I would get a secret DNA test as well. It would be worth it. She won’t though I bet. Not until they want a big reveal / drama around it all.

Cindy has literally no friends so it's kind of plausible she invited E-laine who is the closet thing she has to an established friendship. It's quite the plot twist considering they were sworn enemies not long ago.

Makes total sense that Ryder is terrified of Ned finding out he is gay yet chooses to bring his date back to the square and kiss him in the middle of the street🙄

I don't know if it's a trick of my eyesight but I feel like gorgeous baby Ethan looks a shade darker/olive skinned than he did at first. I think he is Vinny's. Why doesn't Penny just do an actual DNA test (I think the one she did before for Nicola was fake). Just put herself out of all this misery!

I thought he looked darker too, although it could be another baby actor....

I was sort of expecting gina to say he looked like Harry.

thisoldcity · 09/10/2026 17:32

I'm expecting Ethan to be Vinny's tbh, because otherwise Penny would have at least found out as any normal person would, what the results of a paternity test would be. Staying all worried in ignorance is probably going to make her do something stupid at some point. It might end up being a feel good Christmas story (for once?)

the80sweregreat · 09/10/2026 17:36

She should just do the DNA test and be done with it.

Shellingbynight · 09/10/2026 18:01

I'm expecting him to be Vinny's too, but I think Vinny will find out she wasn't sure and he will feel totally betrayed by the deception (by both her and Suki).

I think Oscar did the fake dna result letter for Penny didn't he?

the80sweregreat · 09/10/2026 18:04

Yes, she asked Oscar to do the fake DnA letter.

I don’t know about a feel good Christmas because on NYD a depressed looking Jack is looking after him which suggests neither Penny nor Vinny are around. In the flashforward scene when Lauren visits him she says something like “Uncle Jack you’ve got Ethan to think of/look after”.

Unless it’s a massive red herring and he’s just babysitting🤷🏽‍♀️

the80sweregreat · 09/10/2026 22:08

There is never a ‘ feel good ‘ Christmas or new year on EE. I don’t recall one anyway !
They always promise it , but sadly it fizzles out pretty quickly.

Eastie77Returns · 10/10/2026 06:22

Whoever says “this is gonna be the best Christmas everrrrr” is guaranteed to end up dead, jilted at the alter, kidnapped or finding out their spouse is cheating by Boxing Day.

Eastie77Returns · 10/10/2026 10:30

At least there was a bit of realism this week when Linda couldn’t get into Lee’s phone just by guessing the code. It always makes me laugh when characters are miraculously able to work out phone pins (or safe codes in Phil’s case, every man and his dog has been able to get into his safe and steal money).

But I don’t understand why they’ve gone to look for Jess? Lee was lying about not being in contact with her or knowing where she is as we saw she has been texting him. So has he just taken Linda on a wild goose chase?

the80sweregreat · 10/10/2026 10:50

Lee will just take Linda to his home I suppose and she isn’t there. Mostly so she’ll be quiet and he can get with deceiving people that she left him.

Shellingbynight · 10/10/2026 11:34

Yes it must be a wild goose chase, because Jess is trying to contact him and he's ignoring her, but his story is that she blocked him and he doesn't know where she is.

Lee was seen getting very drunk twice within a couple of days, it seems he has an alcohol problem. Yet Nancy doesn't seem to have noticed, and neither has Linda and you'd think she would be very highly attuned to that. He would have reeked of alcohol.

the80sweregreat · 10/10/2026 12:45

The Lee and Nancy storyline is just so mad and ridiculous and now we have this mysterious Jess in the mix and Nancy looks like she is about to give birth and who will keep the baby. Probably Linda and she ends up leaving to care for it. As if having five of her own wasn’t enough and one has SEN too.

Eastie77Returns · 10/10/2026 13:28

It’s just a really bizarre storyline. I agree it’s probably been done to facilitate Linda’s exit which is silly as there are a dozen other scenarios they could have come up with to explain Lee and Nancy returning. It has been nice seeing the Carter siblings together though. They all seem to click and have a believable sibling dynamic with the teasing/squabbling/you’re mums favourite etc. Even Johnny’s poor acting has been elevated

So much better than the dreadful Hawkins sisters with their confusing back story and unfathomable age gaps (has anyone worked out who is the eldest?)

the80sweregreat · 10/10/2026 13:35

Whoever works out who the eldest sister is with the Hawkins does deserve a medal! It probably is Gemma , but rather irrationally that has wound me up especially as they could have cast a younger person than Nicola and someone who looks younger than Ryder and a mum who doesn’t dress like she is ten years older than she is as well. Maybe a shortage of actors ?

Eastie77Returns · 10/10/2026 13:46

Nicola looks about 45 to me and Gemma about 48. As many people have pointed out, Gemma being the oldest doesn’t make sense since the back story suggested Nicola was the older one bearing the brunt of the dad’s mistreatment but hey ho. I can’t place Jodie age wise but I fast forward her scenes as she is so annoying so have no idea.

I worked out the sisters' ages and posted upthread.

Nic had Harry when she was 18 in 2002 so she must be 41 or 42, depending when her birthday is.

The other day they made a fuss about Gemma meeting Ned in club in 1994. That is 32 years ago, so if she was only 18 at the time that would make her 50 now (the actress is 51).

Murasaki thought Gemma could have got into a club at 16, so she could be 48 - anyway, Gemma's several years old than Nic.

the80sweregreat · 10/10/2026 14:59

Jodie is an irrelevance, unless they lump her in with Ned to be a baddie! She did steal the drink at the wedding. I don’t feel she adds much and Rose is so one dimensional it’s not funny and I hate how she is with Nicola because she must know that the dad disliked her and he was abusive towards her too.
Whole family are a nightmare.

Eastie77Returns · 10/10/2026 15:49

I think someone already mentioned upthread but the only purpose I can think dreadful Jodie serves is as a love interest for Kojo. Very unfortunate as he can do so much better.

murasaki · 10/10/2026 15:52

It would be a disaster, he's very strict on etiquette and she has no impulse control.

Yes Kojo has strong morals and is a stickler for rules, circumspect in his behaviour etc. Jodie behaves like one of Fagins urchins in Oliver Twist.

Yep, I was definitely going to clubs in 1994 at 16. So it's plausible. But as you say, she has to older than Nic which doesn't tally with the abuse thing in my mind. Unless Nic isn't the dad's kid, of course....

the80sweregreat · 10/10/2026 17:07

Robbie Williams had a brief role in EE on the pay phone in the Vic for about a second once. I wonder if he saw the tribute act they did on Monday !

Oh that's a thought, about Nic not being the dad's child.
(As if they haven't loaded enough secrets onto them already, but Wadey does like to overdo it!)

I was thinking this earlier, could be why her mum hates her so much - reminder of an affair.
