New drama/thriller on for 6w

ITV's 6-part detective drama is a must-watch for Death in Paradise fans – see first look
A Taste For Murder stars Warren Brown as a detective who, after the death of his wife, embarks on a new crime-solving adventure in Capri, Italy

Daria (Gaia Scodellaro), DCI Joe Mottram (Warren Brown), Inspector Lara Sarrancino (Cristiana Dell'Anna), Elena Da Vinale (Phyllis Logan), Angelica (Beau Gadsdon), Chef Gennaro (Urbano Barberini)

Starring Warren Brown (The Responder, Trigger Point) and Phyllis Logan (Downton Abbey), the drama is set in Capri, Italy, and uniquely blends crime-filled mysteries with mouth-watering local cuisine, which sits at the heart of each episode.

If you're a fan of crime dramas set against beautiful, sun-soaked backdrops, then you're in for a treat. With creator Matt Baker (Patience, Professor T, Hotel Portofino) at the helm and Whitstable Pearl's Jon Jones directing, it's set to fill that crime drama gap in your viewing schedule.

Much like Death in Paradise, which sees its lead detective relocate abroad for a fresh start, A Taste For Murder follows detective Joe Mottram as he retreats to Capri with his daughter after the tragic death of his wife.

There, they spend the summer living with his Italian in-laws.
The synopsis continues: "Unsure how to face his own grief, let alone help heal his daughter's broken heart, he quickly becomes immersed in the local murder cases on the island."

For Detective Chief Inspector Joe Mottram, a summer on the island of Capri was meant to be an opportunity to reconnect with his troubled teenage daughter, Angelica, and his Italian in-laws, after his wife’s Francesca’s death by a hit-and-run.

But when a British tourist is found dead and a member of his late wife’s family is accused of murder, Joe is pulled back into a world of police cells, crime scenes and local corruption.

As he discovers more about the island, he realises it holds the answers to Francesca’s death, which may not have been a tragic accident after all.

I’m enjoying this, all the ingredients I like. I love Phylis Logan’s clothes and the slow, enticing cooking scenes. I’m not sure what the real time TV schedule is so I hope I’m not speaking out of turn when I say I reckon the wife’s death will become an investigation

Yourmywifenow · 28/04/2026 23:35

I’ve just been crying 😭. I hope there is another series!
I have no shame, 😂.
Other than the crime, what a great advert for Italy!

This was filmed in Croatia and I thought it was Italy!

the80sweregreat · 29/04/2026 22:18

The scenery was lovely, but Warren Brown just looked bemused and his daughter looked older than 17.
It’s easy viewing, but I wasn’t invested in it..

Clawdy · 29/04/2026 22:33

A real cosy crime one, a bit ordinary, but I did enjoy it, and will keep watching. Beautiful place and lovely meals!

the80sweregreat · 29/04/2026 22:46

Every episode he cooks a dish I assume! They should put him on celebrity masterchef.

snowibunni · 29/04/2026 22:49

I might have made this up but isn't he a kick boxing expert ? I wonder if his skills will be called on!

snowibunni · 29/04/2026 22:50

I was a nit nonplussed when the Italian officer went into the suspects house with her weapons drawn and told the British guy the at he was just an observer.

the80sweregreat · 29/04/2026 22:52

WB is a kickboxer apparently! He looks fit
I still think he looks a bit sad, but then he has lost his wife I suppose.

Indianajet · 29/04/2026 22:53

It was okay, but I wasn't gripped by it. Lovely scenery.

Watched this last night & have just had eggs, well egg in purgatory for breakfast!

We've binged watched it, it was good, lightweight, cosy crime. Felt very Good Ship Murder. Very watchable and I hope there is another series.
