Sorry but for reasons I can't explain I just don't want Erin to win!! So I definately won't vote for Austin. I know this doesn't make sense but she has been in the final before when Zoe Ball should have won with Ian and I just can't forgive her.
btw does anyone else think Kristine's hair is getting whiter by the week? Just a thought.

ambercat · 18/11/2008 22:51

yes and talking about hair, why does Erin's look like a brillo pad on top when they are rehearsing???
