I think this woman needs her to realise her star has fallen like a lot of minor celebs. She has had a good run and everything has did was tired. New cookery blood should be allowed a chance.

DH is the cook in our house watches cooking programmes but most of his recipes come from on-line. He props up his tablet and works from that.

Jamie Oliver and some others managed to get internationally well known. The interest in their shows is across the world. So yea, the UK channels will keep producing them. Itmakes them money. If it wouldn't, they wouldn't keep producing them

Yeah I know. I hadn't heard of the book till recently and would have loved to look at the recipes and traditions of it. It feels like all other cuisines can be made palatable to British audiences but seemingly not that of a religion that is so popular in this country? Like they think Brits would have no interest? How would we know if we don't get to see the recipes?

I don't doubt for a second that nadiya has encountered sexism and racism during her TV career, but her sex, ethnicity and religion were also undoubtedly an initial draw for the BBC; multiple diversity boxes ticked off in one go.
I like her, but I also agree that she's had a pretty good innings for a baking competition winner and that she's probably not making the best decisions in terms of likely opportunities in the future.
I don't know if she has a manager or agent but she'd probably benefit from (a new) one if she wants to continue with a celebrity cooking career.

I really liked Nadiya both on Bake Off and in those of her solo programmes I have seen.

Of course we have no idea if racism was involved but given the BBC is frequently criticised for discrimination against white british people, and most of all working class white people, it feels a bit unlikely.

However, I am sure Nadiya will have come across racist arseholes throughout her life and as with any distressing negative experience this can understandably create hypervigilance and lead to people suspecting the same thing is happening again even if there are other issues in play.

She also suffers from anxiety and as a fellow sufferer I can understand how she might feel the need to defend herself without fully thinking through the pros and cons of speaking out like this. Have done so myself and at times have regretted it.

Right or wrong what she is saying is not likely to help her career, if that was her aim.

To be fair on Jamie Oliver he did a lot of different things including school meals and youth opportunities in his restaurant. He worked hard to stay well known and interesting. I'm don't know if he is still going as I don't take much interest in celeb chefs.
