When was this said?

I think it was before they set off on their jollies. I was only half-watching because I was googling to try and jog my memory about who'd been a shit on a previous retreat.

murasaki · 15/04/2026 14:16

Yes they were still in the apartment.

kenyaswhiterefrigerator · 15/04/2026 14:18

Just watched and it was about 10 minutes in at the start of the episode. They were still at the flat debriefing the commitment ceremony. David was saying he was a bit confused as to what she had meant by missing stimulation and high energy with him.

I don't know how Bec gets through life on a day to day basis. She has absolutely no filter and no awareness of how her actions impact others. How does she have any friends?

Rachel places far to much importance on the tiny crumbs of affection she receives. Maybe that's what's upsetting her so much. The bloke clearly doesn't fancy her, can't she see that?

It's always the same on MAFS. There has never been a couple who weren't attracted to each other turn it around.

All this 'attraction can grow' is bollocks. If it's not there to start with, you can't create it. Far kinder to just be friends. It's so humiliating for Rachel and Stephen is terrified of being seen as the bad guy.

dapsnotplimsolls · 15/04/2026 14:26

I'm assuming Bec isn't blind drunk and/or coked up when at work.

WallaceinAnderland · 15/04/2026 14:28

No, but imagine the work Christmas party!

Actually, didn't she just lose her job?

When was this said?

She said it at the cc

Agreed about Rachel and Steven - he doesn't fancy her, it's blindingly obvious. Maybe they live in different parts of the country and he can let her down gently at the end.

He’ll have to move to Perth.

I’m a bit late, but why does Danny look like Peaky Blinder meets golf wanker?

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

When was this said?

She said it twice, firstly at the commitment ceremony and then yesterday, when they were getting ready to go on the retreat trip.

Exactly. Yet the experts keep repeating it.

stayathomegardener · 15/04/2026 15:34

Bec’s comment regarding Rachel and Stevo was crude and chosen to elevate herself by humiliating them, I think she could have redeemed herself by immediately apologising when Rachel flagged her upset but choosing to double down and accuse Rachel of blowing it out of proportion set them at odds.

Laughing about making meme tee shirts the next day with her enemy Gia whilst I assume sober was crazy.

And then saying Danny was the one encouraging Stevo towards intimacy was again unkind and elevating her own couple status.

I worry about her mental state dealing with all the repercussions after the show has finished.

They'd lose half the couples from the start so they put pressure on them to 'power through', look into each other's eyes, hug and kiss when it's patently so inappropriate. And the person who doesn't fancy the other is coerced into these actions.

Of course in naming Danny there she was basically admitting he'd not been attracted to her, and had forced himself into it. Therefore was the expert in having reluctant sex. Which we know to be true but I'd thought she was still denying.

In the commitment ceremony, if just one person writes "leave" then the couple should leave because that's what happens in the real world. The relationship is over if 1 person wants out!

WallaceinAnderland · 15/04/2026 16:03

Exactly. And in that case there would be no programme. So basically the individuals are paid to stay otherwise the show would collapse.

I know this really, but it feels really coercive to make people stay in an unhappy, albeit fake, relationship!

Villanousvillans · 15/04/2026 16:15

That’s a good point about Rachel, being upset partly because Stevo doesn’t really fancy her. It feels like she’s clutching at straws and the crumbs he’s thrown her were made into a joke. Excuse me mixing my metaphors.

Yes. I remember the UK series where that bloke with the awful haircut, was almost coerced into being affectionate with that dreadful Polly. It was very hard to watch and felt uncomfortable.

Ah, Shitlid, the OG version.

Villanousvillans · 15/04/2026 16:29

Yes, Shitlid. He was a barber and didn’t he give all the other guys in the show matching shitlids?

Yes contagious shitlids for all.
