Yes I thought this. You wouldn’t want to get on the wrong side of her; I find her intimidating .

Edited

I think there is a cultural component here - I am related to many formidable Irish women.

BestIsWest · 26/10/2026 12:31

I found the same @Calliopespa, the bit afterwards when Miranda and Sharon were talking and Sharon came into the room felt very awkward too. I’m sure she is lovely and funny in real life.

montysmaw · 26/10/2026 13:24

Bit ironic to slag off Michael for sexism and then judge Joanna to come out swinging to fight her corner.

She’s just Irish (& hence direct) - nothing intimidating about her.

I find her intimidating

It has nothing to do with her being Irish.

Think about what you find intimidating though as it’ll be inherent in her being Irish.

Sweetpeasaremadeforbees · 26/10/2026 13:47

My favourite now that Miranda and Joe have gone is Romesh. He's made the odd comment that shows that he is on the right lines with the traitors unlike Michael, James B and Joanne who appear to not have a clue but are keen to accuse anyone loudly for the flimsliest of reasons. He seems to be keeping quiet for now, maybe he's going to give his thoughts in the final though that's risky.

I thought he said something on his R2 programme that implied he made it to the final but maybe I imagined it.🤣

peckishcats · 26/10/2026 11:26

I think so too. You can only be disregarded so many times before you get pissed off with it.

But she said she’d only just started speaking up, she said she’d been staying quiet up to that point.

Maybe it was all in the edit etc, but we didn’t see her try to speak up at all in the task - we saw her refuse to speak up at all and flounce off. The night before when she’d been talking about the perfume bottle the whole pack were following her around the castle listening to her. It’s possible something totally different to what we saw happened off screen / out of edit, but it seems really unreasonable to declare that she’s being ignored by Michael and James b when she refused repeatedly to join in with the conversation and flounced off.

I don’t think it is! You can be direct without being intimidating.

I’m not sure what you’re trying to say. I have nothing against Irish people!

I agree with this.

I just can’t see how anyone would find Joanne intimidating, other than her Irish ways. I’m Irish & can totally relate to how she is & can’t see a single thing about her that’s intimidating at all.

This doesn't make any sense. You can’t see a single thing about her that’s intimidating 'other than her Irish ways' – so you CAN see things about her that are intimidating then.

NoodlesCBMC · 26/10/2026 15:47

I am Irish and I find Joanne loud to the point of rudeness. At the same time I can see she doesn’t mean any harm. No one in my family is that ‘direct’, we are more gently spoken but then we aren’t in the entertainment business!

I came on to say I am beginning to dislike Michael Sheen. I was delighted he was on the show but there is something off with him, it’s around the way he spoke to Sharon, a certain arrogance is starting to show.

I agree that she can seem rude at times with how loud she is, but that’s not intimidating!

Totally agree re Michael - I felt (& now feel) the same! It’s also put me off watching House of Games & I loved watching that with the kids!

There was a nastiness in the way she turned on Miranda, and that to me wasn't like any of the Irish people I know. There's a difference between sassy and baring your teeth, and I felt she did the latter. No doubt that is why we had the extraordinary circumstance of poor Miranda formally and contritely "debunking" her own theory like a child apologising for burping at the table. They are THERE to form theories for goodness sake. That's the whole game. Miranda only did what she is supposed to be doing and what has happened to dozens of previous contestants. Joanna didn't even back off after Miranda's apologetic "debunking"; she kind of launched in again. I found it bullying and I don't think the show could work if everyone got that aggressive about a theory touching on them.

Ironically, had she stayed cool-headed, the obvious retort would have been "well it wasn't ME: who was on your other side?" And then they would have been bullseye focused on Maya, who was on the other side and HAD made the floorboards bounce. But instead Miranda got so discombobulated I think she forgot she had another side! ETA but they were nearly onto a traitor and Joanna derailed it.

ETAA It is possible in my view that Joanna is actually quite shy and nervous and over-compensates.

Calliopespa · 26/10/2026 16:26

Anyway, Sharon is my lady now. Go Sharon!!

Apart from one mention early on, Miranda didn't point the finger at Maya, even before the RT; she kept talking about how she was standing next to Joanne (it's not 'Joanna').

Sorry, the post I had responded to said Joanna, so I thought perhaps I had it wrong in thinking it was just Joanne.

Mathair2 · 26/10/2026 17:48

Her name is JOANNE!!!! Not Joanna.

(Edit) Oops I see that was corrected above 😅

WhereAreWeNow · 26/10/2026 19:09

I'm definitely team Kenny for the win. Maybe Kenny and Maya together. But I don’t think James A deserves to win after the blindfold incident!
Kenny's played so well.

Kenny has played well.

I think Maya has been a bit gutless and a boring watch tbh. Ditto James A.

B9waiting · 26/10/2026 20:01

Kenny & Maya for the win for me too! Maya has been brill with useless traitors (until Kenny came along) so she absolutely deserves it.

No, she didn't point the finger at Maya, but I think the traitors were uncomfortable about her having felt the movement and that's why she was murdered.

PuggyPuggyPuggy · 26/10/2026 21:06

It's the way Joanne leans back, and then glares down at people with her Johnny Rotten stare. It feels aggressive.
