Thus proving it's a good song. Did you also like Love don't roam?

RustyBear · 18/09/2008 17:03

Yes, but not as much as Song for Ten.
The version of Sf10 on the CD is longer - it's apparently had bits added about Rose leaving that weren't in the original (need to rewatch the Sycorax episode)

scaryteacher · 18/09/2008 18:30

No they weren't in the original - he's added the linking bit about have a good life, and then the last verse about our time will never come again, which makes me a bit sad. I just love the song.

serenity · 22/09/2008 17:09

SciFiFan - just in case you doubted it, Ep 1 was absolutely amazing

serenity · 03/10/2008 20:39

This has got very quiet hasn't it?

Random warblings from Davies about Tennant if any one's interested...

here

Complete Series 4 DVD set is due in November...
And the music CD.

tinyurl.com/3lbsbr DT in LLL
'Witty and wry' David Tennant lords it on stage in doublet and hose in his second Shakespearean turn

DH bought me Doctor Who - the Writer's Tale for my birthday last week, and I'm thoroughly enjoying it - done as a series of emails between RTD and Ben Cook, you can really hear RTD's voice as you read it. It's funny, serious, loads of insight into the process, and how the ideas for things get formed. Thoroughly recommended. Put it on your Christmas list now.

UnquietDad · 12/10/2008 11:38

Did anyone see that sketch show on CBBC yesterday? No idea what it was called - DD & DS were watching it and I came in in the middle. A couple of amusing Doctor Who skits, including one where they land in a Ladies' loo and another where a spookily accurate Tiiiim Weeeeestwooood "Pimps the TARDIS"!

The rest of the show was pretty funny too, especially the Raven At Breakfast sketch, the Blue Peter one and the Newsround items.

ReallyReally · 19/10/2008 14:12

we went to see the live show of Moths Ate My Doctor Who Scarf last night at the theatre

was v funny; UQD you might have liked it, lots of references to classic Dr Who episodes

also Tennant did a bit of voice for it so that would have set some of the rest of you off

RustyBear · 29/10/2008 21:35

Aaagh - it's official - he's going....

scaryteacher · 29/10/2008 22:00

I just saw it on the NTA...I can't believe it...looks as though the beeb can pay for Russell Brand and the other wanker Ross; but not for DT.

I guess as he's announced it there's no going back. DS tells me that life moves on, but I really wanted him to do series 5 as well.

Philip Glenister perhaps - a brooding and rough Dr?

Fire up the Tardis doesn't have quite the same ring as 'fire up the Quattro' though. I don't think John Sim can do it having been the Master. Richard Armitage would perhaps be good, or maybe Laurence Fox, that would be interesting. Paul Bettany would be good as well. I think they might go tall, blond and glacial, so Mr Fox would fit the bill, and of course his missus could give him tips.

serenity · 30/10/2008 01:11

My sister text me at work to tell me

S'not fair, I really liked Tennant's Doctor

Oh well, I'm sure it'll be fine - just as long as they don't bugger up the casting.

TwoFoggy · 30/10/2008 08:21
Sad
SciFiFan · 30/10/2008 12:00

Am gutted about this announcement but am also getting wound up with some of the names being put forward, particularly on Five Live!! Why oh why do some people just come out with lists of comedians - so far today I've heard Dawn French, Tony Robinson, Rowan Atkinson, Eddie Izzard, Russell Brand....to name but a few.

I prefer scaryteacher's suggestions proper sexy actors.

scaryteacher · 30/10/2008 15:11

I also thought Damian Lewis - steely eyed but sooo sexy.

JODIEhadababy · 30/10/2008 15:25

Sorry for crashing in on this thread, but where else can I feel sorry for myslef with this news?

I'm really too, but I keep telling myself I felt this way when CE left too... I'm sure he next Doctor will be very good, if not better (dare I say!)

But who though???

Also question for you Die Hard fans.. Who's the side kick? Is Martha coming back?

SciFiFan · 30/10/2008 16:13

All I've heard is there is no set companion for the specials - it'll be someone knew each time (according to RTD in a recent five live interview). David Morrisey is playing 'The Next Doctor' at Christmas (again according to RTD) he quickly produces a sonic screwdriver and says he is the Doctor.

Don't know whether that means he actually is or whether the plot uncovers him as something different IYSWIM.

RustyBear · 30/10/2008 16:23

I'm currently reading Russell Davies' book The Writer's Tale, and if one thing emerges from that it's how last-minute a lot of the writing is and how much it changes during the process- so I'd guess that even RTD doesn't necessarily know yet who the companion(s) are for the later specials - or even if there will be one.

PersephoneSnape · 30/10/2008 16:33

i knew this day would come, but i wasn't really prepared.

'is a writers tale' good rusty? dd has got it for me for xmas

RustyBear · 30/10/2008 16:42

Well, I'm finding it fascinating, but I'd better not say any more, had I? Don't want to spoil the surprise!

(Actually I'm being very naughty - I've bought it for DD for Christmas, but I'm having a sneak preview.....)
