Last nights DPD case update was very good

Because there is 🤷‍♀️ if you don’t understand that it’s a fundamental cornerstone of a fair justice system to have the right not to incriminate yourself I’m not sure what else to say to you.

I am just watching the Amanda Knox drama (The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox), you can see where justice goes wrong when police pressure witnesses/accused to speak with no lawyers present. 3 people imprisoned and lives in ruins for a crime they did not commit. It is a great watch (I swerved it, but so glad I watched it) ITVX or Disney+.

The police want results even if that means stitching someone up.

I watched a true crime doc on Netflix about the cyclist Moriah and thought how the police interviewed the suspects after her murder was atrocious! So many leading questions and assumptions made.

It definitely made me appreciate our police more who seemed more organised and at least trying to do things the right way.

I agree it’s frustrating when they say no comment but in the end it makes no difference if they’re guilty, all of the murderers left enough evidence to prove it anyway.

Another law that needs to be pused through - men who kill wives or partners only get 15ys because it is IN THE HOME!!!!!
They've agreed it is wrong but as with the PR for murdering fathers and pedo's the law has yet to take effect properly so again, men killing partners in the house get less than anyone killing someone on the street.

it is entirely up to the prosecution to establish guilt. Even in court, the accused can say nothing and no inference can be taken from that. They do not need to prove they did not do what they are accused of.

it's a fundamental right to remain silent if you choose to. I understand how frustrating it is for the investigators but also they are well trained and pretty much expect it. It's sometimes not what I'd said or not said but the reactions to the questions.

if anyone's interested the reason a perpetrator of DV often received a short 15 year sentence not life is because (as far as I understand it) the law was that if they had not brought a weapon to the scene of the crime- [so like a homicide outside like a gun crime would be 25yrs+] its 15 years, because the weapon came from within the family home (like a kitchen knife)....they didn't bring the murder weapon to the scene of the crime.

I think two mums who have lost their daughters to their partners have recently fought to get this changed, whereby it should be a full life term regardless of how the weapon came to be there. Murder is murder, the fact that they are married and he used something in the family home makes it all the worse, not a lesser crime.

Don't ask me why on earth that previous law should be like that its a fucking travesty; as I say, hopefully I think the bereaved mums (not from this series but in the press recently) have been fighting hard to get it changed, which must take incredible strength after losing a child.

The mind boggles at how they (most of them) can possibly think they will get away with it?? The dpd one for example, the location, ring doorbelks, number plates, phone tracibg, bloody videos of the weapons? Did they think it through at all??

Talking about institutional misogyny, (and this is nothing to do with murder 24/7) but I’ve been raging about it for days. I can’t get the recent case of Simon Levy out of my head. And the absolute catastrophic failings of the Met, the BTP and the CPS that ultimately led to those poor women needlessly losing their lives. I was so incensed when I read about the full details initially on Friday I wrote to my MP. It’s infuriating and so so sad for those women and their families.

February 2023:

Levy is released from prison on licence, meaning he serves the rest of his sentence in the community under certain conditions.

He receives irregular visits at home from a police officer managing him.

October 2023

Levy sexually assaults a woman on a Tube train.

She reports it on the day but he is not identified by British Transport Police (BTP) for another two years.

May 2024

The Met receives a third-party allegation of rape relating to Levy.

He is arrested and returned to prison for breach of licence, where he remains until the end of his sentence.

August 2024

Levy is released from prison.

The Met becomes the sole agency responsible for managing his risk of future offending and downgrades him from a high-risk sex offender to medium risk, meaning a lower level of monitoring and contact.

Oct to Nov 2024

Levy sexually assaults three women on the Tube in two separate incidents. One victim films him committing an assault on another victim.

Levy is interviewed under caution by BTP but he is not charged.

He is released on bail.

Jan 2025

A vulnerable street sex worker is violently raped by Levy in a car park in Tottenham.

Within days, she is arrested for breaching a community protection notice, which prevented her from being in the area, and tells police what happened to her.

She provides a good description of Levy and where he lives.

The Met closes the investigation that summer, having made limited attempts to speak to her further.

16 march 2025

Levy murders Carmenza Valencia-Trujillo in derelict flats in south London.

Weeks later, local police arrest Levy on suspicion of murder after his DNA is found at the scene.

He is released under investigation but the case is not passed to the Met’s homicide command and is not formally classed as a murder.

April may 2025

Levy is reported to BTP for another sexual assault on the Tube and later charged with five sexual assaults and remanded in police custody.

He appears in court and is released on bail.

More sexual assault on train in may and June 2025

August 2025

Levy murders Sheryl Wilkins in Tottenham.

He is arrested and eventually charged with the murders of both Sheryl and Carmenza.

He is also charged with rape, intentional suffocation, and inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent against the woman he attacked in January 2025.

Yet they arrest a fellow for carrying a baseball bat in the street and send six officers to someone's house over a tweet.
