Can you wash it? Or would it be binned after being worn only a few times? 😱

That is beautiful! I'm tempted to give that a go! I think that could be washed. The one in Sewing Bee was different though - she said she bashed the flowers onto the material with a hammer.

Fabrics used to be dyed with pigments extracted from plants.

But they didn’t have actual flowers hammered onto them. Even I know onions make yellow and I haven’t got a scooby. Or do they..?

Boiling onion skins in fabric makes them turn yellow. Do this in summer. And you need a lot of skins. Not the onion bit and salt to set it.

Google suggests that hammered flower printed fabrics can be washed but need gentle handling. Hand-wash with ph neutral liquid soap.
The fabric has to be prepared before the hammering also, so not just straight onto untreated fabric.

Hmm … Well, I’m missing The Pitt; will be bereft after watching the finale of The Bear soon; (I’ve been hoarding it, unwatched) and am counting down the hours for tomorrow’s episode of House of the Dragon. Clearly we have different routes to being thrilled. 😂

@Davros, at the start of this year I had divested myself of all my streaming subscriptions except Apple TV and Prime. I’d signed up for monthly membership of my local cinema and started going a couple times a week. But then the heatwave made cinema trips much less attractive and I re-registered with Now TV and Disney. I am not impressed with myself …

@unfamiliarwithyourwork I like the cinema when it’s hot, aircon! I went on my own just last Friday and may do so again this Friday, as long as it’s not the Odyssey. I’m still a BBC faithful and happy to pay for the licence

I thought Anna and Beth's dresses were equally fabulous. Anna's GOTW of the week was well deserved but it could equally have been Beth. The dress for life was so original in both material and construction, brilliantly executed, and strong messaging.
I assumed the unfinished hem on Anna's dress was intentional - it looked like a contemporary take on a period piece.
It was a really good episode with some stunning creations.

I'm hoping these two don't make any huge mistakes along the way because I'm really looking forward to the final weeks if they're both still in.

Esme is losing her hearing, so it might affect her speech.
