Robert lindsy is a mysterious X expat Andrew

Lieutenant Virginia Taylor, is a local detective who makes it her mission to help Sarah find Katie

Gotta say one thing for Xavier, once he got his money, he didn't waste any time getting on with the job! Jason was obviously one of those who knew too much and had to be silenced. Question is, who are the others?

And who's the skinny French woman with the elfin haircut who was talking to Xavier just before Sarah followed him?

Before either of them spoke a word I knew Rupert Graves was the baddie. No way would he be with someone so mumsy so it seemed likely he targeted her for some reason. Maybe to get to her daughter?

I normally really like JS but this is such utter tripe I can’t take it seriously. The acting all round is really wooden. As someone also said it that mythical area of France where everyone speaks perfect English. Why does Morgan need to do an English Exchange (I assume she’s coming to England) when she speaks perfect English?

The end of episode one with them all looking dodgy in slow motion was very cheesy and yes they can all speak English in this tiny French town.
It’s a typical channel five effort , but at least it’s not being filmed in France pretending to be somewhere in England. I like the main actress, she was also good in riot women too.

Watched all 5 episodes of this now. 5/10 overall for me. I also like Joanna Scalan and pretty much everything she is in, but this, (whilst it showed a lot of promise and could have been really good,) was a bit of a damp squib IMO. Too many characters, (some unnecessary,) and a bit of a daft plot. Also thought it was weird how Sarah (Katie's mother - Joanna Scanlan) was just flitting all over the place, turning up here there and everywhere with no transport.

And whilst she was bound to be worried about her daughter Katie, I got sick of her saying - (no matter WHAT was occurring at the time, and even if people were dying - or DEAD) - 'Katie, what about Katie, does he know anything about Katie, ask him about Katie, Katie, Katie, Katie, did she know anything about Katie, is Katie in there, could Katie have been here, Katie Katie Katie. Did I say KATIE?!?' It just really annoyed me!'😆

I found the boyfriend Jason (who was a coach driver,) the guy with the man bun - Mark, who used to be in Primeval, and Virginie's father Andrew, (Robert Lindsay) all pointless characters. None of the 3 brought anything to the story IMO.

I also got jarred by how they all spoke English when there was one English woman there, but then spoke French when there were only French people there. Surely, even when Sarah was with all the French people, they (the French) would have spoken mostly French.

When my DD went (10 years ago) to stay for a month with her friend, to the friend's uncle and French aunt who live in France, the family pretty much all spoke French, even when DD was in their company. They spoke English when speaking directly to DD, but spoke French 90% of the time. DD understands/can speak French, but it's a bit limited, as she's not learned it properly, it's just what she's picked up. So it made no sense (to me) that all these French people would have communicated in English so much.

But yeah, tl;dr, wasn't brilliant IMO. And the end was a bit Average overall. (Did feel a little bit like 5 hours of my life I can never get back!)

Anyone who's seen Madame Blanc knows what to expect in terms of Englsih -speaking. They do it because if you show much sub-titling, people just switch off. Plenty of times I've read posters here saying, I can't be doing with sub-titles. If you want 'proper' French drama, all in French, there's a fair amuont of it around, esp on Walter Presents.

The police seem a bit hopeless that they hadn't even found Xavier what with that incriminating bloodstained handprint now all destroyed sadly.

I’ve only watched the first episode so haven’t RTFT but why oh why have they not just located Katie’s phone? If the mother and she are so close, doesn’t the mum have Find my phone, never mind the police having all kinds of technology to find the location of a phone!!! It’s driving me batty. Surely all the kids would have Snapmaps too??

Well I did wonder why thy didn’t have didn’t iPhone or send location via wats app
