Bolton nonna

Ohwhatfuckeryitistoride · 11/05/2026 20:08

Nan. Bloody hell, its not compulsory.

Sunbird24 · 11/05/2026 20:09

Never ate anything like this when I lived in Bolton

Piggywaspushed · 11/05/2026 20:09

Someone on here must have a granny who was really shit at cooking.

TheDogsMother · 11/05/2026 20:10

This is very rich.

I did ! My Scottish gran. She was a dreadful cook 🤣

bungobungobungo · 11/05/2026 20:10

Evening I don’t like that kind of pastry.

I’ve said it before - all I learned from my nanna in the kitchen was to butter bread all the way to the edges. And how to not fall into the toploading washing machine…

Ohwhatfuckeryitistoride · 11/05/2026 20:11

The steak rossini is a bit retro.

ilovesooty · 11/05/2026 20:12

I'd lost three of my grandparents before I was 5 then the last one died. No idea what her cooking was like but she used to cook on a weekly timetable I was told.

RomainingCalm · 11/05/2026 20:12

Didn’t we have a failed cake like that last week?

(And yes, my neither of my grannies could cook. Tinned salmon sandwiches were gourmet dining on a ‘posh’ day).

Ohwhatfuckeryitistoride · 11/05/2026 20:13

That's funny looking choux.

Oh you’ve reminded me of the tins/jars of sandwich paste! And Fray Bentos pies…

ilovesooty · 11/05/2026 20:14

Heart attack on a plate 🤣

Didn’t they mix the salmon with vinegar (and bones) 🤢

To be honest, with a twin tub washing machine that washed at around 100’c, a chip pan permanently on the go, and a temperamental pressure cooker I’m surprised I survived past primary school.

jay55 · 11/05/2026 20:15

One of my grandmothers could not cook at all. She existed on salads and boiled potatoes (was vegetarian except for occasionally eating bacon).

Plus a coffee percolator that always threatened to take off like a rocket.

My mum varied between shite(her Yorkshire puds were like hocky pucks) and pretty ok. The best one was she made rabbit pie and mixed up the pastry for an apple pie. So sweet rabbit pie.

Oh no, I meant on the show! I had two grans and a mother who couldn't cook. They have been an inspiration.

Sunbird24 · 11/05/2026 20:18

I thought that was a macaroon…

Fransgran · 11/05/2026 20:20

I have already said too much about family incompetence in the kitchen and will draw an uncharacteristically discreet veil. Btw Anna was on Saturday Kitchen at the weekend - a vision in red. I couldn't get over how different she looked out of her whites and in a bright red lipstick.

littlbrowndog · 11/05/2026 20:20

Not on in Scotland. Had to go to bbc London

littlbrowndog · 11/05/2026 20:20

I hate that pastry stuff

ilovesooty · 11/05/2026 20:21

Dead proud Nonna looking down
