What TV shows have you been unable to get into even though they are meant to be amazing?

For me it’s The Sopranos, The Bear, and Succession. I also gave up on Severance. Just never went back. I don’t get The Bear at all. I haven’t completely written these off and would go back if someone can strenuously argue for them in a way that persuades me!

Shitts creek
Yellowstone

Notmeagain12 · 04/05/2026 18:34

yes! All of these!

schitts creek, breaking bad, west wing. I tried.

i love Gary Oldman so keep trying slow horses but still struggling.

the Pitt isn’t as great as everyone raves about. I love a good medical drama, and Noah Wyle so will keep watching, but I had anticipated a more grab you from the start 24 style timer. I still remember watching that first episode and the real time countdown to the hour at the end and just being stunned…sometimes I forget the Pitt is one shift per series. It needs more Shawn Hatosy too.

ScottBakula · 04/05/2026 18:51

All soaps
All reality shows from come dine with me , homes under the hammer, big brother, singing / dancing , stuck on a island / jungle, baking / cooking and all other 'look at me' shows.
Tbh I don't think I have ever tried watching any of PPs programs.

I generally don't watch TV!

Greentableleg · 04/05/2026 18:54

I was so looking forward to The Pitt but just couldn't get into it and just thought it was nowhere near as good as ER.

JustAboutMuddlingThrough · 04/05/2026 18:55

Schitts creek. Utter garbage!!

sprigatito · 04/05/2026 19:08

I’m generally pretty sick of American TV, tbh. Some of it is very good, and I have nothing against Americans at all, but I sometimes feel quite swamped by their culture, their media, their humour and slang etc. I find it increasingly difficult to “get into” yet another American series. I’m just grumpy and getting old, I suppose.

landlordhell · 04/05/2026 19:15

Watched episode one of Peaky Blinders.

Fleabag I think its absolute rubbish and .I find PWB quite jarring I can't even listen to her.

This. Watched one episode talking about anal sex. Wasn’t funny.

landlordhell · 04/05/2026 19:18

Then again I am a 55 year old woman who doesn’t like musicals, Take That , cake or Prosecco so I am indeed an outlier.

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 04/05/2026 19:37

@Wingingit247 Breaking Bad needs you to get through the first season as well, to be honest. Season 4 is THE perfect season of TV.

The Bear
The Good Place

It took us 3 goes to get into The Wire, but once we persevered we loved it. DH more than me, he's now watched it 3 times!

marypoppinsreturns · 04/05/2026 21:12

Game of thrones

onedogatoddlerandababy · 04/05/2026 21:19

Wow I thought Seasons 1-2 of Ozark waa some of the beat TV I've ever seen. It all goes down for me in the later seasons though.

Runningismyhappyplace50 · 04/05/2026 23:00

Strangers Things- watched the first season, started the second but it isn’t for me, same with The handmaid’s tale.

Debtdolly · 04/05/2026 23:24

I’m usually not a quitter, and try and see things through to the end, even if they are a bit naff, however I didn’t get very far into Bridgerton or Only Murders in the Building before giving up.

Suits - I persevered with for a few seasons but stopped caring and didn’t go back.

Villanousvillans · 04/05/2026 23:25

I bloody loved Ozark. It has some of the very best strong female roles of anything I’ve ever watched.

Illjusthavethebreadsticks · 04/05/2026 23:32

Traitors

lilybit2025 · 04/05/2026 23:38

Friends. I genuinely don't find it funny. I think I've watched one for 2 minutes and turned it off. American humour doesn't tickle me at all. I find it actually very over the top and boring.

Eastie77Returns · 04/05/2026 23:38

Blue Lights. I’ve tried on multiple occasions but just find it dull, dull, dull.

Breaking Bad and Schitts Creek are two of the finest shows to ever grace our screens. I cannot understand how anyone could think otherwise.

lilybit2025 · 04/05/2026 23:38

Oh also breaking bad. Everyone I know loves it. Tried 5 episode and was bored shitless!

I'm the same! Hence I have gone through nearly all of Walter Presents. Currently on S2 of Turkish series Graveyard on Netflix.

LikeGolddust · 05/05/2026 01:00

@EineReiseDurchDieZeit If you liked The Wire I’m surprised you can’t get into The Sopranos. It’s really, really wonderful TV. Do try it again - it’s so worth watching. The cast of characters is amazing. The breath and scope of the acting and storyline’s incredible.

Whenever I hear the HBO ‘static’ I’m still taken straight back to The Sopranos.

Mylittlepea · 05/05/2026 03:37

Peaky Blinders
Ozark
Yellowstone
Downton Abbey
Game of Thrones
The Handmaid’s Tale

Can’t bear a period drama tbh…..talking of periods:

if films count….SALTBURN 🤮🛁.🩸😂

Another 55 year old here 👋 who thinks Musicals are the most awful things ever. We’re in good company though - Adele thinks the same 😊
