CORONATION STREET THREAD. We're still in a heatwave, and it's going to be stuffy in that prison for Sarah! Nearly August 2026 already! **No spoilers please.**

Shiny new thread. Smile

So, Sarah's been arrested for killing Theo, Kit is trying to get her out of prison without implicating himself, (and is desperate to pin it on Gary,) and Gary and Maria are at loggerheads after Gary decided to help Sarah cover her tracks!

Swain is as useless as ever, constantly talking very loudly about any case she's working on, and in front of as many people as possible!

Betsy has had a stroke, after engaging in non-fatal strangulation during sex with Dylan, and Dylan's in trouble for it, even though Betsy doesn't blame him. Sean (his dad) is trying to blame anyone but him, even Brodie!

Most other storylines/characters seem to be fairly quiet at the moment, but I'm sure they will touch on them again soon...

In the old days we would have followed them to Blackpool Florida.

I knew as soon as Tim's cousin said something about issues with his wife last night that it was going to be a domestic abuse storyline. As you said @SabreIsMyFave , they've started with the peak.

Dear Scriptwriters, how about letting us get to know a character a bit more than a few bevvies and a night on a sofa, so we can actually GAF about any of it. Yours, again, LSC x

I was a bit disturbed by Ritchie. What on earth has he done ? Sounds like his wife is dead :(

LesserSpottedCharacter · 11/08/2026 11:09

I'm wondering if it's going to be claimed that she was the abusive one and he was acting in self defence.

I think this too!

Keep your bingo card to hand @the80sweregreat .

thenightsky · 11/08/2026 11:29

Can't we get the Theo and Todd DV story finished first before we start another one?

the80sweregreat · 11/08/2026 11:33

It did cross my mind that it’ll turn out Ritchie was abused by his wife. No idea , but it’s a big possibility isn’t it.

They really like doubling down on these issues stories. Debbie had dementia so they had to bring in someone else with it. Sarah has killed in self defence so we have to have another one of those too and apparently half the street have strangled someone during sex.

Myrealnameisbetty · 11/08/2026 13:42

All these issues (not just in Corrie) being highlighted is all very well but they're trying to present too many at one time. This is why the realism just isn't there. I know it's been mentioned before but no way on earth would you live on the same street or even a few streets away/eat your breakfast in the same local caff/sup your pints in the same pub as the cops who arrested you or the lawyers either defending or prosecuting you or any of your relatives.

Quite sad to see how the soaps have one downhill. 🫤

Exactly. All drink at the same pub, work on the street, date people on the street, marry people on the street, have babies with people on the street, live on the street or with someone else in the street etc, and live within a stone's throw of many of your relatives. I know it's fiction, but it's rather far fetched now!

I feel that back in 1960 when it started, that many (working class in particular) people did live close to quite a few relatives, work near where they live, and socialise at the same one or two pubs or social club. It was like that in my little working class town in the North Midlands. Many people working at the local mine, factory, mill, or store/supermarket, a dozen or more relatives in walking distance, and your home within walking distance or a very short bike ride. Many people dated - and married someone who lived within 1-3 miles. But 65+ years on, it's not like that for most, but Corrie hasn't moved on to reflect that.

They did that with Theo, Joel and not forgetting Shona’s sister who’s back story has still not been fully revealed.

I feel sorry for Tim. He was so happy he persuaded his cousin to return to wife, He’ll think it’s his fault now, It wouldn’t have happened if he just let his cousin go stay with his mate as he wanted to.

the80sweregreat · 11/08/2026 15:06

I know I’m getting on a bit, but I can’t follow what is going on with Sarah and the others really or just lack of concentration, which sounds like my old school reports.

JewelleryCat · 11/08/2026 16:22

The actors who play Carl and Jodie are dating in real life

Clawdy · 11/08/2026 16:57

Yet another grim storyline, it's getting worse.

Imgoingoutforawhile · 11/08/2026 20:49

Why are Brodie’s sisters in Spain and who with? Sorry can’t remember their names

Empress13 · 11/08/2026 20:50

Think scriptwriters come on here Amy mentioned Fit Kit! Hope to God he doesn’t get with Jodie

Empress13 · 11/08/2026 20:53

Reckon Tim and Sally will have another foster child !

JewelleryCat · 11/08/2026 20:59

So who was Kit leaving a message for saying he’ll be there? Doctors?

The factory is completely daft, it should have closed 30 years ago.

Many pubs like the Rovers are closing, nothing ever happens there and for some reason it has a juke box that only plays Heart of Glass

JewelleryCat · 11/08/2026 20:59

That baffled me too. I doubt it was the doctor though, as he was returning a call after an answerphone message, and in my experience doctors don't usually leave answerphone messages. Also, they don't tend to have the ability to leave messages when you ring them, it just goes through to a message saying 'the surgery is closed until 8.30am tomorrow. If you have an emergency please phone 999...'

Could have been a specialist to do with some kind of health related issue though, or maybe a solicitor. Who knows?

Guess we'll find out soon. (I hope.) Smile

I can't believe they've started another murder enquiry on the Street so soon after the other. No imagination.
