The info on their outfits could be provided as superimposed on-screen text each week.

I’d quite like that!

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 12/08/2026 00:10

I generally assume that none of them are in RTW. The Foldline sometimes do a collection of patterns to get Esme's look, and in previous years they also did patterns to get the look of the made garments, but I guess it would be a lot of work to also cover the clothes that the contestants are wearing. The BBC probably can't give a list of patterns because they can't give brand names.

I loved Anna’s shirt, what a masterpiece. I think she’ll win. Did anyone notice a a mark on her neck that looked like a love bite?

It's always been there - my guess is a scar from Thyroid surgery.

Anna and Beth remain my favourites, although there really wonderful sewers in the group.

I'm glad we've seen the back of Tim; he was lucky to last this long.

I wish there was a section where they told us what of the contestants outfits is handmade vs RTW. Not that it matters, it would just save me wondering for the duration of the episode / trying to spot fabrics and patterns that I recognise!

I totally get the interest but I think that would be intrusive.

BookShark · 12/08/2026 07:15

Can you imagine the pressure to sew yourself a new outfit to wear each week rather so that you're not called out for being the person who bought their top in Prinark?!

I think Adele was wearing this one, yesterday (or maybe the butterick version)

But I don’t think it need be done in a judgemental tone, @BookShark - and the sewers would only be invited to share what they wanted to share.

So:

Amanda - Cotton blouse first worn by her mother to a disco in 1978. Culottes from Boston street market.

Beulah - First successful dress made using her own pattern.

Charlie - Uni amateur team rugby shirt. Jeans rescued from brother’s house moving clear out.

Etc.

Wasn’t convinced by bowling shirts as mtm. By definition they are not fitted and none of them really worked from that pov, the task seemed more about creativity and technique. However the basics of a well constructed shirt didn’t really come through.

Piggywaspushed · 12/08/2026 08:20

Yes, just caught up. All the female models had them fitted very snugly (apart from Anna's and Adele's) and the point of a bowling shirt is that it is loose for bowling! Had they never seen them before or something?? In particular, one of the models is really pretty busty and Rebecca seemed not to be able to work with that and it looked like Emma's fitted really badly too. Most of them weren't in traditional bowling shirt fabric either. Quite a few got away with murder !

littlemousebigcheese · 12/08/2026 09:05

Minnie shares her outfits on her Instagram and everything she wears is made by her!

deeahgwitch · 12/08/2026 09:16

Anna’s bowling shirt was a worthy winner. Such creativity 😮 I’m in awe.
I loved the skirt and top combination with the wave top and felt that should have won the Transformation. I think it was Minnie and Beth, “cohesive and dramatic” as @LilyLemonadecommented.
Esme’s necklace was lovely.
I felt so sorry for Minnie with the glue sticking on her great bowling shirt, someone commented kindly on the show that the effect could be the ice on the ice hockey rink. True, a tenuous link, but true 😀

Piggywaspushed · 12/08/2026 09:18

That was Patrick!

AuntieBiotics · 12/08/2026 09:20

I thought the two piece top/trousers made from the sail looked like something Anneka Rice would have worn on one of her Challenge programmes in the late 80s.

I still don't like how the transformation is not about creating wearable items. I did like a couple of seasons back they did a sashiko visible mending challenge with hand sewing and patching - that would be more appropriate to extend the life of clothing.

Piggywaspushed · 12/08/2026 09:28

Yes, I thought it looked like something Bucks Fizz might have worn. I didn't think the 'loin piece' added much , other than panic 'cohesion'.

I think it's a birth mark. It's been there since the beginning.

If you'd been sewing for a while you would probably have enough to wear. I certainly have. Any ready to wear in my wardrobe is over 10 years old except jeans.

I'd settle for notes on where Sophie buys her clothes.

unfamiliarwithyourwork · 12/08/2026 09:39

There’s probably an instagram account by her stylist …

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 12/08/2026 09:45

I was just looking at Rebecca's Instagram last night and she was making some trousers and she asked that if commentators recognised the pattern that they say the name and brand in the comments because she's not allowed to by BBC rules. And that's not even something that she made on the show, just something she made for herself while the show is being aired.

deeahgwitch · 12/08/2026 09:58

I love Minnie’s style of dressing.
Simple but lovely.

unfamiliarwithyourwork · 12/08/2026 10:02

I find her frocks rather droopy.

(Sorry, Minnie!)

It looks to me as if she’s had a tracheotomy at some point. Probably not though

Wrenbirdwren · 12/08/2026 10:41

I wonder if they collectively decided that they would make the bowling shirts fit themselves rather than the models so they could keep them for themselves after the show. That would explain the fit on Rebecca's and Emma's.
I couldn't sleep last night for planning my own shirt, not that I will make it. It would be birdwatching themed and I'd have a Eurasian Jay and oak leaves on the back, and make the collar and sleeves out of dark green needlecord. Maybe I'll give it a go!!

I think it might be be a keloid scar. A friend of mine has one in a similar place. I think the neck is quite a common place for them to form . A tracheotomy is a straight line usually. Anyway, it doesn’t really matter does it?

ETA forgot to say I loved her bowling shirt. And Minnie’s even though it went wrong. I agreed with Patrick that the glue looked a bit like ice, which was lucky!
