Watching at tv pace , it doesn’t end for ages , but as it’s all on I player obviously some may have watched it all.
I admit that I’ve been at a loose end and needed something to watch this week.
What do others think ? I did enjoy it. It was a strange drama and I can’t tell if it was satire or a black comedy or just the holiday from hell! Or all three.
The policeman made me laugh ( how lovely was he) and a few quips. Some really good acting too.
I feel guilty for binging it.

Zoe didn’t have deep feelings for Jon - she just wanted a no strings shag with a much younger, good looking guy (and who can blame her? 😉).

quirkychick · 16/06/2026 18:22

No, I don't think she had deep feelings for him, but Solomon admitying to hitting him, doesn't show him in a great light. Dan has tried to kill himself with the car, in the past and Solomon tries to hit someone else with a car.

the80sweregreat · 16/06/2026 18:23

Zoe needs to stay away from cars back home.!

Again to me, with Zoe's 'visions' of the Moirai, it shows literally that thin line between life/fertility and fragility/death.

Yes, I agree. I loved the visions of the Moirai (not so sure about the need to be topless, unless it referenced something I missed). How closely life can go one way or another.

MyGhastIsFlabbered · 23/06/2026 14:23

I was watching at TV pace until episode 5/6 which I’ve just binged, as I was just so tired of everyone and wanted it to be over. Poor goat.

Nobody came out well.

Gateappreciation · 26/06/2026 19:58

What a bizarre and wonderful series. Must admit, wasn’t too sure watching the first two episodes, and then it gripped me, even though I was slightly confused what was going on half the time (Greek references, naked lady, missing money storyline etc). Loved the bizarre party at the neighbours house. Also I loved how everyone went from goody to baddy at a flick of a switch. Felt sorry for Jess who was the outsider, and saw her husband (almost) having an affair. Probably the only one who came out smelling of roses was Nat, as she starts her new life on the island ( although how the house was inhabitable one day, then housed them all a few days later is a bit questionable).

The policeman was hot!

Loved the music also. Been listening to Crowded House a lot since as a result of it.

Remind me never to go holiday on an island with a group of friends from university.

the80sweregreat · 26/06/2026 20:08

I liked the policeman too.
Crowded house are fab arn’t they. I should buy some CDs of theirs. I did like how the music married up with what was going on.

They left in small boats.
Oh the irony.
With surprisingly little luggage.
Will they really make it to the mainland ?
Zoe will have sunstroke before she get there. At least the children have a hat.
A lot of suspension of disbelief by the viewer.
I didn’t click that the woman and child she met was herself. I should have paid more attention to that scene.
What insights was she given ? I don’t have BBC Iplayer to check back as I don’t live in the UK.
Those poor children subjected to the awful rows of their parents. ☹️

Her 'mother' says to the adult Zoe: I always think holidays will make everything better. But, it's still you, isn't it?

deeahgwitch · 29/06/2026 08:54

Thank you for replying @MulberryBrandy

Meredusoleil · 29/06/2026 09:51

Also, the mother calls out "Zoe" to the child.

Gateappreciation · 29/06/2026 22:19

I presumed it was a coincidence that the child had the same name, and (adult) Zoe saw it as a sign.

Someone upthread noticed that the girl was carrying Zoe's book about the Greek myths.

the80sweregreat · 29/06/2026 22:40

I thought that the lady Zoe met was her own mum and that was her as a child ! Like a kind of flash back as she said she’d been there before.

The OP on the No Spoilers thread is asking for the link to this thread. I said why not tell us their verdict now they have finished the lot!

the80sweregreat · 29/06/2026 22:45

I can’t do links on here !

I see that you are on both as well - that has confused me a few times when I have been careful not to reveal too much .... 😎

I didn’t cop on to that at the time. I just thought it was a really odd scene. I should have taken more notice of it.

Like everything it doesn't really work if you engage too much either! We know what our mothers look like even if they have aged. The other part that doesn't work is that Zoe, the girl and the adult, love and are obsessed with the ancient Greek .... like the father.

HollyBerri · 01/07/2026 23:55

Not sure if i liked it but watched it all.
Was anyone else irritated by the fact that they were in jumpers and long sleeves (especially Zoes husband) even though it was the middle of August. He was sunbathing in a long sleeved shirt.
Made me feel hot just looking at him.
