Was it Priya? Barney saw her do it and is protecting Avani.

the80sweregreat · 23/07/2026 20:54

Priya said she was out with friends! Which friends? They rarely know people away from the square! She may well be lying ( or with max !)

Southeastdweller · 23/07/2026 21:00

The attacker being Priya makes sense if the actress really is pregnant and will be going in maternity leave soon.

I assumed Priya was with Max. He was in the pub earlier, but left. If she did it, why would she be 'out' for hours afterwards. She seemed genuinely shocked by what had happened.

The actress will need some maternity leave but she needs to be back and up the duff in Max's bed on NYD.

EmeraldShamrock000 · 23/07/2026 21:41

Jack is luckily he left the pub to visit the hospital, I was so annoyed by him lapping up the flirting, fool, while his teenagers are dealing with a serious life changing situation.
Priya has a motive. When teenagers try take control of dangerous situations they never do well.

Meredusoleil · 23/07/2026 21:45

I think Priya is a good shout actually, because she was pulling an odd face when she came home and saying what those words to Avani was like she wanted her to spill the beans about what happened (not accusing her of doing it herself, like Avani thought).

Southeastdweller · 23/07/2026 21:51

The writers will have to curtail her role in the NYD episode which I think will be easy because the woman in Max’s bed didn’t seem as pivotal to the story as the bride. The actress may be willing to do the odd scene in a few months’ time, post-birth.

Shellingbynight · 23/07/2026 21:57

Why would they need to curtail her role? They have had plenty of notice so they could already have filmed any necessary scenes for that storyline, ready to slot in later.

Yes they could have shot some stuff already - I hadn’t thought of that and if they do need her again she can do bits and bobs after she’s had the baby. But then, we don’t know if Priya really is that woman in his bed.

I hope it's not Barney and he's covering for someone. The scenes with the teens have been done well. They're better actors than most of the adults. The scene in the Arches reminded me of something but I can place it. Reservoir dogs or something?

Alucard55 · 23/07/2026 22:31

And what type of woman comes onto man who's wife is in hospital getting cancer treatment.

My thoughts exactly

Totally agree. It was almost predatory like behaviour. But she wasn't very fussy obviously, as once Jack had knocked her back, she moved straight onto Mark!

Does she know that Mark is A Mitchell?
Will it compromise any investigations if she has got sweaty in the gym with him
Or is this an elabourate honey-trap ( see Phil and Kate many years ago )
It moved a bit fast for that though.

I do like Mark but when he was driving that SUV and on the phone escaping from the police , he kept poking his tongue out . Eurgh , not attractive .

Well ! In today's episode, I was amazed at the wisdom of Ian Beale, knowing that Lauren is hiding something, he told her to her face he has "seen this before, and it's guilt." Spot on, from the character who is regarded as a joke.

Ian clocked the looks Lauren gave Mark when they were in "Harry's Barn"
Not just a "Oh there's Mark , back to my drink" she was properly following him with her eyes.
Ian has been there with Cindy . He has the scars .

I thought he was Mark Fowler rather than Mark Mitchell 🤔

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 24/07/2026 07:47

Well he is yes , but he has Grant Mitchells blood in his veins ! Wink

That's true 👍

Shellingbynight · 24/07/2026 08:28

That female cop just seemed to be there for plot reasons - try to shag Jack (Jack reconciles with Denise), try to shag Mark (Mark makes Lauren jealous).

Speaking of Denise, she is having a lot of close contact with visitors for someone 'in isolation'. Jack wearing a flimsy plastic apron is not going to protect her from anything.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 24/07/2026 09:11

My money is on Priya having caved Joel's skull in.
She would be very much "Well you weren't going to protect my daughter so someone had to . And that someone is me "
If Ravi had got him, he'd have been in the river not left in a park .

Barney might think he's injured Joel , maybe they had a fight and he's going over and over in his head, blaming himself .
Or he found the weapon.

Where did the hammer come from anway ? Was Joel carrying it , taken from Ross's van? Though 99% of the population would have a hammer in the toolbox under the sink , this is the place where no-one has their own kettle !

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 24/07/2026 09:14

Ohhhh and I love Clive .

Clive - Be Nice . We dont need any more nasty blokes on the Square .

Shellingbynight · 24/07/2026 09:31

Clive leaves me completely cold. I know Jason Durr is well thought of, but I can see him 'acting', nothing feels authentic.

I just rewatched Priya's scene. I think her reactions were partly because Ravi was there and she had just come back from seeing Max, and she didn't want him sniffing around. And partly because she immediately assumed Avani did it. She did a lot of 'you can tell us anything Avani' which I doubt she would do if she dunnit herself.

That hammer looked very shiny. Who has a shiny hammer!😄

Southeastdweller · 24/07/2026 09:52

Jason Durr is trying to do a bit of a cockney accent and it sounds fake. Can’t get too invested in his character as he’s short-term and if they do bring him back, he’ll cheat on Linda or screw her over in some way because that’s the way it goes with the ‘nice’ characters (most of the time).

OP posts:
Alucard55 · 24/07/2026 10:15

I find Clive a bit off. Trying to hard to be nice.

Shellingbynight · 24/07/2026 11:54

Oh is that what it is - trying a different accent? That would make sense.
And yes he seems a bit too try-hard in general.
