New drama/thriller on for 6w

ITV's 6-part detective drama is a must-watch for Death in Paradise fans – see first look
A Taste For Murder stars Warren Brown as a detective who, after the death of his wife, embarks on a new crime-solving adventure in Capri, Italy

Daria (Gaia Scodellaro), DCI Joe Mottram (Warren Brown), Inspector Lara Sarrancino (Cristiana Dell'Anna), Elena Da Vinale (Phyllis Logan), Angelica (Beau Gadsdon), Chef Gennaro (Urbano Barberini)

Starring Warren Brown (The Responder, Trigger Point) and Phyllis Logan (Downton Abbey), the drama is set in Capri, Italy, and uniquely blends crime-filled mysteries with mouth-watering local cuisine, which sits at the heart of each episode.

If you're a fan of crime dramas set against beautiful, sun-soaked backdrops, then you're in for a treat. With creator Matt Baker (Patience, Professor T, Hotel Portofino) at the helm and Whitstable Pearl's Jon Jones directing, it's set to fill that crime drama gap in your viewing schedule.

Much like Death in Paradise, which sees its lead detective relocate abroad for a fresh start, A Taste For Murder follows detective Joe Mottram as he retreats to Capri with his daughter after the tragic death of his wife.

There, they spend the summer living with his Italian in-laws.
The synopsis continues: "Unsure how to face his own grief, let alone help heal his daughter's broken heart, he quickly becomes immersed in the local murder cases on the island."

For Detective Chief Inspector Joe Mottram, a summer on the island of Capri was meant to be an opportunity to reconnect with his troubled teenage daughter, Angelica, and his Italian in-laws, after his wife’s Francesca’s death by a hit-and-run.

But when a British tourist is found dead and a member of his late wife’s family is accused of murder, Joe is pulled back into a world of police cells, crime scenes and local corruption.

As he discovers more about the island, he realises it holds the answers to Francesca’s death, which may not have been a tragic accident after all.

Just finished the last episode. Enjoyed those. There’s going to be a second (3rd, 4th…….) series isn’t there

We finished the last episode last night, also enjoyed it. I liked that Joe opened up about his childhood when talking with Angelica.

I have really liked the whole series, hope there is a second series too.

Def has to be a 2nd series and seems his wife was murdered rather then an accident
but why ……

Just started watching this on ITVX and am thinking yes, this is much more my style 😎

Love the Italian scenery and language. Does anyone know where it was actually filmed?

Just saw in the OP that it was filmed on the island of Capri 😉

And Croatia I believe

Davros · 02/06/2026 10:43

I thought it was all filmed in Croatia

It was pretty poor tbh but I still watched all the episodes. It just felt cheaply made and the acting was a bit shite. The plots were a bit daft as well.
But I will probably watch another season as I like a bit of easy viewing and the scenery was lovely.

Meredusoleil · 03/06/2026 19:01

I'm actually really enjoying this.

The scenery, the food, the Italian language, the scooters, the gorgeous actors.

Much prefer this (even if it was filmed in Croatia) than the weird Two Weeks in August that I watched before 😏
