New drama/thriller on for 6w

ITV's 6-part detective drama is a must-watch for Death in Paradise fans – see first look
A Taste For Murder stars Warren Brown as a detective who, after the death of his wife, embarks on a new crime-solving adventure in Capri, Italy

Daria (Gaia Scodellaro), DCI Joe Mottram (Warren Brown), Inspector Lara Sarrancino (Cristiana Dell'Anna), Elena Da Vinale (Phyllis Logan), Angelica (Beau Gadsdon), Chef Gennaro (Urbano Barberini)

Starring Warren Brown (The Responder, Trigger Point) and Phyllis Logan (Downton Abbey), the drama is set in Capri, Italy, and uniquely blends crime-filled mysteries with mouth-watering local cuisine, which sits at the heart of each episode.

If you're a fan of crime dramas set against beautiful, sun-soaked backdrops, then you're in for a treat. With creator Matt Baker (Patience, Professor T, Hotel Portofino) at the helm and Whitstable Pearl's Jon Jones directing, it's set to fill that crime drama gap in your viewing schedule.

Much like Death in Paradise, which sees its lead detective relocate abroad for a fresh start, A Taste For Murder follows detective Joe Mottram as he retreats to Capri with his daughter after the tragic death of his wife.

There, they spend the summer living with his Italian in-laws.
The synopsis continues: "Unsure how to face his own grief, let alone help heal his daughter's broken heart, he quickly becomes immersed in the local murder cases on the island."

For Detective Chief Inspector Joe Mottram, a summer on the island of Capri was meant to be an opportunity to reconnect with his troubled teenage daughter, Angelica, and his Italian in-laws, after his wife’s Francesca’s death by a hit-and-run.

But when a British tourist is found dead and a member of his late wife’s family is accused of murder, Joe is pulled back into a world of police cells, crime scenes and local corruption.

As he discovers more about the island, he realises it holds the answers to Francesca’s death, which may not have been a tragic accident after all.

Annoyingly not available for download on Sky. Will have to watch on my iPad. 4 things I want to watch on a Wednesday all at 9pm. So having to juggle with +1 as can only record 2 things and then unable to watch anything else. So not fair on other family members. 😬

I thought they were great!

I also liked her clothes in the mystery thing she was in.

The puzzle lady or something.

Blondeshavemorefun · 30/04/2026 22:57

She’s nicely dressed

I’m enjoying this, all the ingredients I like. I love Phylis Logan’s clothes and the slow, enticing cooking scenes. I’m not sure what the real time TV schedule is so I hope I’m not speaking out of turn when I say I reckon the wife’s death will become an investigation

It basically says in the blurb in the OP that's the wife's death will turn out to be more that it seems

So I think you're ok saying that!

Davros · 01/05/2026 09:59

Or I'm psychic or don’t read the info properly 😹

Blondeshavemorefun · 01/05/2026 11:38

Their deaths are never an accident

she was prob ran over due to a case he was investigating

JOE is called in when a British tourist is founded at the bottom of a cliff and discovered a huge clue that blows the whole case wide open

Warren brown is so wooden in this.
The man running the restaurant is definitely dodgy and paying off that other man. The policewoman fancies Joe, but he isn’t interested. The daughter is annoying..
I like that the murders are wrapped up quickly though and nice food and scenery which is worth watching for.

butterpuffed · 07/05/2026 08:13

I liked Warren Brown in Ten Pound Poms but he really doesn't seem suited to his role in this as a policeman.

Apart from my niggle over this, I'm enjoying the programme !

the80sweregreat · 07/05/2026 08:24

WB was on breakfast yesterday and he didn’t sound that enthusiastic about it. It was filmed early in the year and cold and they had to make it look hot.

Davros · 07/05/2026 08:38

I think the policewoman is a Lesbian. I think WB is rather ugly and looks fat, even though he isn’t. The daughter’s so-called boyfriend is revolting. Judgy, moi?

I thought the FIL is paying off mafia?

the80sweregreat · 07/05/2026 09:47

Is it the mafia! Oh no ( I did miss a bit of it last night , but that man eating looked dodgy)
The daughter’s boyfriend is horrible isn’t he. She’s bound to have an accident of some kind , but be ok. Not a spoiler , but it may happen so she sees the light.
The Mil’s outfits are very loud , but they do suit her.
She means well , but she should have told Joe she was giving the daughter tablets.

the80sweregreat · 07/05/2026 09:49

WB is very easy on the eyes, but he just looks like he’d rather be somewhere else. Maybe it’s because his wife died and he keeps on being asked about horrible murders , but he doesn’t look comfortable at all. Might be the cold and having to run around in a t shirt to make it look hot.
