Bethany was convicted of murdering her mother but claims she is innocent.

She is estranged from her father Leonard (Sam Hazeldine – The Lord of The Rings: The Rings of Power, Slow Horses), who is the charismatic leader of an influential religious movement.

Bethany tells Gabs that she has psychic powers and can predict the future - but what will it take for Gabs to believe her?

And if Bethany didn’t kill her mother, then who did?

The cast also includes Stephen Campbell Moore (The History Boys, Masters of the Air), Lisa Palfrey (Sex Education, Cobra), Siena Kelly (Black Mirror, Domino Day), Naby Dakhli (House of David, Messiah), Richard Elis (The Pact, Creisis), Dean Rehman (The Kite Runner, Until I Kill You), Robert Rhodes (28 Years Later, House of the Dragon) and Ruth Jones (Gavin & Stacey, Stella).

India Amarteifio is outstanding, and Iwan Rheon is as wondrously watchable as ever (though I worry that he will never, ever find another character as great as Ramsay Bolton), and the show is beautifully produced - but I can’t help feeling that if you take all that away it’s essentially one of those interminable Radio 4 afternoon drama series - full of threat and conspiracy and something vaguely fantastical, but never actually amounting to very much at all.

I think I’m enjoying it because I love the cast and the storyline

I was wondering who drew the pictures ( as they are good) and with one cheap biro that’s not run out yet !
It is good. I am suspicious of everyone though !

I am finding Bethany very annoying , I guess we are meant to , but she is so hard to like. She definitely hasn’t done this though ( is my thought process , not a spoiler at all ) She must have been framed , but not sure how that happened.

I loved the book!

I won't be watching another. I'm not interested in dramas about religious cults and am fed up with BBC obsession about climate change. I've no wish to be lectured on a Sunday evening! Some good actors though.

It's a strange coincidence that the last scene was Bethany' drawing of a raging inferno destroying civilisation which was followed by the 10 o'clock news featuring fires across Europe. Just saying.

I thought it was mediocre, putting it kindly. I agree with the PP who doesn't rate Ruth M, although India A is very good. But it's all a lot of hot air (sorry).

And it's supposed to be a billion degrees but I got no sense of the heat at all.

It's all a bit predictable so far, troubled heroine, climate change deniers, cult leaders and a disillusioned journalist. My wild guess is that mum stabbed herself through the eye because of what the cult leader said she'd 'foreseen' . Just my theory, not a spoiler!

I kept wondering why everytime one of her pictures was folded up/the back on show why were there never any of the lines that come through when you’re using a biro, especially as hard as she does 😂 the backs are always completely smooth!

That biro deserves its own award ! Not running out of ink or blotting the back of the paper.

I assume Bethany only sees a fragment of the future or something like that, must be a reason she doesn’t know exactly what happened here.
Why doesn’t Gabs have any other patients ? Do they only have one to work with , is that the normal procedure in a secure unit like this ?

She did say that she and her mum knew what was going to happen (i.e. her mother dying) but they didn’t know when or how to stop it.

The drawings are mostly by Mike Fischetti who used to be on CBBC Smart.

I'm sure it is much easier to describe her drawings in the book so the reader can use their imagination, but on screen it doesn't really work, 30 seconds of frenzied biro scraping would not produce those beautiful pics. Thanks for the info on who actually does them @BestIsWest

There is a lot Gabs does that doesn’t follow normal procedure for these type of settings, including things that would mean she would be removed from the HCPC register for sure!

No, I imagine there is a lot of poetic licence here with the security and confidential information and so on!
It doesn’t seem as secure as I would imagine it should be , but no idea in the real world.

It reminded me a bit of ‘ the sculptress ‘ by Minette walters. She didn’t see the future, but you were wondering if she was a villian or not.

Liz Jensen's book The Rapture is one of my top ten all time favourites. This TV series is VERY different from the book. I don't like it!
